On October 16, a missile was fired into the sky on Turkey’s Black Sea coast where the military was expected to test its Russian-made S-400 defence systems. The video was filmed in the coastal city of Sinop and showed a narrow column of smoke headed high into the blue sky.

Turkey’s defence ministry said it would neither deny nor confirm missile tests. Nonetheless, the reports about the further tests of the S-400 system by Turkey already caused an increase of tensions between Ankara and its NATO allies.

Luckily 2nd stage ignited.

CRAP!

verner

they bought it and trying out the new stuff is sort of a corollary and the morons in the white house, from trump, kushner to pompeo, can wail, rant and rave and threaten as much as they want, but the s400 will soon be an integral part of turkey’s defense.

Angry Birds

Mmmmmehmetcik kebab my favorite dish

verner

sure make a lot of sense scatterbrain

Random Dude

Meanwhile Armenian S300 learned how to fly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtMoQ0IkdH8

aces

armenians dont know how to use it thats why…s300 is a little bit old but still powerful…s400 rules…

Random Dude

Maybe they don’t know. But S300 itself is a good system. But Drones kinda changed air defense in general. Different systems cover different altitudes and distance, along with against different threat. But drones are like a loophole of the air defense

HB_Norica

Exactly. People don’t seem to get that air defence is a system of weapons that include missiles, aircraft and EW.

The same way that ground attack aircraft rely in air superiority fighters to allow them the freedom to operate and those air superiority fighters rely on AWAC’s, tankers and EW aircraft to provide that cover for ground attack planes.

Take any link out of the chain and the system starts falling apart.

Saying the S-300 is ineffective because it can be taken out by drones is like saying a n M4 is a shitty rifle because a soldier armed with it got killed. It says more about the soldier than the weapon.

swedish_viking

Armenian S-300 are protecting that Russian air-base at Erebuni in Armenia.
The only way to attack them would be to attack the Russian air-base in Armenia, if that would have happened then you would have heard from Russia and CTSO.
Just like Israel can’t attack S-300 in Syrian without attacking Russian bases.

Random Dude

So if the Armenian S300 wasn’t in fact protecting Russian airbase but was moved to cover NK territory, then we will not hear from Russia/CSTO? Lets wait and see, if we hear or not

swedish_viking

S-300 is an integrated air defense system that can’t just be moved to territory in another country.
They can’t just move it to Nagorno-Karabakh and it wouldn’t fill any purpose to do so at all.
Do you really think Russia would allow them to move the air defenses from the Russian air base when a conflict is ongoing?
It’s only war propaganda, no S-300 have been destroyed or moved to Nagorno-Karabakh.

Random Dude

Do you really think Russia would hand over the protection of its base which is few kilometers away from a NATO country?

swedish_viking

You don’t seem to understand that it’s a collaboration between allied countries.
Armenian S-300 is just one more layer of protection just as Syrian S-300 is in Syria.
Russia still has their own air defenses in Armenia but that doesn’t change anything.

Random Dude

Very interesting collaboration you speak of. When it comes to protection of Armenian border with Turkey, and Iran, Armenia doesn’t have enough troops and equipment, but for protection of base it magically appears. And Russia that protects those borders, instead of Armenia, can’t man its own equipment for base protection.
Syrian bases are protected by Russian S400, manned with russian soldiers.
Armenian bases of Russia are protected by Russian S300, manned with russian soldiers.
Its you who doesn’t understand these simple things.
And note on your username: midlanders were farming not raiding.

swedish_viking

Do you know that the Syrian S-300 is located in the proximity to the Russian air defenses in Syria and why do you think it’s like that?
Do you know that there’s something called CTSO?
Where did you get that Russia “can’t man its own equipment” from?

Random Dude

1. Syrian S300 is in junkyard after being blown up by Israel. And that was near Damascus
2. CSTO doesn’t mean outsourcing the air defense of own base
3. From your comments
Do you want to move our discussion under this article?
https://southfront.org/azerbaijan-released-video-showing-strikes-on-armenian-s-300-air-defense-system/

swedish_viking

1. Israel hasn’t blow up any S-300 in Syria, was it a dream you had?
2 and 3. No one said that you draw strange conclusions by adding you own fantasy to everything.
One thing doesn’t mean that also another thing can be true things isn’t just black or white.

JIMI JAMES

Hey assflogg save the tripe for the gaybar, kweers like to hear all kind of bullsht!
Tyrant wannabe lieing piece o sht with your fake news, fake superiority up ye cakeholes!Got nothing on the truth, don’t matter either way you p00fs only have aids!

Jim Allen

Russia also has S-300 defending it’s Syrian air base, and these aren’t the only air defenses Russia has deployed.
Russian S-300 systems with Russian crews protect it’s base. Armenia has it’s own S-300 systems, as it was used against the drone’s in the early days of the war.
It’s also known Russian Il-76, and
An-124 cargo aircraft are landing in Armenia very frequently, it appears there’s no shortage of weapons on the Armenian side.
Both sides are lying to the media.

swedish_viking

You can move a KUB, BUK, TOR, Pantsir-S and so on but and S-300 needs to be in the vicinity of the integrated network.
An S-300 is used to protect special points of interests in the country and isn’t moved away from those POI, it’s not like those POI won’t need protecting anymore.

Random Dude

Are you saying that Russia relies on Armenia for protection of its own base?

Jim Allen

I didn’t hear him say that.

Random Dude

Remind me what are the wheels for under S300 complex

Jim Allen

The wheels are thoughtfully mounted on the transport vehicles, S-300 components are mounted on.

HB_Norica

Why would a road mobile missile system be unable to move? The whole point of putting missiles on wheels is to shoot and scoot.

Why can you move the other nodes in the network and not the S-300?

swedish_viking

You can move it inside the networked integrated air defense system (IADS), it’s an advanced layered defense system.
Why do you think it took so many months to get the Syrian S-300 operational in Syria and why did it take about 10-12 months for S-400 to reach operational status in Turkey?
It’s very complex to setup and integrate these air defense networks.
Only because it have wheels doesn’t mean that they just can be driven and used in another country.
I don’t think you comprehend how complex these systems are.

HB_Norica

“Why do you think it took so many months to get the Syrian S-300 operational in Syria and why did it take about 10-12 months for S-400 to reach operational status in Turkey?”

Training …. These are advanced weapons systems costing upwards of $B a battery …. you can’t just buy one at the Walmart, plug it in and it works …. you have to learn how to use them, set them up and maintain them. You also don’t want to skimp on the training seeing as the missiles can easily take down friendly aircraft, civilian aircraft or take out a building.

“Only because it have wheels doesn’t mean that they just can be driven and used in another country.”

This is the line I was replying to”

” You can move a KUB, BUK, TOR, Pantsir-S and so on but and S-300 needs to be in the vicinity of the integrated network.”

All the above systems are part of the integrated network. What you are saying makes about as much sense as saying a laptop can’t be moved because it’s part of an integrated network …. as long as you’re in range of the other nodes the S-300 or any current Russian air defence weapon can be part of the air defence network.

What they are doing is sharing radar information … they can operate as stand alone weapons relying on their own radars without the network.

“I don’t think you comprehend how complex these systems are.”

You are entitled to your opinion however please note that in the spirit of common courtesy I am keeping my opinion of your understanding of Russia’s air defences to myself.

HB_Norica

That’s laughable.

The Black Sea coast is Russia’s ‘soft underbelly’ and is constantly patrolled by NATO warships. They have very strong air defences in that region and besides that the Caucasus region is coveted by the USA because of it’s strategic importance but also because of Caspian oil. There is no way the Russians would leave the defence of their homeland to Armenians

Israel can’t attack Syria’s S-300 because they can’t attack Syria’s S-300. They get around it by attacking Syria with standoff weapons from Lebanon’s Bekka valley which is hidden from air defences by mountains.

swedish_viking

It’s not true hat every launcher carries 4 missiles it can carry less or more missiles.
They don’t need to equip every one of the four missiles spots but an spot can also be equipped with smaller missiles and then hold 3-4 missiles in one missile spot.

in the event of Turkey going to war with Russia,Turkish s-400 will be targets of Russian SEAD operations.

ordinaryjoe405

I know the “Dogs” mad, but a war with Russia, he’s not that mad

<>

What does it mean for the U.S-Turkey relations? can any Turkish guy here explain it from their POV, are they willing to face sanctions as Trump promised (I hope not)? thanks.

aces

it means a huge blow to usa-turkey relations…s400 is purchased to overcome a threat coming from nato….turkey wants to have better relations with russia but it is too much scared of the usa…moves away step by step…

<>

So do you think it will get worse now?

aces

there is a deep distrust between tayyip and usa…i dont anticipate a better contact until he is gone…after him who knows?…

Did anyone else hear of Turkey using it’s F-16’s to calibrate the S-400’s radar so it was able to detect/track/monitor etc the F-16’s more efficiently? A friend of mine told me that Turkey did this which angered the US because it now means that Russia is in possession of data from the Turkey S-400’s radar systems specific to the detection of the F-16’s. The F-16’s that Turkey are using are modified models that are for use in NATO and so therefore the US would have similar specifications, thus the reason the US is angry with Turkey about this. Can anyone confirm this? Cheers

FlorianGeyer

LOL.

viktor ziv

““If confirmed, we would condemn in the strongest terms the S-400 test missile launch as incompatible with Turkey’s responsibilities as a NATO ally and strategic partner of the United States,” State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said on Friday.” maybe this confirms it…

Angry Birds

Thanksgiving is coming, turkey on the menu, Biden and the Obama Family can’t wait :)))

NatureTruth

There are news that Erdog may handover some S400 to USM in exchange of F35 fighters later. Erdog is playing multifaceted games.

JIMI JAMES

f35s are shtfights, erdo aint that dumb,f35s are failure exception being scam and eternal debts!
