On July 3, heavy clashes broke out between the Sultan Murad Division and the al-Muali tribe in the border town of Ras al-Ain in the northern al-Hasakah countryside.
According to local sources, Sultan Murad militants fired a projectile at a house owned by a civilian from the al-Muali tribe in the city of Ras al-Ain. The tribe’s militants, who allegedly fight in the ranks of the Hamza Division, responded by attacking Sultan Murad positions in the town.
Both sides used heavy weapons, including large-caliber machine guns turning Ras al-Ain’s town center into a heated battlefield.

The clashes spread panic among the locals. A young girl was killed. Many other people, including militants, were reportedly injured.
In the last few months, several infightings and a number of incidents involving Turkish-backed militants took place in Ras al-Ain. Last time, the militants assaulted a nurse near the town, provoking protests by the locals.
Turkey is doing nothing to end the chaos in the areas occupied by its forces in northeastern Syria. Ankara maintains strong relations with all of its proxy groups by turning a blind eye to the crime they are committing.
