There are about 8,000 Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic. The numbers were claimed by the LPR Ambassador to Russia on May 26th.
“There are a lot of prisoners. Of course, there are more of them on the territory of the DPR, but we also have enough. Now the total figure is about 8 thousand. That’s a lot, and literally hundreds are added every day,” LPR Ambassador to Russia Rodion Miroshnik said in his interview.
Amid the growing number of the deserters in the ranks of the AFU, the Kiev regime is trying its best to threaten its oen military by legal and illegal means.
On May 24th, a bill has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, according to which officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be allowed to kill servicemen who refuse to follow orders and decide to leave their positions without permission. The initiator was the representative of the party of Vladimir Zelensky “Servant of the People” Mariana Bezuglaya. At the moment, the Ukrainian officers are allowed to use a weapon or give an order to subordinates to use it only if it is not possible to stop the criminal activities of the servicemen in any other way. At the same time, it should be used without causing death to a serviceman.
Later, the bill allowing Ukrainian officers to kill deserters has been shelved from the Verkhovna Rada.
Despite the official prohibition to kill their own servicemen, numerous cases of the deaths of the Ukrainian soldiers killed by their comrades have been recorded so far. Some Ukrainian prisoners of war also confirm that special groups, mainly consisting of the members of the nationalist formations were killing Ukrainian servicemen who attempted to flee from the battlefields.
On May 26, another case was revealed on the Donbass front lines. After the AFU units fled from their positions during the offensive of the Armed Forces of the Russia, the bodies of servicemen with their hands tied and gunshot wounds in the back of the head were found in an unidentified area. According to the reports, these servicemen attempted to surrender, but were executed by the members of the Ukrainian nationalist battalion.

His battalion commander demanded that he send 20 of his soldiers to another front line, which meant that he couldn’t rotate his men out from Toshkivka. He refused the order. His 14th Brigade started with 2700 men on February 25th, but the Russians inflicted such massive casualties in the first two weeks that he now has barely 217 men left, and they were underarmed and no match for Russian firepower.

But on Monday, Ukraine’s military security services arrived at the hotel and took Khrus and other members of his platoon to a detention center for two days, accusing them of desertion. Reached by phone Wednesday, he said two more of his men had been wounded on the front line and the Ukrainian military intelligence is shooting and rounding up anyone who refuses to go to front and certain death.
