The so-called Syrian National Army (SNA) announced on November 2 that its militants had shot down a drone of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near the town of Ain Issa in the northern Raqqa countryside
The Turkish-backed group released photos of the downed rotary wing mini drone, which appears to be a commercially-bought type. The drone didn’t appear to be equipped with any optical system, nor armed with any type of projectiles.
Last month, SNA militants shot down at least three drones of the SDF while participating in the Turkish-led Operation Peace Spring. Two of the downed drones were X-UAV Mini-Talon, while the third was a DJI Inspire 2.
The SDF appears to be relying on commercially-bought drones only. These drones are being used for surveillance and information gathering missions.
