The United States is seeking to divide Syria and to trigger a new large-scale all-against-all war in the country, Head of the Main Operations Department at Russia’s General Staff Colonel General Sergei Rudskoi said at the Moscow Conference on Global Security on April 4.
“The United States is set to divide Syria. It has been laying potential groundwork for a new all-against-all war,” the state-run news agency TASS quoted Rudskoi as saying.
The clolonel general draw attention to a US attempt to establish a quazi-state with own armed forces on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. According to Rudskoi, this move is unacceptable.
Rudskoi revealed that Syrian government forces had liberated a total of 113,000 km2 and 1,245 settlements. About 65,000 militants were eliminated during this effort.
“The Syrian government forces have liberated a total of about 113,000 square km and 1,245 communities from illegal armed groups with support from Russia and Iran. About 65,000 militants have been eliminated.”
He added that 6,500 hectares and about 17,200 facilities had been cleared from mines by combined efforts. Furthermore, over 260 UN aid convoys were delivered thanks to security assitance.
