U.S. And Iraq Agree On Withdrawal By Year's End, As Peshmerga Forces Received Military Hardware

On July 26th, US President Joe Biden and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi agreed to a formal end of the United States’ combat mission in Iraq by the end of 2021.

The mission has been going on for longer than 18 years.

In a joint statement issued by the United States and Iraq following technical meetings, the two countries said:

“The security relationship will fully transition to a training, advising, assisting, and intelligence-sharing role, and that there will be no U.S. forces with a combat role in Iraq by December 31, 2021.”

“This is a shift in mission. It is not a removal of our partnership or our presence or our close engagement with Iraqi leaders,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki explained to reporters just prior to the Oval Office meeting.

U.S. troops in Iraq “are capable of doing multiple things,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told a group of reporters in Alaska on July 24th.

The United States and Iraq agreed in April to change the American troops’ mission, which had begun in 2015 and focused on training and advisory roles assisting Iraqi security forces, but there was no timeline for completing the transition.

Coupled with Biden’s withdrawal of the last American forces in Afghanistan by the end of August, the president is completing the longest two US missions, that began at the time of US President George W Bush.

Biden and Kadhimi met in the Oval Office for their first face-to-face talks as part of a strategic dialogue between the United States and Iraq.

“Our role in Iraq will be … to be available, to continue to train, to assist, to help and to deal with Isis as it arises, but we’re not going to be, by the end of the year, in a combat mission,” Biden told reporters as he and Kadhimi met.

Still, the fight was far from over and the US would remain, providing training, which it has been doing for a while.

“Nobody is going to declare mission accomplished. The goal is the enduring defeat of Isis,” a senior administration official told reporters ahead of Kadhimi’s visit.

“If you look to where we were, where we had Apache helicopters in combat, when we had US special forces doing regular operations, it’s a significant evolution. So by the end of the year we think we’ll be in a good place to really formally move into an advisory and capacity-building role,” the official said.

As the end of the combat mission was announced, US delivered military hardware to the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, who are a primary fighter against ISIS in Iraq.

just GTFO of Iraq.

you were weeping and wailing when Saddam was was torturing you, after being liberated you’re now calling them f****. number one Arabian peninsula is collapsing more than any region in the world, more than even Africa

The empire is collapsing.

Perhaps, but this has nothing to do with it. On the contrary, it’s wise to reduce over-extensions. In fact, if anything, this will preserve it a little longer.

It has everything to do with it. No more stealing oil, no more opium farming, no more selling defunct weapons to “allies”, no more terror. They are retreating or diminishing their presence world wide. They are abandoning their allies left and right. They are collapsing.

No, not really. They follow their interests. Let’s see… the Taliban, the US’ bogey-man in Afghanistan will take over. Than the “world” will cry for the US to return, and they will, like the cavalry, as saviours. And noone will dispute it.
Same in Syria. ISIS will “magically” rise in power, and overrun a few places, yapper, the US will return. The US may indeed be collapsing but that’s a different story.

W/o presence in Iraq, they are limited in their operations in Syria. Atm there is only 1 top dog in Syria and that’s Russia, which BTW defeated isis in Syria. Israeli media is alrdy reporting that Russia and U.S. made deal that U. S. won’t do shit of they start shooting down Israeli jets. Congress will cut military spending by more than half w/o those streams of revenue I mentioned before. If Taliban try something funky out of their border both Afghanistan and Pakistan will be get glassed by either Russia or China. Dollar is slowly getting replaced by other currencies in the world trade. The empire is collapsing, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Americunt LOSERS

Also add Italy and may EU puppet occupied basketcases. Iraq will remain occupied and the oil plunder will continue. The only way to get rid of these criminals is sustained resistance.

Technically, Germany isn’t occupied anymore, since 1990. The 2+4 Vertrag (2+4 treaty) stipulates:
Artikel 7

The US certainly still has bases and, not least because of NATO, much influence. It isn’t really an occupation anymore. It surely was til 1990. i.e. for 45 years.

The kurds are going to attack the PMU whit the support from CIA and mossad who stays in Irak. The resistence have to upgrade and detect and exterminate the oil thieves. start whit the politicians who are in the pocket of zionists.

nonsense, if mighty Iran has been deeply penetrated by the mossads who can kill in broad daylight and get away with it without a clue, the talk of resistance is sheer bull*****

Americunt LOSERS

This is just a farce, the Americunts will still occupy Iraq with thousands of rapists and murderers and over 70,000 mercenary contractors. This is just a scam so that the resistance attacks stop. In reality the resistance will redouble its attacks as they all know that the pimp Kadhimi is a mere arselicker. Only sustained resistance will get rid of the Americunt cowards who have destroyed Iraq and have looted over $3 trillion in oil revenues since 2001.

Abu Mehdi

Iraqi PMU and resistance groups reject US phoney withdraw plan as Nujaba (resistance umbrella groups) reacts to pullout deal: Entire US military, including ‘criminal’ air force, must leave Iraq immediately.

US and its NATO lapdogs have no intention of leaving the golden oil goose Iraq, the plunder of Iraqi national wealth under the quisling Kadhimi will continue. It is stolen Iraqi and Syrian oil that is funding ISIS and other Wahabbi terrorist groups in the service of the CIA. The stolen Iraqi and Syrian oil is also funding the murderous occupation of Iraq and Syria and for arming the treacherous Kurds as well. As long as US occupies Iraq and Syria there is no peace or national cohesion. The Kurds now serve as an adjunct occupation force in the northeast and host US and Zionist forces.

Never trust the Americans

America dont care about people only oil

"Israel" is a terrorist European settler colony

US needs to leave Syria and Iraq.

The U.S. just wants to remain to arm the Kurds to keep both Syria and Iraq fractured, we might also arm the Sunnis on the side. So … are the Iraqi Shiites really that naïve to fall for this charade?

Shiite Follow the rule of Pure islamic law thats the reason this criminal take Advantage of innocent islamic law. Shiite has to Follow that.and at the same time they have to be patience and keep watchful eye on enemy. There are many backstabbers among muslim who pretend to be muslim. But surely everything is planedn to get rid of zionist US slowly and steadily.

Americunt LOSERS

As the Shia had no choice but to become warriors and learn to fight as they have no other option as since the early days of Islam they have been victimized by Sunni and then Wahhabi extremist savages. The superbly superhuman sacrifice by Imam Husein against overwhelming odds when he fought the evil forces with a brave band of 72 against 5000. As historians have pointed out the Shia creed was born in battle. Hezbollah is the classic example.

Raptar Driver

They will never really leave Iraq.
Don’t people understand that you can’t make a deal with the beast?

Because oil

Jim Allen

This agreement is a farce, a distraction at best.

Peter Wallace

Trump was trying to withdraw from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq but the deep state blocked every move . Rather than allow Trump the honor they have passed that onto the incoherent babbling moron who doesn’t know if he is Kamala Harris or his wife. Now they will promote him to win the Nobel Peace Prize . Well Obama won it for extending the bombings and killings so why not for putting an end to it , supposedly. Question is has America found out it doesn’t have enough to front up to Iran or China and never can to Russia anyway.

Note the wording: “no U.S. forces with a combat role in Iraq by December 31, 2021”, that doesn’t mean there are no combat troups. Supposedly they have no “combat role” unless “to deal with Isis as it arises”. ISIS “arises” whenever the US asks them too. In addition to that, rest assured tenth of thousands of professional “private security personell”, i.e. US mercenaries will stay behind.

Peter Wallace

Exactly. The old case of no matter how much everything changes it all remains the same. Combat troops will now be called advisors / training / administrative / asset protection forces of a non combat unless attacked units. Pretty much as it has been for months . How many US forces have been killed over the last year . They stand back from the actual fighting . They don’t even provide protection for their supply convoys .
