Two suicide fighters of ISIS attacked the Egyptian Army 101 Division headquarters east of Arish city in northern Sinai on October 12, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq.
Amaq said the two attackers clashed with the guards of the 101 Division base before blowing up themselves. 14 soldiers of the Egyptian Army including one officer were killed in the attack, according to the media outlet.
Moreover, Amaq reported that another unit of ISIS attacked a checkpoint of the Egyptian Army south of Arish town. The source claimed that ISIS fighters killed or injured several Egyptian Army soldiers.
From its side, Colonel Tamer Rifai Spokesperson for the Egyptian Army confirmed that ISIS fighters attacked a checkpoint of the Egyptian Army near Arish city. According to Colonel Rifai, ISIS fighters used hand grenades and light machine guns, and killed 6 army soldiers.
Furthermore, Colonel Rifai announced that the Egyptian Army is now conducting a search operation in the around attack area to capture the attackers.
