Ukraine’s Martial Law Poses Risks Of Conflict Escalation In Donbass

The decision of the Kiev government to impose martial law poses a risk of escalating conflict in certain areas of the country, namely in the southeast, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told media on November 27.

“This is Ukraine’s domestic affair, but amid the elections, certainly, such a step as imposing martial law has a special undisguised undertone. Potentially, the imposition of martial law in some regions may pose a risk of escalating tensions in the conflict-hit region, namely the southeast,” Peskov said according to TASS.

Martial law is entering power in 10 of Ukraine’s 27 regions on November 28. It comes amid the recently escalated tensions between Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea. The situation has been also escalating in the region of Donbass where multiple firefights and artillery strikes have been reported since the November 25.

According to some reports, which have a common sense, it could be expected that Poroshenko will use the martial law regime to kick off a wide-scale crackdown on critics of his regime, first of all opposition politicians, journalists and bloggers.

Diversionary ; this whole episode is simply a diversion, trying to stop the cleaning of Idlib, which would mean a Russian, Syrian, Lebanese and Iranian military victory.
Don’t fall for it Putin. Russian soldiers earned this victory, Syria deserves it, finish it.

    • Mister Mister

Yes agree diverson. But diversion fail. Bridge still stand, no war with Russia and Ukraine. Russia still free to keep ship in Med sea and not move all to Black Sea away from Syria.
UK will try again, they have many men on ships in Black Sea. This why Russia send new missiles to bridge. UK stay away – Russia know your game now, not stupid like English.

Time for a civil war, Ukraine can be the 21st century battleground of the fascists versus the socialists.
The fascist nations of US/UK will support the fascists(Nazis) and Russia will support the socialists.
The Europeans will wring their hands run in circles, scream and shout.

As usual, you beat me to it. but I differ form your description of the civil war. In my view The West of Ukraine will fracture and then explode – no need for to Russian help or the Russian speaking Ukrainians in the East to interfere.

      God willing, but sad anyway.
