Turkey Threatens To Attack Syrian Army If It Enters Afrin To Support YPG

AFP 2018/ ADEM ALTAN

Turkey is ready to attack the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) if it enters the area of Afrin to support the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which are now a target of Ankara’s military operation, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced on February 19.

“If the regime [Syrian forces] enters [Afrin] to clear out the YPG, then there is no problem. If they are entering to provide protection to the YPG, then no one can stop Turkey or Turkish soldiers,” Cavusoglu said.

The statement was made after reports appeared earlier on the same day that the SAA was preparing to enter Afrin under an alleged deal between Damascus and the YPG. MORE DETAILS

So if the saa, the legitimate army on that piece of ground, enters but doesnt do what turkey wants they will attack a sovereign nation? What a joke. But then again, its turkey..

    • Joe

No it’s not a joke if SAA is sooooo stupid to just move in while the Kurds are still armed and in power in Syria.

SAA should not interfere if Kurds ate still in power

It is well known US will not dare to attack Turkish military and may even help Turkey as it is Syrian soldiers defending.

So the silly and stupid SAA deserve it if Turkey strikes them

    • Barba_Papa

It could be a concerted ploy by Turkey and Assad to pressure the YPG into surrendering Afrin to Damascus in full, not some wishy washy compromise that still sees the YPG in Afrin together with the SAA. And one that Assad could never hope to accomplish on his own.

Then again maybe I’m attributing too much intelligence towards Turkey’s leaders.

      • FlorianGeyer

Erdogan has said that Arabs should retain Afrin, but its his paid proxy Terrorist Arabs that he wants to control of Afrin.

        • Graeme Rymill

Erdogan’ senior advisor says something different:

“Turkey is not going to hand over the Syrian area of Afrin to the Damascus government if it’s able to capture it.”

          https://southfront.org/turkey-will-not-allow-assad-to-regain-control-over-afrin-erdogan-adviser/

          • FlorianGeyer

That is what I inferred . Erdogans proxy Arab terrorists will live in Afrin under the effective control of Turkey. Turkey would be the Arab terrorists only source of supply and trade in Afrin.

          • Merijn

          • matt

Wich ugly things do you refer to?
Did you forget the influence of KSA with their filthy wahabi faith spreading all over the world?
Do you think Iran is doing a great job sending weapons, soldiers and ideology to Bahrein, Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon?
Do you think Erdogan is moving turkey in the right direction?
Is Pakistan building a nice society, compared with India?
Are the Indonesians going in a nice direction?
Is Malaysia a shining example of democracy and freedom?

Or are you willing to blame ALL of this on the west? Do they have no own responsibilities

          • Merijn

I’m not a fan of wahhabism…. and you should not forget that Western Intelligence created wahhabism to drive a wedge…..divide & conquer… keeps coming back…. correct me if I’m wrong

          • matt

Wahabism comes from the 18th century and had NOTHING to do with the events that are taking place now!
You are confused with the fact that the USA is USING wahabism for its own purpose. They never urged KSA to build mosques and spreading wahabism everywhere!

          • Merijn
          • Merijn

This was just the first article I found… bet there are plenty more

          • matt

Ate u kiddin me? Iranian news??
And does this article denies the origins of wahabism? No! It does not! Where did the petrodollars came from? From MANY countries! Everytime you drive a car, you finance this sick ideology. Everytime you use a plastic bag, everytime you eat, drink water, put on the computer you are financing them (we are😁)
So in fact we are ALL helping to spread wahabism…

          • Icarus Tanović

VENEZUELA have WAY more Oil than Saudia, and they DO NOT SPREAD Wahabism desease!

          • matt

            Derrr, they aren’t wahabi
            Hahahahaa!!!

          • Dumb Muslims, always the fault of USA or the Jews!

          • OmerAytac

Arabs yep.. Muslims in general – no.

          • Merijn

Yeah You are Right! And Elizabeth II, Europe, NATO and Wahhabistan (with their Jihadi-ISIS-Salafists) it’s their fault too…. bunch of Imperialistic Pigs…..

          • Ronald

That is incorrect , when the US created Al Qaeda , the CIA flew plane loads of Wahhabi Korans from Saudi Arabia into Pakistan to bin Laden for his “Warriors of God” , those jihadists were used by the US to drive Russia out of Afghanistan
The US did encourage KSA to spread Wahhabism , John Brennan former CIA Director himself was a convert to Wahhabi Islam . With Wahhabi ideology the US has “low cost” boots on the ground . Look at ISIS 80 % Saudi and Tunisian

          • matt

Hahahaaaa, you are delusional! This ideology was born before the creation of the USA, dumb ass

          • Icarus Tanović

Argh, shut the fucck up! You must be wether insane, Zionist troll or undereducated.

          • matt

To use those stupid goat fuckers as canon fodder is not the same as converting to it or helping to spread it everywhere….it is backfiring to the USA for some time now. At the same time its still good for the weapon industry, so again you are simplifying things…

          • matt

I wasn’t talking about this specific transfer. In the last 45 years KSA has been trying to spread wahabism to ALL countries with muslim inhabitants.
Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, even to the Carribean. I am sure that was not planned by the USA!

          • Icarus Tanović

They spread Wahhabie Kur´ans everywhere where is American or Western influence. They erased from the books what they dont like and input in there what they do like.
They speak about some jinn beings, supernatural stuff, vampires, who know what all the time.
It is spiritualism, primitivism, fachism, not any type of religion.
They spread fantasies, lies and lies and lies.
In any country that is Muslim and not under American or Western control, you wont find anything like that.
They are pest. They are plague to the World. They are cancer of the World.
Against humanity, against inteliigence, science and logic.

          • Icarus Tanović

They have financed those, you fool!

          • matt

I know that! It is not the same as creating though!!!

          • Icarus Tanović

They have financed theirs creator, and everyone knows that, it’s a fact, man.

          • matt

nobody in the west financed Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, you stupid dickhead!!!

          • Icarus Tanović

Hey slimy slug, save that Zionistic stupidities, and crawl back to the sewer from where you crawl from!

          • OmerAytac

wahabism was dead when the Ottomans killed it in the 19the century. they even made a lesson of it by choping the then son of wahab’s head, putting it in a cannon and firing it across the bosphorus with cheering crouds.

Afterwards, Brits who needed “freedom fighers” against the Ottomans* funded anything in their shallow short interest – funded the sauds who also were adherant supporters of wahabism. 110 years later – bingo!

*: Now repeats with the US trying to create another “freedom fighter” now.

          • matt

Whahahahaaaa, yet another idiot, that needs a hero culture……..

          • achiles Greeko

You are propagating “israeli`s point of view” here under cover of Ojalan. We know such a views since long time. Nobody buys such an opinions in ME.

      • Turbofan

I suspect and wish this is the case but I become pessimistic when I see FSA in the midst

      • You can call me Al

That is what I hope as well, but let’s see.

      • spinworthy .

        Hear hear Barba_Papa!
The deal you refer to was cooked up a while ago with Syria also doing non-stop offers at negotiating with the Kurds. Throw in the Russians and Iranians and the scenario is a multi-folded game of varying degrees of good cop and bad cop tactics.
Cavusoglu is now playing his part right on cue! This is very, very interesting to watch.

      • Roberto

I think you’re right. It’s chess not checkers. The only way both sides win is with Damascus resuming control there. That seems to be the plan, not openly of course.

      • Icarus Tanović

Yeah, I think so too. Great point.
        Anyways, thanks.

      • Joe

Serious it’s a choice for the Kurds in afrin to be under Damascus or Turkey.

The choice is obvious and there is no way for Afrin Kurds to be able to face the Turkish army.

If under the Turks lives will be like hell for them

        A quick decision is needed

        • Barba_Papa

Yeah, the choice was obvious for a long time, and its the reluctance of the Kurds to make that choice that is mostly to blame for this sorry mess. Erdogan may be pulling the trigger, but if that choice had been made earlier there wouldn’t be any trigger pulling.

    • Starlight

Every crack open a history book? May I suggest reading a little about the history of the Turkish Empire.

    • Cedric Hunter

Turkey needs the SAA to come into Afrin, this way the Turks get to coax the Syrian government into zip sealing the border with Turkey without the shame of asking outright for them to do so.
Don’t be fooled people, the Turks aren’t marching on Afrin with full force because they dont want it. Northern Syria ain’t worth having for the Turks. So instead of suffering the humiliation of attacking and holding unwanted ground, the Turks will threaten and bully the Kurds, who will in turn, run to Damascus for help. The war is over.

      • matt

The war is over, yeah right…..I hope you are right, but its far from over

    • Floyd Hazzard

Well in a sense it is and is not Turkey. It’s more America and israel setting bad precedents that others follow. Now everyone feel they can just occupy others territory on any “fighting terrorists” claim.

    • as

Well honestly it could work. Turkey National Army replace Kurds YPG as USA boots on the grounds. If it happens and really only ‘if’ it happen the Kurds would be thrown under the bus by Turkey demands. But then again USA always cheat so Kurds would be ‘pocketed’ for later use against Turkey.
      ..possibly.

    • Lupus

Yeah thats the nature of Turkistan

    • khalkha

So called Syrian arab army the legitimate army on the ground????!!!! First of all a large part of this army are composed of iranians, libaneses, afghanis, Iraqis, mercenaries russians coming from out to kill native people in their own country.
Third, how an “army ” can be legitimate if those who rule it are illegitimates? Don’t you know that Bachar took the power by his father , organizing joke-election to give himself a legitimacy. wake up wake up guy !!!

      • Ronald

        The Syrian Arab Army is 60 % Sunni , 20 % Shia and 20 % Christian .
They are backed by Hezbollah , Iran’s Quds Force , and Russian Special Forces , all at the invitation of the elected government of Syria .
They are not fighting “native people in their own country” but rather Wahhabi jihadists armed and funded by the US , Saudi Arabia , UAE , Qatar and Kuwait .
The government is recognized by the UN. The UN oversaw and monitored the last election in 2014 .
You are a victim of misinformation , or paid to dispense it .

        • khalkha

Elected government ???!!! only one party rules, only one candidate, millions of refugees and displaced in and out couldn’t vote, all this in war conditions all over the country .is this an election seriously for you ? It could be of course if you consider that only his supporters voted…
Let’s go to the second point, wahabis enters syria by hundreds thousands and bachar’s regime saw nothing is just foolishness.
Very large majority which fight are syrians natives, soldiers defected or civilians who have right to choose theirs rulers not russia or iran or else coming from far to decide who is legitimate. Only minority came from exterior. The war is all over the country ,generalized, until the capital is not spared since 7 years .that means it’s a big popular insurrection legitimate .

    • matt

Its not a joke, its islamic fascism

      • khalkha

Where you looked islamic fascism here ? it seems like you’re suffering from an obsession or a hallucination

  • leon mc pilibin

The Syrian army are there to protect their land and their citizens,,kurds, christians, muslims etc. These Turks are sounding like israhelli zionists every day.Time to create a no fly zone over Syria.

    • Joe

      And very stupid too SAA

    • Henk Poell

Indeed, Erdogan seems to have learned a lot from Israel, with Kurds of course acting as the counterpart of the Palestinians. Always making sure to portray the enemy as terrorists, their actions as terrorism, your own actions as security measures, your own fighters as hero’s. And make sure to the rest of the world that they have to accept this version or else no negotiations.

      • Serious

The one acting like isralis are the kurds. Ennemies of kurds are called terrorists. So that, kurds can take and occupy non kurd syrian lands.

        • Henk Poell

The biggest enemy of the Kurds has been ISIS, and yes they are/were in fact terrorists. I hope you can agree with that.

          • Serious

The biggest ennemy of kurds is there grablanding problem. ISIS has been their best friends. Thanks to ISIS they manage to steal half of Syria.

          • matt

            grablanding….hahahahaaa

    • George King

They are not there (SAA) to protect acknowledged terrorist organizations or those affiliated with and weaponized or supported by such entities. You are either a citizen or a traitor to the state, it is all or nothing. That is no different in any country if you arm and try to secede with loot.

      • as

Yes funnily enough the proxies(Kurds) forget they’re just a proxy.

      • Turbofan

The Kurds are rightly or wrongly trying to get what they can out of a messy conflict and who can blame them. My problem with the Kurds is the fact that they are working with imperial Americans who will eventually betray them. The YPG, terrorist or not didn’t start the problems in Syria..The same cannot be said about Turkey. Turkey should leave the Kurds alone and get out of Syria

        • George King

Citizens do not take advantage of their home land in a tragedy, they protect the homeland or they are nothing more than looters and worse traitors to fellow citizens. “rightly or wrongly trying to get what they can out of a messy conflict “

          • Turbofan

“Citizens do not take advantage of their home land in a tragedy”

Kurds are lead by politicians like every other nation or group on the planet ..and thats exactly what politicians do..

          • as

They’re defacto terrorist by forcing Military service into the population.

          • matt

            BULLSHIT!!!

          • Merijn

Nope….. them Kurds are “Could-Have-Been-Heroes”…..that thought they could get a better deal with the enemy… and thus betrayed their Homeland… so I think you can consider them traitors…

          • matt

You are not that informed about kurds i guess, dutch people always think they know better, but they don’t very often :))))

          • Merijn

It’s just a personal opinion…. based on what I read and the actions of the Kurds & the Peshmerga against ISIS in the beginning….. I thought they were Great!….. as the whole situation evolved…… I got dissapointed with the choices they made….

          • matt

Pffffhh, easy talking, from your comfort zone……
They didn’t excactly had much choice did they???

          • Merijn

From my “comfort zone” it appears they had…..I cannot see what happens behind closed doors

          • matt

what choices then???? surrounded by islamic fascist on one side and the arab nationalist assad regime on the other side!!!!
You are either blind or stupid or both

      • matt

That is utter nonesense!!! So you are saying that the resistance in Germany, France and many other countries during Hitlers reign were traitors?!?!?

        • George King

matt, I’m not sure if you are just being shallow or do not know the difference in the matter at hand, so we will leave it with that.

          • matt

            Assad is a little hitler

          • Empire’s Frontiers

It’s odd to see you suggest Hitler was a hero.

          • matt

            You are insane

        • Ronald

The “resistance” in France were hero’s they stood by their nation despite the invading army . There was no “resistance” in Germany to speak of , but they would have been considered traitors .

          • matt

Sorry pal, but France had a fascist government, the Vichy regime that was the little bitch of Hitler.
And sure the german restistance were considered traitors, by the NAZIS!!!!

          • Ronald

Matt ; France was an occupied nation, the SS installed a government through which it gave orders, however this government was not recognized as legitimate by the French people , hence the resistance .
There was no resistance in Germany because Hitler was elected , the German people loved him. Gobbles the master propagandist did not let the people know what Hitler was up to .
Like Americans today who believe the US is fighting terrorism , when in fact they ( CIA, Bush Sr and bin Laden) created Al Qaeda and encouraged the Saudis to spread their Wahhabi Ideology and send jihadists into Syria to effect “regime change”.

          • matt

RONALD, you are simplifying things, like most people on the comment section of this site.
This is your interpretation of what happened, not mine. Many French liked the Vichy government and not all Germans voted for Hitler, he wasn’t elected as Fuhrer, he staged an attack on the Reichstag and could grab power afterwards because of the circumstances.
You obviously did not read a lot about that history, tens of thousands Germans that resisted were killed…

          • Ronald

Matt ; yes I simplified things, one paragraph on the second world war required that I do . My ethnic heritage is German, so I have more than a little background. My grandparents smuggled Jews out of Germany during the war, at great danger to their lives. They were “criminals” by their actions, but not traitors , they never raised arms against Germany . Only Hitler and the SS considered Jews to be the enemy .

Let’s wait before judging the Turks…..can be part of gameplay…..negotiations and all that goin’ on…. Kurds be smart…come to an agreement, let the AngloZionazis go back home…. saves a lot of shit……..

      • matt

Before the USA existed, the ME was fighting endless wars, so don’t think it will be over without the USA or Europe playing their dirty games. When they leave, another country with a sociopath leader will try to grab power.
This is been going on there since, at least 7000 b.c….

        • Merijn

Ever read some European History? We always lived in peace & harmony with eachother here in Europe….no troubles for at least 3000 years……Or so

          • matt

Ofcourse i know european history, but since WW2 we did pretty good.

We now represent the enlightened part of the planet, sorry if you rather hate your own culture, but i look at the facts.
Refugees from all over the planet come to Europe or North america, there are virtualy NO refugees running in the opposite direction.
That is offcourse also because of economic reason, but if you are gay, communist, liberal, atheist or just opposing the regime, you need to run to the west, you don’t run to Russia or China (although i met several Syrian refugees in Bangkok in 2014!)

That never happened in the ME although they once were FAR more developed.
Even in the golden age of islam

          • RikRamz Simz

Your ignorance is frightening. This is why they. Say a little knowledge is dangerous. See the sort of information that is avaliable to you.its sad really. The so called civilization you are so proud of was built on banditry, rape, murder, slavery something you cannot accuse the Russians and the Chinese of. That you are shouting down everyone here certainly doesn’t make your point more valid. And while you are at it,try and read about Abdul Wahab in Saudi and know who is handlers were..

          • matt

HEHEHE, it is your ignorance that is pathetic. ALL ciultures are built on blood, and all the other things you mentioned you silly cow!!! That is the story of humanity ALL over the planet!!!

You are an enormous ignorant fool that probably has a religious background and therefore has an urgent need to clasify the world in good and bad

Sorry, humanity isn’t good or bad, its both!!!! No matter wich culture it moves towards the same crap in the end…..

          • RikRamz Simz

You try to wish the western carnage away by contradicting yourself. Make the comparison yourself and now want me to believe that the western inflicted carnage is pa part of the human condition. Your logic is admirable no doubt but not everything you can twist with language technicality. Tell me about any other race in history have committed the dirt of genocide the westerners have, will you be kind enough?

          • matt

Westerners race? What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Ever understood how China became as big as it is (democide on a huge scale)? Ever studied the genocides in South East Asia? Did you miss the fact that before the current population lived there, black people were living there? Never knew that the Russians whiped out the indiginous siberians just like the west europeans did in the america’s??

You hate yourself, is that it?

          • RikRamz Simz

By westerners I mean Europeans you imbecile. By all accounts the Russia regard themselves as Europeans. Unfortunately I haven’t studied this roll call of genocidal mankind you are probing me on. I can’t hate myself,i am African and that says it all. It’s not easy being you I have observed , at least you are the raging lunatic on the site who seem to have an answer to every question.

          • matt

Indian origins born in africa? Well i have to admit people with lighter skincolor appeared to have been more agressive in human history, although within the out of africa theory of homo sapiens, those black humans did wipe out the neanderthales, homo erectus and other hominids….
In recent history africans were not that peacefull. Sure always easy to blame the west for all the wars in africa, but african leaders also have their responsibilities.

A lot of answers for an imbecil hah?

          • RikRamz Simz

“In recent history Africans were not that peaceful “….look closely to find out that it was when contact was made with the light skinned people that they picked up several behaviors that weren’t in their original structure. The unfortunate side of your exemplary knowledge is that they have been written by light skin folks,if you search further you will uncover several distortions and wild guesses so a little humility will do nicely. As for African leaders taking responsibility, well, that’s a bit of a downer from you .i am disappointed. Since when did the African start determining his affairs? The few naive ones who tried? Else, they are all hired guns with juicy perks .for you to expect standard from them points at dishonesty. You like to win an argument for sure…

          • matt

Oh no, another racist, this time a dark skinned one. Well i won’t blame YOU.

Roughly you are mostly right, i can’t win this one and i don’t want to have an argument with you.

If my skin was dark i would probably be racist :)) but my skin is very pale….

    • Smith Ricky

Agreed, Turky is a Terrorist faction.

    • Starlight

NO- the turks are sounding as they have done for hundreds of years- a power that desires to supress the ambitions of local kurdish groups at all costs.

  • as

Ahhh finally some semblance of consistency from Turkey under Erdogan.

  • EoF

    just fucking LOL

  • TiredOfBsToo

Maybe this was the agreement with the US, ‘help us break up Syria and you’ll get your share of the spoils. We already have the eastern part of Syria, let’s work together on the western part”, otherwise, the whole thing doesn’t make sense. If Turkey is wanting the Kurds off of Turkey’s border, Turkey would need to go all the way to the Iraqi border and yet, no talk of doing anything beyond Manbij. When the YPG/PKK were concentrated east of the Euphrates, Turkey chose to attack Afrin which forced YPG/PKK to run back to Afrin. You’d think that if Erdogan’s talk about a terrorist army in the Eastern part of Syria, he’d attack over there. No talk of that any more. No outrage from Erdogan about the YPG/Pkk attack inside of Turkey. Something indeed is rotten here! Hmmmmmmmm

    • Merijn

If Assad & Turkey have a good agreement on bordersecurity and all that. And Assad a good agreement with’m Kurds…. things will be pretty much alright I think….no need to talk to much more people than those three….

      • TiredOfBsToo

        I hope you’re right.

      • Rüdiger Preiss

Syria (Assad) & Turkey might get a good agreement. But not under Erdowahn.

  • George King

Key to this statement remembering that the Kurdish factions are being supplied weapons and commands from a foreign power whose aim is to separate Syrian citizens from its Treasure, Commons and unalienable Rights is “to support the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG)”. I don’t believe there is any objection to disarming Kurds and control of Syrian national goverment established who will enforce a no tolerance of terrorism against either the Syrian state or Turkey.

  • Mountains

This is what I have been saying. You can’t pull this childish narrative on Turkey and coming up with kindergarten deal under them.

That whole talk is to late. If the SAA were going to enter then they should have done it before the operation olive branch. It’s to late and they should stop talking nonsense

    • Jorj_Mckie

      Bullshit!

  • Trustin Judeau

Russia closed the Efrin airspace for Turkish jets for few days so if Russia agrees with potential SAA – YPG deal,Turkey cant do anything.

    • Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

      Nice whered u hear this?

  • Joe Doe

Here goes, Putin and Russia another blunder. Putin and Lavrov got fooled again. Turkey plan is not about Kurd’s,but rather conquer Syria. Will Putin made hard stand against Turkey and fix the own blunder, or will Putin put his tail between legs and run

    • John Mason

How did you come to that conclusion? Problem with the Kurds and Turkey is Syria’s not Russian.

      • Joe Doe

Russia invited Turkey to Syria to monitor deescalation zone and looks like Putin failed to be cautious with Erdagon and prepare plan B in case Erdagon will try conquer Syria. Specially Russia has issues with Erdagon before. Only fool could be blind and trust Erdagon

        • John Mason

Don’t believe that Erdogan has managed to fool Putin at all. Putin does have Turkey under his thumb, for example the pile line going to Turkey, trade, S400 and most likely quite a few more that we don’t know about. What we are told is not necessarily what is taking place and Putin did state that Russia will not meddle in Syrian internal affairs nor will Russia fight for Syria other than the terrorists.

          • Joe Doe

I don’t think Putin has Erdagon under his thumb. In addition, you can’t make blunders and not take responsibility. I don’t think that so, that Assad would agree lease two military bases in Syria for Russia for free, just to fight terrorist ISIS. The deal was to protect Syria from foreign aggression in addition to fight ISIS

          • John Whitehot

“The deal was to protect Syria from foreign aggression in addition to fight ISIS”

            Where is this written?

Find some document proving it or bring your vulgarities over to CBS.

          • Joe Doe

Every weak nations looks for protections under stronger nation umbrella . Only fool can think otherwise.

          • John Whitehot

so you admit you talked bs.

there is no officialty, only your pro-zionist pro-yank gossip.

          • zman

This guy (joe blow) is a continuous liar. You’ll find that he makes a lot of comments that are only for propaganda and stirring the pot. He made my block list awhile back.

          • Joe Doe

It’s your choice to be stupid, idiot and blind and pretend that everything is great

          • John Whitehot

if you are into blocking propaganda you better counter the “arguments” instead of blocking the user so not to see it. Putting head under the sand doesn’t do any good.

          • zman

Don’t you get it?…there are no arguments to counter with these guys. They are here only to disrupt, not discus. Discussion means serious give and take. Spewing propaganda continually and name calling have nothing to do with discussion. Letting these trolls steer and denigrate a discussion has no value and contributes nothing. Rehashing the same old MSM/western lies over and over serves no purpose, except to control the discussion. If I want to waste my time, I will do it under my conditions, not theirs.

          • John Whitehot

“If I want to waste my time, I will do it under my conditions”

            Exactly.

          • John Mason

Russia has been awarded by Syria, the recognized government the oil and gas reserves. Now that Russia has this and it is supported by International Law, UN Charter, don’t you think that Russia will bring this up in the UNSC and demand that the US and Turkey leave, peacefully. Like I stated, we are not privy to what is happening behind closed doors and can only make assumptions based on an educated guess. Who is right or wrong doesn;t come into the equation until the final act has been played out and the curtain is drawn.

          • Joe Doe

Well, UN lost its legitimacy. UN became another american political arm and mostly server in the interest of Americans. Only Russia veto power keep some balance.Syria have no choice to award contracts to Russia for Oil and Gas. Awarding such contracts to Americans and western countries I think will be a bad choice.
For me is very clean cut. Putin try please Edagon by hoping that Turkey will leave NATO, which will lead to larger buffer zone between NATO and Russia. Edagon is very unpredictable and will never leave NATO and NATO will never kick Turkey from NATO, because Turkey strategic location. Now is the Putin responsibility to make Turkey leave Syria

          • electron

What a croak of bull crap!

  • John

The SAA is concentrated in East Ghouta now, supposedly 5 divisions and 3 brigades of Republican Guard. Once that is cleaned up, a lot of firepower gets freed up. The Kurds are going to bleed for months up in Afrin. The YPG is getting it’s lunch taken by a coup depleted Turkish army and it’s beaten up mercs. That could easily go on for 6 more months to a year. This punishment will tear the guts out of the YPG, which is not all it is espoused to be anyway. Once all of the excess strength of the YPG/PKK is washed up and other more important projects for the SAA are completed, they will need to push into Afrin.

Turkey is chopping up the Kurds, for the purpose of a new homeland to accommodate their jihadists. Turkey knows that the SAA and Co. will steam roll them in Idlib eventually and is playing ahead of the curve. The Kurds in both Syria and Iraq miscalculated and relied way too much on US backing. It was stupid in the end, because it opened the opportunity for what happened in Iraq and now in Afrin. As for the US, support for them is buckling in Congress, as the rise of ‘lets get the hell out of Syria’ is growing. In an old American vernacular, the Kurds have ‘screwed the pooch’. My take on the mess at this point. I wish well to all.

    • John Mason

Tend to agree with you, there is more going on in the background to what we are privy to.

  • Feudalism Victory

    Here it comes…

  • François

AS simple reminder, Erdogan when younger was a violent thug gangster. Then, He has long been supporting Muslim Brotherhood that are the US-Zionist muppets serving western interests in Muslim countries, like real traitors.
For instance, Erdogan was the “Big Daddy” behind Chechenia war, Afghanistan war against the Russian, fierce support of ISIS, buying looted petroleum. In Syria, he also looted all the industrial machineries in Aleppo, using his FSA/Al Qaeda proxies.
Well? I would personnaly not trust such a thug.

SAA should not interfere in this war.

    • Skagos

Muslim Brotherhood is insanely anti-US. That’s why in Egypt, army(backed by USA and Saudi Arabia) did a coup and removed them from power.

    • Serious

It’s a myth that muslim brotherhood are with USA. It’s just that, like Muslim Brotherhood are sunni, they always fail in everything they do because sunnis are stupid. Also, Sunnis have the same agenda of universal government and mix-race people as USA. So, the root of the movement is weak.

      • Smith Ricky

        Its a fact

        • Serious

It’s a myth. The Muslim Brotherhood even did war against israel in 1948. The problem with MB is that it’s an universal movement. So, it will fail just like religions always fail, communism failed, capitalism failed, human right garbage failed, …..

    • Joe Doe

Here goes, Putin made another blunder at the expense of Syrian people. Erdagon is to conquer Syria, NOT helping Syria

      • François

Yes, but Kurds are the same way dangerous, they serve Zionist project in Syria, and as such will soon have deeper links with Israël.

        • Joe Doe

Yes, I am no in favor Kurd’s ether, because what they did in the East of Syria and Assad is right to make such demands from Kurd’s before sent SAA

    • matt

He is still a violent gangster

  • That Guy

    Go suck a dick Turkey.

    • Wahid Algiers

Yes, Turks like sucking dicks. And then hide under the skirt of your ugly mother, fucken Turk.

  • Ice Icegold

    😂😂😂😂😂😂

  • Joe Doe

Assad should obtain better Air Defenses such S-400, Pantsir-S1 or S2, VERBA MANPAD, as looks like e is on his own Attack helicopter and SU-30 and YAK-130 as addition. Not to many thanks, only few.

  • Starlight

Yawn- its the ancient game. Putin allows Turkey to slap the kurds around and put them in their place. Then, when the kurds are willing to cry ‘uncle’ again for another decade, the Syrian government rushes in and ‘saves’ them. This has NOTHING to do with the greater Syrian war, but how the kurds are always handled.

And Putin’s timing is DESPERATE, as he seeks a ‘victory’ that deflects from the FACT that he gave the greenlight to Trump to exterminate Russian irregulars in Syria days ago.

Lavrov, yesterday, gave a speech where he swore Russia’s undying loyalty to Israel, and promised Russia would always be Israel’s protector. He stated that Iran should stop threatening to “destroy” Israel (a well proven jewish lie always propagated in the jewish controlled mainstream media).

He also answered a question repeating that America “SHOULD” leave Syria- but not that Russia DEMANDED that the USA leave- a massive distinction. A bit like a policeman seeing a shop being robbed says to the robbers “you SHOULD leave the premises” and then the policeman walks away while the robbers continue to rob.

    • Steve Bell

Putin doesn’t want another Mossad arranged false flag job in Russia before the election, and with millions of dual nationality Russian-Israelis available, it’d be easier to pull off than another 9-11.

    • electron

Yawn; the ancient sales technique of telling others what they want to hear.

  • Gue Bjuen

so there must be a rift between the kurds. US-kurds vs syria-kurds. if we put all the puzzles together,
the deal must be of restoring power of syrian government in afrin. that’s what the tukrish pm says.
they will attack the government forces only if they enter afrin TO SUPPORT YPG.

if there was a finalized deal between afrin kurds and the syrian government, that only can mean
all the US slave pig kurds must leave afrin. only the once who are willing to join the syrian government are allowed to stay. if this is done tukey will end the operation in afrin and probably continue in manbij.

afrin was a warm up. it was very important to see and witness the US reaction of the turkish move.
the US could not intervene in anyways but only giving lip service for their kurdish pets.
but the real deal is manbij, where actually US ground forces are present.

if there no kurds there are no US forces. the US can only maintain in syria operational with the kurds.
without the kurds, the US has to redeploy massive units from their own arsenal. that would coast
hell more than the amount they are paying already to their slaves right now. and consider about their cassulties. and as we all know, the US army has the highest coast of operating in the world.

if only the turks are able to kick the kurds out of manbij with a similar deal like afrin,
that would be the best way to kick the US out of syria. when manbij falls, raqqa and der azzor will fall
    alongside.

tell me i’m crazy, but this is the most peaceful way to kick the US out of syria for good.

    • Wahid Algiers

      Good plan. And practicaple.

  • Rafik Chauhan

Turkey want to use terriost against terriost and they will also attack SAA. If they enter Afrin. What a joke . turkey is digging thier own grave . They use terriost against Syria and now they are telling they are fighting terriost. . Turkey aim is to occupy Afrin and give to terriost FSA and Alqaida for thier own benefit. SAA should attack turkey if FSA or Alqaida attacks SAA . This warning should be given to turkey

  • Manuel Flores Escobar

I suppose that Turkey want that kurds in Afrin be under Syria goverment like in Aleppo city…NOT under USA coalition govern in Afrin( it means a kurdish state) and SAA just having a testimonial presence…

  • Xanatos

Turkey is talking like israel: “Do not defend yourself when we attack your country”.

    • Wahid Algiers

      Mongol jews.

  • Real Anti-Racist Action

SAA should stay out of the fighting for a measly 6 months. Allow 2 enemies to take each other out with the same stone of ignorance.
SAA still has not come close to liberating the rest of Syria. They still need to liberate the Damascus countryside.
The Golan Heights from Jewish occupation.
Eastern Syria from the Kurdish invaders.
Then they can walk into Northern Syria and pick off the last Kurdish terrorist and Turks hiding among the rocks.

    • Wahid Algiers

Learn to play chess. An involvement now in Afrin by the Syrians itself is very important to deal with the Idlib and Afrin problem. The Turkish dogs are only barking. When the SAA secures the borders in the north of Afrin the will be satisfied. Other thing will be when SAA will take out the FSA in Idlib and around to push through to the border with Turkey in northwest. I think then the Turks will bark again because they then have to feed thousands of fled FSA traitors in Turkey.

  • Rodney Loder

The Kurds in Afrin have handed over heavy weapons already and will disarm completely unless reenlistment is accepted by the Syrian government in the SAA.
This noise coming from the Turkish Foreign Minister is designed to draw support from Washington in the hope of getting Syrian Turkish rivalry on the boil.

Trump will jump at the opportunity.

I think the US is only being played for a mug, and when it reacts positively to Ankara’s threats like in the Korean peninsula the US will be marginalised and seen as arrogant trouble makers.

  • Bulgarian God

  • Anthony Paul Mapes

The problem with the Turkish position is this: currently they are conducting operations against a militia that they consider a terrorist organisation, by attacking SAA they loose this position as they are attacking a force of a sovereign nation and violating numerous UN resolutions!

However over the past 30 years the UN has become nothing more than a cheap joke, multiple members violate resolutions on a daily basis with little to no repercussions. The only possible outcome for the Afrin area is for the Kurdish forces to withdraw east of the Euphrates and to allow the Damascus government full control.
The SAA will protect the native Syrian Kurdish population as they have done with the Druze and Christian tribes!

    • Wahid Algiers

But there is one difference: Christians and many Druze are fighting for Syria. Kurds always tried to get what not depends to them – in Afrin as east of Euphrates. So the SAA should mainly fight for the own soil threatened by Turkish mama’ s nipple lickers.

  • Samantha Green

Syria is a far bigger threat to ABORTION RIGHTS in Afrin than Turkey is, so the SDF should be negotiating with Turkey over Afrin administration, not Syria..

  • khalkha

Turkey is going on , bachar’s army or not .if they want to be killed so come on ! Usa were warned to be targeted if they stay in the field . Plus bachar’s army can’t open new front with a big power regional like turkey, in conclusion assad is near from the end , because of lot of pressure

  • Tom Tom

Little Turkish men won’t be able to stand up to little YPG and especially now that the SAA’s closing a deal with Kurds. Little Turkish men will back out and then save their little pride by invading Greece, a sitting duck. When, not if, that occurs, the Turks will see that the Russians set them up. Turkmen make up only 40 million of the total 70 million in Turkey. They will take Greece but then be destroyed. All of Turkey will convert to Christianity (many are secret Christians now!) and Byzantium/Constantinople will return to its original owner. All of western Turkey was Greek. Mongol turks will go live in the eastern deserts where they belong and where they will end up:

    https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-02-19/turkey-threatens-invade-greece

  • northerntruthseeker .

This is indeed puzzling and should have everyone asking questions about Turkey’s real motives in Afrin..

And as everyone is stating, Afrin is part of SYRIAN sovereign territory, and therefore the SAA has every right under international law to be there to defend their own territory…

I am indeed hoping that Turkey is spewing hot air here and that they are not stupid enough to now declare open war against Syria itself…

    • Ronald

Tillerson tried to sell Erdogan on a “Joint Turkish-American Security Zone” running from Afrin to the Iraqi border possibly beyond to the Iranian border. We will see if he falls into the US trap .

  • PZIVJ

SAA and Russia may be willing to do nothing for a while here.
Let the Afrin Kurds take some punishment if they don’t want to come to a good deal, until Afrin becomes a deescalation zone. Remember Deir Ezzor.

Syria risks being over committed militarily if it clashes with Turkey at the moment. For that reason I cannot see the SAA entering Afrin whilst its military focus is in eastern Ghouta.
