Wishful Thinking: Lebanon Files Complaint Over Israeli Violations Of Its Airspace At The U.N.

On August 20th, Lebanon lodged a complaint at the United Nations due to Israel continually carrying out airstrikes from its airspace.

Caretaker Lebanese Defense Minister Zeina Akar, in a statement, condemned the Israeli violation of Lebanese airspace during its bombing of Syrian areas on August 19th.

Akar noted that the Israeli violation posed a direct and serious threat to the Lebanese navigation and safety of civil aviation, and were in flagrant violation of international resolutions, especially United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 33-day-long Israeli military onslaught on Lebanon in the summer of 2006.

She said that a complaint had been filed through Lebanon’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amal Mudallali regarding Israeli violations.

She stressed that the UN must deter Israel from violating and using Lebanese airspace to launch its attacks against neighboring Syria.

Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab said, on his part, also condemned the continuous encroachment:

“The enemy’s continuous violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty is a direct violation to UN Security Council Resolution 1701.”

Diab added that the UN should condemn the Israeli aggression and take measures that preserve Lebanon’s sovereignty and protect Resolution 1701.

Major General Stefano Del Col, head of mission and force commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), condemned the Israeli violations, stressing that such overflights undermine the Arab country’s sovereignty.

He called on the Israeli military to put an end to such actions, stressing that they undermine UNIFIL’s efforts to contain tensions and build confidence among the local population in southern Lebanon.

On August 17th, and then 19th, Israel carried out strikes towards Syrian soil, striking alleged Hezbollah positions.

An anonymous Syria military source told Syria’s official SANA news agency that the Israeli military launched missile strikes targeting some posts on the outskirts of Damascus and in Homs.

The source added that most missiles coming from the southeastern side of Beirut were intercepted by Syrian air defense systems.

According to Lebanon, Israel violates the country’s airspace on an almost daily basis, claiming the flights serve surveillance purposes.

Lebanon’s government, the Hezbollah resistance movement and UNIFIL have repeatedly condemned the overflights, saying they are in clear violation of UN Resolution 1701 and the country’s sovereignty.

More than a year ago, in April 2020, Lebanon lodged a complaint to the United Nation against Tel Aviv for violating the country’s airspace after Israeli military aircraft carried out airstrikes on multiple targets in Syria’s central province of Homs.

In 2009, Lebanon filed a complaint with the UN, presenting over 7,000 documents pertaining to Israeli violations of Lebanese territory.

None of these have led to anything substantial.

Cry me a river you terrorists, a failed state with failed people. One small mistake and we are sending all of you back to the stoneage.

Robert

I keep telling Nasrallah and the gang, Beirut blast was a small trial for what awaits you emasse should you get stupid, your so called 150k rockets will look like toys

Iron_Zion

Let them bark Robert, I know exactly what we can do to Hezbollah and Lebanon in a matter of days incase the IDF decides to unleash its full firepower. Just look at Hamas, they have been preparing for a war since 2014 and stored thousands of rockets, over 80% of them were destroyed in just 10 days. That was when we tried to avoid hitting civilians, but we won’t give a F over the Lebanese in an all out war. Their cities will be wiped out even before hezbollah manages to shoot 10K rockets, and we will blow up their own rockets on their Shia population. Hell, just give us a reason to do it – it will be a day to remember.

JaimeInTexas

Violating another country’s airspace and launching the rockets hiding among civilian aircraft … using non-combatants as human shields?

Iron_Zion

Don’t lecture us, Lebanon is a failed state ruled by Hezbollah and they can not complain about any intl law as long as they host terrorists. WE WILL FLY OVER THEIR COUNTRY WHENEVER WE DECIDE TO, KAPISH?

Selbstdenker

Reality does not reach your brain, if you ever had one?

Selbstdenker

They have been cowards and nothing changed. All wars Israhell fought was saved by American fast support of weapons and material. By their own, failure was always most probable outcome.

Cromwell

We? says the moron posting from his Mums basement living in fantasy land

Iron_Zion

haha you fool, I was right there at the Gaza border against Hamas but we didn’t get the greenlight to enter. 10 days were enough for them, we can carpet bomb that entire strip to the ground if and when we choose.

Israel is like a lion cornered by hyenas. The lion can easily kill a Hyena but the Hyenas keep moving and nipping at the lion until the lion eventually tires and can’t fight back any more.

Israel is a small, resource poor strip of land with her back to the sea and surrounded by enemies. She did lots of damage to her attackers in the past but her enemies are persistent and her strikes are no longer scaring them away …. they smell fear and know if they are persistent and patient a feast will result.

It may take decades or it may take centuries but eventually Israel will fall. The USA supports her now but US power is trending down and they are an economic crisis away from crashing out of geopolitical relevance … all it takes is a lack of confidence in the US’s ability to defend the oil trade and the USD is toast.

As the USA has learned for the second time in fifty years, you can’t always bomb your problems away … paper covers rock. Israel should take note and look for other solutions before it’s too late.

bazzolo

Except Israel is the hyena, defended by a behemoth, this is why the lions around it cannot attack.

Islam collapse

Report -Saudi makes it not compulsory to close shop during mamas.Another report states that 30% of Saudis have become atheists

RaptarDriver

The only complaint that will be acknowledged by this criminal rogue state Is several dozen Sam missiles coming at their American jets.

The Black Terror

Lebanese Defense Minister Akar????? Who and what the hell are you defending, you stupid, weak little worm? Your country’s airspace is being violated at will and bombed by the HeimyYid ZioJew rats as in a video game. Either let Hezbollah blitz the hell out of the enemy with thousands of rockets and shoot down the HeimySkyRats or leave the country and your big government paychecks!

Cromwell

Lebanon has had decades to bbuild modern airforce and air defence missiles, what the hell have they been doing.and i asked at the time when Hezbollah were fighting the Israeli thugs in 2006,where the hell were the Lebanese army?

Fog of War

Pure comedy gold. The UN will stand up to the Zios ? Are you kidding me ?

” She stressed that the UN must deter Israel from violating and using Lebanese airspace to launch its attacks against neighboring Syria. “

bazzolo

Let Israel attack and you will that Lebanon will become united as a monolith. The jews are really that stupid, that their behaviour gives Hezbollah the right excuse to unite all of the lebanese people.

FFs

Yeah.. a strongly worded letter should do the trick.
