The video below showins a first face to face meeting between Syrian troops and US service members near the town of Manbij in northern Syria. In December 2018, soldiers of the Syrian Army were deployed near the town controlled by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). However, the town itself remained under control of the SDF and US troops still carry out patrols in the area.
According to pro-government sources, a US patrol approached Syrian Army positions and demanded the soldiers to take down the Syrian flag. However, US troops got a strong negative answer and were forced to leave the area.
