On January 8, unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.

The gunmen opened fire from their assault rifles at the checkpoint, which is located on the southern entrance of Idlib city, in the early hours of the morning.

“The attack killed two members of the checkpoint, while the attackers managed to escape,” the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a report.

Today, HTS is ruling over much of Greater Idlib despite the presence of a fairly large force of the Turkish military in the region. Turkish forces are not intervening with the terrorist group’s operations.

There was no immediate claim for responsibility. ISIS cells, Syrian intelligence operatives or Turkish-backed factions, which had several conflicts with HTS over the past few years may be behind the attack.

While rasing to power, HTS created multiple enemies. The terrorist group attacked any side that attempted to challenge its authorities, including other al-Qaeda-affiliate formations .

HTS maintains a tight grip over Greater Idlib. However, the situation in the region is far from being stable. The recent attack proves that some in the region are still willing to challenge the group’s brutal authority.

Was it C19, or AK47 that killed them though?
Highly likely the dose was administered by females, to add to their discomfort.

    Rest in Pieces.

A fly just landed on the elephants back and annoyed the hell out of it, and now the elephants so annoyed it’s swatting the rest of the swarm before anymore can land, and then it’ll start pulling the wings and legs off some of the flies it manages to catch, and then with the helpful info it gains the elephant will head to the dung pile all the flies are hanging around, and stomp them into the turd they’re all sitting on, so a lot of flies are going to be splattered soon. :]

I shouldn’t be so glib about things, HTS might be in my good books lately but they may not be for much longer.
The US recently pulled the rug out from under HTS and I still don’t know whether they’ve kept their balance or about to go arse up on the floor, nothings obvious yet but this latest incident might just be the start of something bigger, I hope it’s not.
I like the idea that HTS has abided by the ceasefire despite the fact they weren’t even included in the agreement, and I also like the fact they negotiate and do deals with the Syrian Government who I fully [and only] support, but most especially I love the fact they’ve taken over control of most of the occupied northwestern territories controlling them both politically and economically, and I love it for one reason only, HTS did it at Turkey’s expense.
Less political legitimacy for Turkish occupation and their political demands,
Less income for Turkey from administration fees in the occupied territory,
Less UN humanitarian aide for the Turkish side and more aide for the HTS Salvation Government side,
Less internal trade for Turkey because the Syrian Government vies for HTS business too,

So what’s the difference between HTS headchoppers and Turkish backed headchoppers you ask, well the HTS headchoppers have more or less stopped chopping off SAA heads and have instead just been chopping off Turkish backed headchopper heads, that’s the only difference, sorry that’s not quite correct.
To be absolutely honest there is another difference, HTS probably chops off more of it’s own subjects heads than the Turkish backed headchoppers do, which means they’re a little worse in that respect.
So HTS still has to go eventually, they can never ever become the good guys, just helpful tools from time to time, and when they’re no longer useful tools?
