Support SouthFront

On March 23, two planes of the Russian Aerospace Forces landed in Venezuela’s main airport carrying a Russian defense official and nearly 100 troops, according to reports in mainstream media and claims by local activists.

The planes were identified as An Ilyushin IL-62 passenger jet and an Antonov AN-124 military cargo plane. They left Moscow from Russian military airport Chkalovsky on March 22 and visited Syria en route to Venezuela.

According to speculations, the meintioned defense officials was Vasily Tonkoshkurov, chief of staff of the Ground Forces. Some material [allegedly over 35 tonnes] was also delivered.

The Russian Defense Ministry has not provided comments on this report yet. However, the Russian mainstream media says citing “own sources” that the delegation arrived in Venezuela for “bilateral consultations” over a wide range of topics, including the military and technical cooperation.

  1. James says:

Damn that AN-124 is huge! Makes those semi’s look like toy trucks haha.

    1. Wraith says:

the soon to be US Navy tomahawk strikes against Maduro’s government will also be huge :) haha

      1. James says:

        So will the retaliation…..

        1. Wraith says:

as long as you know the major firepower the US has at its disposal when it comes to confronting the Maudro Government

          1. James says:

The more this drags out, the more legitimate the Maduro Government looks. What does that say about the US, and what do you think the consequences will be for the US if it does attack? Perhaps that’s why the US is holding back…..

    2. John Whitehot says:

      not that special.

it’s dwarfed by certain hooked noses hanging around this place.

  2. Sinbad2 says:

Plus 100 nuclear tipped missiles I hope.

    1. Rob says:

The world is divided into two groups.

      1. The warmongers evils thugs the US Zionists led coalition and

      2. The world defenders the Russia and China led coalition.

      1. BL says:

I haven’t seen China do any actual defending yet. It has only been Russia and Iran so far.

        1. You can call me Al says:

They are behind the scenes in Syria, but you are right (as far as I know) regards Venezuela, apart from investing $ 50 billion +.

          1. goingbrokes says:

Yes, and to protect that investment China is bankrolling the supplies of Russian defence systems to Venezuela. They are defending Venezuela all right.

          2. Carne João Pasta says:

            Most probable scenario, makes sense

        2. Jason Tribolini says:

China does some behind the scenes bankrolling in support of Maduro along with providing some low-key technological assistance. They are currently more concerned with:
          1) Reunifying Taiwan within the current 5 year plan.
          2) Defending North Korea and reunifying the peninsula if it comes to that.
          3) Fighting off an insurgency along the Pakistani and Afghanistan borders with the eventual plan of running legs of their BRI thru the mountain passes there.

Those three things require lots of invested resources, military and otherwise. The Chinese being a generally pragmatic people aren’t looking to over-extend and expose themselves to loss at this point.

        3. VeeNarian (Yerevan) says:

China has a $ trillion war chest of US treasuries to bring the USD Empire down. Troops to Venezuela will also come in handy, when they stop pussyfooting. Then perhaps Iran, India, Turkey and Pakistan will follow to defend Venezuela and usher in the New (Old) Multiplar World Order.

        4. Mustafa Mehmet says:

İran ? They all after their own benefit nothing more

          1. BL says:

First of all every nation is after their own interests, you think Russia and China are humanitarian countries who just help other nations out of goodwill? Russia doesn’t even interfere in Ukraine’s civil war even though one side of the war is ethnic Russians but has intervened in Syria. Ask yourself why. Second of all unlike Russia and China, Iran actually has a mutual defense treaty with Syria going back to the 80s when Syria was one of the few nations in the world who helped Iran during the Iran-Iraq war. Iran not only benefits by helping Syria but is obligated by
            its alliance treaty.

        5. Wraith says:

The combined militaries of China, Iran, and Russia could not defend Maduro from the US Carrier Fleet and tomahawk missiles

          1. Jaffar al-Majmuni says:

Like in Syria, Assad stepped down when he saw how those mighty tomahawks crushed in the syrian desert.

          2. BL says:

            LMAO thanks for the laugh.

          3. pipic astig says:

            Just like in Syria?

        6. Rob says:

Nobody can see the China’s strategy. The Muslim world lead by Pakistan. Before PM Imran Khan Pakistan was under the effect of Zionism. The Pakistan all weapons have purchased from US but now Pakistan have stopped to buy anything from Zionists of America. This is a big achievement of China. Trump struggle to prevent the Pakistan PM Khan to visit Russia. For this he sent pompeo and defence ministers etc to Pakistan but Khan did not meet them because Khan does not need them.

      2. Wraith says:

the world is divided into two groups:

1.Antisemites, Iranians, Pro-Russians, Chinese, and those trying to cause war and chaos everywhere

        2. USA, Israel, and its allies who are doing its best to uphold international law, bring stability, democracy, and prosperity to the entire planet

        1. Jaffar al-Majmuni says:

Did your medicaments not pass through the canadian border?

        2. John Whitehot says:

          1. USA, Israel and zionists.
          2. The rest of the world.

          Good luck with antisemites.

        3. I am Jaziel says:

          This was a joke eh..

    2. Rob says:

A bunch of Zionists have no power but use proxies like America, United Kingdom and ISIS to achieve their dirty goals. Zionists also combat their oppositions with each other to make them weaker.

    3. sagbotgamot says:

Just in case, Pompy, Bolty & Trumpy make a mistake of turning Venezuela into Syria.

    4. FlorianGeyer says:

And one to blow up the San Andreas Fault, :)

    5. Wraith says:

      lol keep dreaming kangaroo

  3. Drogba says:

So Bolton, pompous, abrams and tRUMP, what are you going to do now that Russia has arrived as guests in Venezuela? Accuse them of invaders, occupiers?.whatever ,you will get your asses kicked if you dare to attack. That is a promise.

    1. so says:

Love to see Traitor Trump start a Venezuela Missile Crisis. I wonder how that will work out.
The world is closing in on my scum government. God willing the world needs a break from our evil.

  4. Vince Dhimos says:

The AN 124 is a huge cargo plane and common sense tells us that it was filled with war materiel, most likely Pantsir air defenses to be used in addition to the S 300 system that the Russians had supplied to the country years ago. Recall that an AN 124 also landed here a few months ago and the naive Western journos focused their reports on the fact that the 2 Tupolevs that came with it were nuclear capable. But this was totally irrelevant. The Tupolevs were decoys. But this was exactly how the Russians knew Western journos would view it.
If Russian Pantsirs are there, the country will be much less sensitive to Tomahawk attacks, just as Syria was protected from Trump’s silly little fireworks displays and Israeli missiles. The Pantsirs were the missing ingredient in Venezuelan defenses and I think they are now in place.
Russia is protecting its investments. PDVSA is now operating under he aegis of Rosneft and the only thing that can stand in the way would be a military intervention. BTW, the Saudi oil minister Khaled al-Falih recently told the US to back off of sanctions on Russia. OPEC is reorganizing and Russia will be the head of it. That means that Saudi sees Russia as one of their own and will protect its interests. Venezuela has also been at the top leadership of OPEC, so Saudi has is back as well. A few weeks ago this would have seemed like an impossible dream. The unipolar world is quickly giving way to Putin’s dream of a multipolar world.

    1. John says:

The Pantsirs can come in directly by ship and that is much more economical. Plus many can be shipped in one shot. that is more Russia’s style. But, radar or electronic gear, yeah that could have been on board, easily. And that is worse than bad news for those aligned against Venezuela.

      1. Vince Dhimos says:

True. I was thinking about secrecy, not economy. Cargo planes were used to transport S-300 systems to Syria, probably to avoid prying eyes and sabotage,

    2. jerel says:

Such a spirited submission, with juicy tidbits. Tidbits? Like “OPEC is reorganizing and Russia will be the head of it” – didn’t know that. Also, hearing that Saudi Arabia has anybody’s back except of MbS, is revealing – many have thought that SA is in the pocket of the US? If these suggestions are true, it’s definitely some paradigm shifting going on.

      1. Vince Dhimos says:

Oops! My bad. I forgot to add a link to the report of Russia being head of a reorganized OPEC:
Earlier, Riyadh and its allies from the Gulf countries announced plans to transform the intergovernmental organization OPEC in order to create an alliance with a group of ten countries headed by Russia.
In case you don’t read Russian, the translation of the last paragraph containing the report is given in translation here:

        1. jerel says:

Thanks again – for both translations. Also, sometimes I remind others that many (most) browsers have a ‘translation’ app in the browser (right click) in content).

  5. Jose says:

One thing doesn’t make sense: if Russia wishes to hide this operation, they could land the aircraft on an Airbase, and not at the civil airport. So, nothing happens here.

    1. Raptar Driver says:

      A message happened.

  6. araiko says:

The people that support Maduro on the street are the ones that work for the government and have to be there .If they don´t go they will lose the small basket of goods they receive to survive another month. My country has already received thousands of Venezuelans and you can´t find one that says good of Maduro and its regime. I think in Syria the aproach of Russia was better than the one of USA but in Venezuela it´s a shame that they suport Maduro. Of course, it´s because of the money they will loose beucause they lended a lot to him but here Russians in thhe end you´ll lose because you don´t stand a chance. I don t konw when, if days, months or even years but this regime will fall. The Venezuela in 2019 is much diferente from Vnezuela 4 or 5 years ago, people are losing their fear their situation is more and more desperate.

    1. Marvin Joel Zavala López says:

Keep dreamin another 100+++ years if you last that many asshole???

    2. You can call me Al says:

      orina de espalda mojada

    3. jerel says:

This goes for all (if not most) countries. You said: “I don t [know] when, if days, months or even years but this regime will fall”. Did you know that the same is said about the US, UK, etc?

    4. Volker Burkert says:

The “opposition” lost already the next election in 5 years. Who wants to have a puppet government that has called for the intervention of another country to put them in position of power. Even Trump is too smart to risk his reelection in 2020 by starting a massive military adventure in Venezuela. Your traitor Guaido is doomed!

    5. VeeNarian (Yerevan) says:

“My country has already received thousands of Venezuelans.”
Be prepared for millions more if the regime change plans of Elliott (death squad) Abrams succeed. I hope there is enough room in your home. The EU had to suffer because of the US plans for regime change in Syria, you know, the “Assad must go” farts. But this time it will be the good ole USA.
      Listen to the POTUS and:
BUILD THAT WALL, before its is too late!

    6. Mike says:

    7. ruca says:

Seems to me that you completely ignored the many years of hardcore sanctions. Do you think that economic warfare has no effect?

  7. Saddam Hussein says:

Everyone is gearing up for WW3. Hope the Arabs get their shit together and go back to the Russian camp like in the glorious Soviet days.

    1. Brother Thomas says:

      Few would survive WW-III.
Best bet is that multipolarity becomes stronger led by China and Russia, with regional powers and smaller countries rediscovering their independent voices, as Empire decays and Anglo-American hegemony withers.

  8. White_American_Patriot says:

    They’re weaker than piss lol

    1. Jason Tribolini says:

    2. J Ramirez says:

Eat shit, you cant stop the Russians

    3. Mike says:

      American queer.

      1. Brother Thomas says:

Homophobic epithets not very nice, nor do they carry the same impact since gays are now accepted like any other person. If you really want to say something bad to our non-patriot non-American friend, you need to update and expand your repertoire of swear words.

    4. Asia Tatler says:

  9. White_American_Patriot says:

Maybe they sent more of those dogshit Pantsirs Israel blows up LOL

    1. Brother Thomas says:

An American patriot who cares more about Israel than about America is not a patriot but a traitor – regardless of his/her being white, red or blue.

    2. VeeNarian (Yerevan) says:

How is that “Assad must go” farts going, dear?

    3. Mike says:

      Fucking faget.

    4. Asia Tatler says:

      1. Promitheas Apollonious says:

no need for the caps kid we can understand what you saying with out the caps. So no need to shout.

  10. cechas vodobenikov says:

“america is a paper tiger”. Mao
the US cowers—a dying empire near collapse

  11. goingbrokes says:

Fake patriots and infiltrators will face a sorry end when true American Patriots take their country back, and end these sorry enterprises of the zionist empire. There won’t be many israeli sympathisers left when that happens.

    1. Promitheas Apollonious says:

True american patriots………… how many of them exist may I ask? By the way you have more than 55% evangelikas in the country, who are fanatical zionist puppets to start with.

      1. goingbrokes says:

Oh they exist, we just don’t hear about them because their views are censored and cannot reach the masses. The balance will tip soon. Once the slide starts there is no stopping it. The evangelistas are just as brainwashed as most people, many of them will wake up too.

        1. Promitheas Apollonious says:

I dont dispute they exist I ask how many?

As I see it are very few to none existent, like a drop in the ocean. As for the evangelikas waking up…. good luck to that. People who insist to awake ones who pretend they are asleep, are the ones who become extinct.

In order not to sound pessimistic because I am not, I wish you and yours I am wrong and you are right.

          1. goingbrokes says:

Lots of veterans, which is why the shadow state views them as enemies, and active military too, large numbers of professionals ( but not academics) and tradespeople – but I don’t know how many. I only know they exist all over the place, and will activate when the time is ripe.

          2. Promitheas Apollonious says:

they are enough. was curious not disputing they exist.

          3. goingbrokes says:

            All good!

          4. goingbrokes says:

There are some fantastic people that are worth listening to. See if you like this video from Owen Benjamin, who is very good at decoding cultural values.

Jay Dyer is good also. These guys are still fairly small but once the message gets through it’ll be a sight to behold. Lots of people like their message, and it is a sign that all is not lost!

  12. Brother Thomas says:

This is turning out to be a repeat of Syria. The neocons Rubio and Bolton, with their revived Halloween ghoul Elliot Abrams, are not doing the US any favours.

  13. VeeNarian (Yerevan) says:

Now the brave Russians have brought hope for Venezuela. When will the other SCO nations do the same? How long will they sit on their back side and play footsie with the US EVIL Empire?

  14. Asia Tatler says:

  15. Wraith says:

There were many Russian soldiers deployed at Al-Shayrat Airbase in 2017, but the US Navy still launched 60 tomahawk missiles at it. This wont stop the US Military from acting militarily against Maduro’s government

    1. Daniel Miller says:

and still only 20 of those 60 even made it to their mark.

    2. Joe Kerr says:

Go ahead and walk your yap doggy.

  16. Wolfgang Wolf says:

send 3 planes every day, for a full month – then we will see Gay-do shitting his pants….

  17. Joe Kerr says:

Notice that the fat slob Pimpeo and the draft dodger Bolton haven’t repeated their “all options” threat since the arrival of Russian troops, and neither has Netanyahu’s orange bum-boy. Russia just called the bankrupted Israeli colony of the U.S.’s bluff and the Israel’s bum-boy blinked.

  18. Xoli Xoli says:

As long as USA encircled Russia Russia must stay in Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua canceled all USA sanctions against North Korea. Arm all allies.

  19. Xoli Xoli says:

Arrest Guiado and let him order release of Venezuela gold and money from jail to his temporary instigators USA puppet France.
