Several squadrons of Turkish soldiers and 22 armored infantry vehicles are going to cross the Turkish-Syrian border.
The Turkish Defense Ministry has announced an increase of the number of military hardware and troops, involved in the country’s military operation on the territory of Syria, also known as the Euphrates Shield operation. In the frameworks of the operation, the Turkish Army has been supporting the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA), operating in the northern part of the Syrian Arab Republic. Recently, after a long break, the FSA was involved into armed clashes with the Syrian government army in the area of al-Bab.
As the Anadolu news agency reported, citing the Turkish military command, another convoy of military hardware has arrived to the Syrian border. Reportedly, 22 armored infantry vehicles and several squadrons of Turkish soldiers are going cross the Turkish-Syrian border in the very near future.
Will remind, in the course of Operation Euphrates Shield, Turkish troops conduct warfare not only against terrorists of the Islamic State (IS) group, but also against armed groups of Kurds.
Just a few days ago, one of the American Generals said that a supplemental reconnaissance of the situation in the north of Syria and in Raqqa city was carried out. As a result, the US concluded that there is a need of additional arming of Kurds, for example, with anti-tank missile systems. These statements of the American commander caused criticism by the Turkish official authorities, for whom the IS, apparently, is not the main goal in the Syrian Arab Republic.
