US Plans To Seize Iranian Tankers Sailing Towards Venezuela

ILLUSTRATIVE IMAGE

The United States is seeking to seize four tankers sailing towards Venezuela with gasoline supplied by Iran in itslatest attempt to disrupt ever-closer trade ties between the two states.

According to the US, the sale was arranged by a businessman, Mahmoud Madanipour, with ties to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, which the US designates as a foreign terrorist organisation.

“The profits from these activities support the IRGC’s full range of nefarious activities, including the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, support for terrorism, and a variety of human rights abuses, at home and abroad,” prosecutor Zia Faruqui alleged in the civil-forfeiture complaint filed in the District of Columbia federal court.

The Trump administration has been steadily increasing its sanction pressure on Venezuela and Iran in an attempt to overthrow governments of these countries and undermine their ability to provide independent foreign and internal policies. In the framework of these efforts, the US will likely try to seize tankers with Iranian gasoline that head to Venezuela and pressure companies involved iin the trade.

Trump will probably not risk provoking another humiliating Iranian strike on US interests, especially in the run-up to the US election. However, the Pentagon may toy with the idea, given that any Iranian closure of the Strait of Hormuz will have much less impact in the current oil surplus environment. Part of me hopes the US oversteps and gets a good slap.

    • Zionism = EVIL

These arrogant and hubris laden fuckwits are underestimating Iranian resolve. I hope they read my factual posts as they will get into a shitload of mess if they push Iran anymore. Boarding a ship in international waters is an illegal act of piracy and Iranian retaliation will not be confined to the Persian Gulf or just headache causing missiles this time. This is a fair warning as the Zionist cunts will burn too and the whole region. Iran is in a far stronger position than these arrogant arseholes have deluded themselves into thinking.

    • Superfly

Trump is all hat and no cattle. US military is focused on China and war with Iran will weaken it more.

      • Wayne Nicholson

I think you’re right ….. I wouldn’t be surprised to see NK, Iran, Venezuela, iraq, Syria …. all start something provocative to keep the USA spinning.

History isn’t lost on countries like China and Russia. All you have to do is look back to 1939 and it’s obvious to anyone that Germany wouldn’t have even considered WW2 if the USSR, GB and France were allied right from the start.

The USA is in the same boat today. She can’t take on China, Russia, Iran and Venezuela all at once. Yea the USA could start firing missiles at all these countries and cause massive destruction but at what cost?

      • Sadde

Focused, is not exactly a word to be associated with the US.

    • FlorianGeyer

The US navy should rename themselves as ‘The Pirates of the Caribbean’. :)

      • Albert Pike

Yeh – those where jews too…

  • Zionism = EVIL

OK, it is time to tell you kids and the CIA, MI6, Jew cunt and other assorted arseholes who read these blogs some home TRUTHS. The Americunt and Jew arseholes are getting frustrated as Iran is growing stronger and its economy is rebounding and the “maximum pressure” has backfired bigtime. This is from a US Treasury report:

Iran Is Becoming Immune to U.S. Pressure

Trump’s so-called maximum pressure campaign has
empowered hard-line figures in Tehran, marginalizing those eager to take
the diplomatic route and facilitated stronger ties with China. Iran economy is slated to grow by 2.4% this year despite Covid 19 shutdown. Iran has become immune to US pressure and is finalizing a comprehensive strategic partnership with China.

Another point I will make without any intent of jingoism is that the dumbass Americunt arseholes need to understand that Iran will not remain silent to any meddling in its trade or interdiction of tankers, ships or planes and will hit back at the Americunts and their interests. A decision on this has already been made. Iran knows that this is best time to inflict a mortal blow at the imploding Americunt warmongers. This is not a boast, but a simple warning, The dumbass Zionist cowardly cunts may get what they wish for.

    • Superfly

A similar analysis in Foreign Policy magazine. Iran and China to ditch the dollar and undermine the weak US economy further.

      • Brother Ma

Heard it all before but still to happen. It is always “we will do it! ” but never happens.
I wish they keep their word.

        • Ashok Varma

India and Iran trade is in mutual currency swaps. So many countries are doing it now. IMF predicts further weakening of US dollar along with continued economy depression.

          • Brother Ma

Yes I have heard of these bilateral currency swaps and it makes me happy ,but so far I don’t think it has been too influential on the value of the dollar. I hope it has more of an effect.

So ALL trade between Iran and India is by currency swap or only on the major categories of the export value eg oil, machinery etc?

          • Zionism = EVIL

The US Treasury cited reports that Iran’s economy will experience growth this year despite the coronavirus pandemic.

“Iran has proven resilient in the face of US pressure. While many
ordinary Iranians may feel some adverse effects , the economy is not in total free fall, as many in Washington hoped for. Instead, the country has shown signs
of economic recovery, with domestic production and employment increasing,” the report said.

US policy makers “thought that with maximum pressure they can take us to the
table of negotiation in a position of weakness … this will never happen as Iranian are very proud nationalistic people and historically don’t buckle under pressure.”

The report added that, “The political climate in Iran has since decisively turned hostile to any talk of negotiating with the United States, reestablishing a taboo that existed for years before the nuclear negotiations during the presidency of Barack Obama.”

          • Brother Ma

This pleases me. I have a lot of time for Secular Moslem Shiites. I know Iran is a Theocracy but I am happy to support them in joint endeavours as long as they do not push Islam into Europe or the world in any form. Do what you want in uoir countries but don’t push it into ours or then my support stops.

Yadhere to this I am ok not your side to kill these headchopper Sunnis like the Turks.

        • Wayne Nicholson

In terms of news and election cycles change is happening slowly but in historical terms change is happening fast.

There are 195 trading nations in the world and most of the richest, most developed nations are heavily invested in the USD reserve currency. The cheapest and easiest way to trade is using USD.

          It’s like using Amazon prime.

You know you’re just making Jeff Bezo richer and killing local businesses who would be happy to sell online to you directly but even if they sell the same product cheaper, can deliver earlier and it benefits the local community …. one click with Amazon Prime and you get your shit a week later. No searching out websites, less security risks, shipping costs are built in …. it’s just easier using Amazon.

Same situation with the USD …. countries will change but it will take time to set up a similar system to the USD.

The oil is not for us buddy, we don’t care about it. We can’t operate against the Iranian nuclear facilities without a greenlight and coordination with the U.S, which we didn’t get. We don’t fight for money, we fight for our existence and when the time comes Iran will be stopped even in a nuclear war.

        • Superfly

You guys can’t even beat up women and children without US help, let alone attack Iran and be destroyed.

        • Brother Ma

Did you care for the Rwandan Genocide?
Did you care for the Genocides during the Partition of India?

          • <>

What your point? those conflicts are not related to Israel. I didn’t write anyone should care, wrote that we need to have a greenlight from the U.S in order to start the war, which we will fight ourselves. Got it?

In addition ,you have never fought a war by yourselves. Ever! You have always had help from Allies like US ,UK and France, the latter two powerful up to 1956. So don’t make me laugh.

We’d see how powerful you would be with out the free money and protection given you by the USA.

            Got it?

            P.S

Israel and Turkey ? Two sides of the SAME coin.

          • <>

            We shall see.

          • The Objective

You’ll just get nuked Iron Zion. If you doubt whether Iran is NUCLEAR-ARMED, then you are not being very observant and investigative.

          • <>

I trust our AA systems like the Arrow3, and if we will be nuked, you won’t have Jerusalem anymore.

          • The Objective

I am not wishing for Israel to get nuked. I hope for peace and let the West allow Muslims practice their shariah in Muslim countries without interference. Then we’ll have peace. Otherwise there’ll be no peace even if it means a total nuclear war. Unfortunately, America will not stop it’s attempts to exterminate the Muslim faith by any means necessary. Look what jam the US is currently in right now. I have no doubt they suffer these problems because of their attempt to destroys Allah’s religion. They fought a nuclear armed communism and we’re victorious. They take on Islam and look where they are currently, in rapid decline.

Israel is over-blamed to the extent sometimes I sympathize with them. Everyone blames Israel for everything, not looking at what the western world is doing that also contributes the problem. For example, America’s anti-muslim wars have brought global Muslim anger on Israel. Jews and Muslims lived together peacefully over a 14 centuries ago.
The only place I blame Israel is with their annexations. If not for the annexations and ill-treatment of Palestinians, the Muslim world will have no issues with Israel. These have been the cause of all Israeli conflicts. Today, Israel has to rely on other countries for it’s survival. Nuked will not protect Israel 100%. The only thing it does is give Israel a chance to also kill a few millions in the middle east. But there are 2 billion Muslims worldwide.
I really think the West got Israel in a much bigger jam than most realize.

          • <>

I agree,if we could find peace like we have with Egypt and Jordan it would be the best. I hope the Palestinians take Trump’s deal and we won’t annex anything on our own, so we can end this conflict since we both need to live here. That’s how God wants.

          • The Objective

I hope so too. Peace is better than war, says the Quran

          • <>

Thank you for showing the better side of Islam, I hope both my leadership and theirs overcome their fears.

          • S Melanson

It is my understanding that Israel’s victory in the Six Day War was largely with no external help. In fact, Israel appealed to the US to intervene when Egypt blockaded Eilat but the US declined.

When Nasser sent Egyptian troops into the Sinai abrogating the peace terms that ended the Suez Crisis, the UN peace keeping force in the Sinai abandoned their positions along the Sinai-Israeli border. Although Israel was isolated, the provocative actions on the part of the Egyptians threatened a vulnerable Israel.

The Ben Gurion Doctrine informed what actions to take. Military decision to take the battle into the enemy’s territory. And so Israel attacked and no one should have been surprised if they had any understanding of the doctrine.

Only after the stunning victory did the US develop close ties with Israel.

Israel is often painted as the aggressor in the 1967 war and blindly supported by the US. The reality is that Israel had some justification to attack after the UN abandoned their mission in the face of hostile Egyptian actions. The US declined to support Israel in resolving Egypt’s blockade which is an act of war.

In conclusion, Israel’s victory in the Six Day War was by her own agency alone.

            Is this summary correct?

          • <>

Very correct Melanson, and people try to portray us as the aggressors (which might be true), but fail to understand the reasons why we do what we do. If our enemies had stopped their hostile plans against us before that war, we would have no reason to attack anyone. It is true today aswell, we fight two terrorist organizations (Hamas and Hezbollah) that keep getting armed with rockets to kill Israelis, we can’t just sit still and do nothing about it. I’d prefer peace, but not with any organization just with a state’s government. I do hope we can find a solution with the Palestinians, but right now it’s more up to them to accept the deal than us.

          • The Objective

Have you ever wondered why Israel needs a greenlight from the U.S? You just made everyone know Israel is no match for Iran.

          • <>

There are tens of thousands of U.S soldiers across the ME, if we strike Iran then they will be targeted too. We can’t risk them based on our own decision.

          • The Objective

If that were the case, you would ask the US to simply leave those bases and return later when you are done dealing with Iran. You could also ask the US to assure Iran it won’t interfare in the conflict, and I am sure Iran will not target US forces, just like it won’t target Russian forces.
Also, to prove your point, start by dismantling Hezbollah. At least Hezbollah will not target as Americans.
Actually, It is the other round. The US does not attack Iran for fear of Iran bombing Israel.

          • <>

Look at us, talking about war between Israel and Iran and for what? because a dictatorship stole the hope of the proud Iranian people? it’s sad. But we are both people with faith Objective, I guess God has his own plans for us.

        • Fog of War
        • The Objective

And you think that’s the best way to solve your problem? You think there’ll still be an Israel. I am pretty sure now after taking time to study the whole Iranian nuclear issue from the past that Iran is NUCLEAR-ARMED. that’s why Trump voided the deal. Obama and netanyahu knew too, but it was too late. Israel wanted more punitive sanctions and sabotage to weaken and ultimately topple the Iranian regime. Obama saw that as too risky and wanted to parmanently avoid a US war with Iran even after his tenure. So he made it difficult for any pro-israeli president by signing the deal.
It’ll a great deal of reasearch and critical thinking to realize this.
Question is, why have they not come out publicly to accuse Iran of having nuked? Anyone has an idea?

          • <>

Truth is, I would rather us not to be in any war with Iran because we not natural enemies- I mean Jews and Persians. We are only like that in the last 40 years, before the Shah was removed we were good friends. Too bad it got to this point.

        • occupybacon

Of course the oil is not for you, why would you care for Venezuela’s oil given by Iran?

You shouldn’t take their insults seriously otherwise it could sadden you. I believe everyone has the right to speak their mind without being insulted. I found the best way to minimize insults on you is to not insult others and not argue from motions. Always speak logic and provided sources for backup. This way, people are forced to reason and less likely to insult you even if they disagree, especially when what you say is undisputable.

To everyone else, we got to stop hurling insults at others.

          • <>

Hi Iron Zion. I am with Objective 100%. I and others want to hear what you have to say so brush aside the insulting posts and speak your mind. Below is a post that I pasted in FYI. I also would like your thoughts on the question I pose regarding the articles conclusion. Cheers.

            ————————

This article is a good read but the conclusion that the tankers will be seized for reasons argued in the article fail to explain how this time is different from before when tankers were not seized despite US threats they would do so – the reasons then are no different to what is driving the latest round of threats.

Also, I was impressed by the comments where insults gave way to thoughtful and informative debate (exchanges with Iron Zion in particular). I would like to see more of this as we learn a great deal by practising the lost art of listening. This willalso elevate the stature of SF as a go to site that will attract more readers that will add their perspectives in comment threads.

I think the U.S won’t do anything against Iran, atleast while Trump is still in power. He likes the use threats alot just like Bibi, but he doesn’t really want or can afford to start a major war before elections.

          • S Melanson

Thank you! I posted above on the maturity and thoughtfulness shown in this comment thread. I paste my comment below which includes a question on the article conclusion which I ask for your thoughts.

          • The Objective

While you see this article as a good read, to me it’s regurgitated news with nothing to add.
But what differentiates this situation from the previous one is that in this case, the Trump administration seeked and acquired a federal court authorization to sieze the ships. Secondly, it’ll deal an even more damaging blow to America’s world power status of Trump did nothing after that court order.
An easier way for the U.S to maneuver through this tight spot is for America to bribe the ship’s captain to steer his ship towards a different destination and have another country compound it on behalf of America. The problem is, American tried the bribery method before with the previous Iranian shipment, offering the captain several million dollars in exchange for his cooperation, but the captain declined the offer. It was reported Brian Hook contacted a captain of the previous ships via email with the offer based on an American strategy called “reward for justice”.
But this is a more difficult situation for Trump, especially with elections just months off. If he does nothing, his political opponents will accuse him of being an impotent leader who started a crisis he has no balls to follow through. On the other hand, compounding the ships risk starting a war with Iran as Iran will attempt seizing American ships or those sailing under a US flag. This will very likely result in a clash between the US and Iranian navies, with potentials to escalate into an all-out war and regional conflict.

I believe Iranian leadership has been pushed too far and they will hit back bigtime if the dumbass Americunts don’t stop. Iran will surprise many.

This will also elevate the stature of SF as a go to site that will attract more readers that will add their perspectives in comment threads.

Planning is OK, that’s all the AngloAmericanZioracist empire can do against Iran. If they so much as touch the hair of anybody on any of those tankers, goodbye zioracist garbage dump, goodbye U.S. bases in the region.
