Truman Carrier Strike Group Enters Mediterranean As Tensions Remain High In Region

The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (CSG) has entered the Mediterranean Sea, the US Naval Institute (USNI) news reported on April 19.

On April 11, the Truman CSG left Norfolk for a scheduled deployment to the 6th Fleet and 7th Fleet areas of operation. On April 14, the USA, UK and France launched 105 missiles from both ships and aircraft against supposed chemical attack in Douma.

On April 18, the Truman CSG entered the region to support NATO allies as well as European and African partner nations, according to a press release by the US 6th Fleet:

“We are thrilled to have the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group here in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations and look forward to having them on our team as we conduct the full spectrum of maritime operations to include working alongside our NATO allies and regional partners. Our U.S. 6th fleet motto is ‘Power for Peace,’ and there is no more recognizable symbol of American naval power than a carrier strike group. Their presence in this vital region is a reflection of our commitment to a safe, prosperous and free Europe and Africa”.

The USNI writes:

The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group includes USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1, guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG-60), and guided-missile destroyers USS Arleigh Burke (DDG-51), USS Bulkeley (DDG-84), USS Farragut (DDG-99), USS Forrest Sherman (DDG-98), USS The Sullivans(DDG-68) and USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG-81). German frigate FGS Hessen (F-221) is also joining the Truman CSG for this deployment.

The Truman CSG includes twice the number of ships that were part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike group that operated in the same regions a year ago. The Bush CSG included USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77), and Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Laboon(DDG-58) and USS Truxtun (DDG-103); and guided missile cruisers USS Philippine Sea (CG-58) and USS Hue City (CG-66).

The deployment of the Harry S. Truman CSG in the Mediterranean Sea, near Syria, is a clear signal of possible escalation in the region. On April 14, the US, the UK and France carried out a massive missile strike on government targets in the war-torn country. However, the situation still remained tense. The US-led bloc has repeatedly threatened to carry out more strikes on Syria and even against Russian forces deplyoed there since then.

Some Syrian experts even believe that the CSG may participate in a new round of attacks against the country.

America is going too far. They really do want war.

    • George King

They will not get it, those sworn soldiers of all ranks will walk to the line but they never promised to sacrifice their families for a criminal cabal, how do we save them and their families and bury the cabal. Now that is the question

    • Merijn

      Bwahahaha…..good joke….you so funny…thanks needed a good laugh….

Bullies often lack the Brains…. but even Bullies recognise a Nuclear Warhead….and know the Damage it can do….uhuhuhuuhuh…

      • Promitheas Apollonious

Dont laugh it is exactly what they been ordered to cause, to happen. And is what they are doing.

        • Merijn

Yeah…Probably there are some Hidden Tricks in there…but the Russians are very Good in anticipating…they probably keep on trying their shit for another 3 Years…until they are completely exsanguinated….Kill the FED…Presidents have Tried to Fight their System Alone and their Brains were Blown out…now is the Best Time to Finish it…in my humble opinion…

  • Tim Webb

Presumably the CSG will launch missile attacks against the war criminals recently responsible for the illegal assaults against Syrian sovereignty.
    Oh but wait…

  • Blucross

Trump’s attacks are insane, and I as an American demand a cease and desist.

    • jerry hamilton

      That should fix it. lol

      • Blucross

Drove you into sarcasm did I jerrry.

        • jerry hamilton

          No. Not sarcasm. Irony.

          • hamster

“every american” would never demand a cease and desist. There are so many fucking morons in this country who believe that the US can do no wrong. They’re just “pro-American” regardless of what America chooses to do in its foreign policy. In fact, there’s a substantial number of morons who will support what America does even if America flip-flops or changes a particular policy multiple times.

And then there’s also a whole contingent of morons who thinks America should be the breadbasket and policeman of the world.

And then there’s another contingent of morons who basically oppose 100% of everything America does at any given moment regardless of whether it is good or bad. And if American policy changes, their positions change, and they automatically start opposing whatever the new policy is.

No nuance, no attempt to study given problems with any objectivity or depth. Sorry to say, but it is not just the “government”. Many Americans are just straight up fucking morons who are either blindly patriotic or completely apathetic when it comes to important foreign policy issues.

          • Peter

@hamster; recall US v.p.George Bush sr’s ‘very exceptionalist’ comment following worldwide criticism over the USS Vincennes’ trigger happy shootdown of Iran civilian flight #665 over Iran. “I will never apologize for the United States, whatever the facts are.”

          • Joe

I think the worse that can happen to America is that they can go throw away whatever creditabilities they have remaining to the dustbins so that their current petty agenda is satisfied.

How on earth they can go to world stage and lie with straight faces about Chemical attacks yet forgetting previous proven fakes. Yet the MSM continue to dish out so obvious fakes.

What is even more alarming is that the PRESIDENT OF MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY can act on an “act” of little significance on a few people by people unknown except that they wore white helmets.
..and these can go all the way to the Security councils !

Seems they do not even have brains to cook up a better excuse to strike Syria which in any event does absolutely nothing to the outcome of the war except to waste US140 million for some fireworks and destruction of a few buildings which Syrians can use.

Another stupidity is the act to bomb a Chemical Factory (if it is true). How many would have died as collatoral damage in that area? Far more than the few babies supposedly kill in that fake CW attacks.

One see today how childish that Nikki was/is/will be and she thinks she is the President talking as a global power and can insult a major power like Russia as nothing in the Security council

It has gone to such low levels that we cannot teach our children even to emulate.

It has gone kiddy with nukes.

In short , the world has gone mad and very dangerous indeed with proven war hawks advising whatever you call him.

    • 1691

Good, now make yourself more vocal in America!

    • Rob

Destroying an aircraft carrier so easy. Syria just need to use antiship ballestic missiles. Cruise missiles are the weapons of the past.

      • johnbrown2042

        Remember the USS DONALD COOK……

    • Merijn

USS Harry S. Truman, Carrier Air Wing, guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy, and guided-missile destroyers USS Arleigh Burke, USS Bulkeley, USS Farragut, USS Forrest Sherman, USS The Sullivans and USS Winston S. Churchill. German frigate FGS Hessen is also joining the Truman….

I Wonder how Long it will take for these boats to sink, after the war started and they took some direct hits….Nice Führerin Merkel comes with the Fleet too….now that’s a reason to get really scared

Let’s hope that the Seppo navy is rehearsing emergency reactor shut-downs.

    • psychodrill

American here too. Been following the “civil” war and the “Arab Spring” since the beginning of the current propaganda cycle. The reality of what is going on is so pathetically transparent; there’s no need to be “pro-Russia” or something so trivial, when the facts are all over the place.

Unfortunately the news outlets are in lockstep as they were before the Iraq invasion of 2003. I’m not a fatalist but the second our dissent is threatening our voices will be silenced. The fact that if I share a link from this site (as I did years ago) then I will be a Russian propagandist. People say that with a straight face; we’re too far gone for reason.

Pretty scary considering we’re on a “Titanic” filled with WMD’s and the rich and powerful have the lifeboats ready to go.

      • jerry hamilton

I feel for you. If you are honest, you are unpatriotic.
That alone shows who the elephant in the living room is.
It does not matter who you vote for, the government always get in.
But… The puppet in charge is just that.
The evil cabal decide what happens.

    • 5commando

I feel the same way, but the deep state is in control of Trump now. They’ve got his balls in a vice somehow.President Trump’s foreign policy actions are totally incongruous with citizen/candidate Trump’s positions.

    • Ivan Freely

I honestly don’t believe Trump is in control. We’re dealing with various factions inside government fighting against each other. To make matters worse, some of them don’t even bother to listen to the POTUS. They’ll do whatever they want and will have an excuse ready when someone calls them out. It’s usually the “national security” / “on a need to know” excuse that silences most people.

    • Joe Dirt

      Traitor!!!!

      • Peter

@joe dirt; Please defend your comment. If Bluecross is an American, then it is his right/nay duty to criticize his government’s wrongful actions as he sees them, that right being included under the country’s very constitution itself.
The ‘traitor’ comment rings hollow as your nation’s birth was built around what Great Britain deemed treasonous actions taken against her. But that birth was within a whisper of never having been realized, were it not for the support given it by the self-interested, 3rd party French, yet another country showing little regard for the sovereignty of others, as it’s colonialist past amply attests.

  • Joe

Fact is poor Syria should accept reality. US and their coalition are bent on overthrowing Assad and CW attacks were just an excuse however stupid, childish and ridiculous they were.

However given the current make up of Assad’s allies, there is not a chance US of whatever combination can defeat . But sad thing is many will die …and a lot of years more.

Russia should arm Syria with Anti ships missiles just like Hezbollah able to hit an Israeli ship.

Any attack on Syria , Syria should have the right to hit back .

US Air force cannot do anything as long as Russian air cover or Syrian air defence are still intact.
Sea based air force is no match for land based forces.

    • Brad Isherwood

Putin in Syria is several geostrategic tracks playing out.
It’s not the same dialog or response as say NATO threatening Russia’s Military.

The US went with Precision strike/Shock and awe. ..
This is what NATO believes will save their @ss if war with Russia were to occur.

Russia has powerfull Area denial Jamming systems…
They would burn into Israel,Turkey…out to Cyprus.
Airliner NAV/GPS would get blue screen if Russian ( Theatre) Jamming was on.

Iran has been testing/deploy it’s Area denial Jamming systems
This I believe is deflecting some* of the US Cruise missiles.
Russian provide smaller area denial Jamming ( Monster Denial system turned off).
Syria’s Point defence of older generation Russian airdefence nets good % return .

Recent strike revealed Failed system Tomahawk and possibly JASSM-ER
British /France stand off weapons rumored to have system failures .
This is NATO not even facing Russia’s best Area denial Jamming. ..or best Airdefence systems.

US/NATO have problems. ..Precision strike is ineffective
Same systems vs Same defence tier set up may net higher % return via Swarm attack in large numeric to overwhelm the defence.
There is not a lot in place in Syria to prevail vs the Mass Swarm attack.
Unless Russia turned it’s Monster Area denial Jamming system on.

US/NATO media push the near perfect Successful strike with Syria/Russia incapable of stop.
That however will not suffice as US/NATO are now nervous …seeing that they were defeated by minimal area Jamming and old Gen airdefence.
They face no retaliation up to now.
Same for Israel who gets to attack with maybe just a verbal wrist slap from Russia.

It would be a dramaticly different conflict were the Zenith weapons systems/Area Jamming turned on and used.
A US/Israel attack = loose ships and Airbases.

  • John

It looks like a lot of firepower but, the reality is that the deployment is too few in number and too close to Russia to survive a concerted effort against the CSG. A couple of Russian frigates, with or without a small amount of Russian air support could tear it up royally. The Russian frigates could be gone but, so would most or all of the deployment. I am guessing but, tend to think 4 or 5 CSGs would really be needed to provide a decent strength. Even that would look like the girl’s field hockey team worked them over after the dust settled. Everybody in the know understands this, except it seems the White House and Congress.

    • jerry hamilton

      You seem to be forgetting.
America is a country full of Superman and Wonder Woman.

      • John

        lol ……… Exactly Jerry.

      • Terra Cotta Woolpuller

        You mean Uber Mensch!!

        • jerry hamilton

No, not humans. DC comic characters that have unearthly super powers.

          • Terra Cotta Woolpuller

You do know Superman is dead he was killed by Solomon Grundy!

          • jerry hamilton

lol. No. I never got the memo.

          • Roger Snellman

            Solomon Grundy,
            Born on a Monday,
            Christened on Tuesday,
            Married on Wednesday,
            Took ill on Thursday,
            Worse on Friday,
            Died on Saturday,
            Buried on Sunday.
            This is the end
            Of Solomon Grundy.

The real Superman was killed by the Mafia for doinking the President of MGM’s trophy wife, Toni Mannix.

      • Redadmiral

Just Wonder how Super Americans are these days??? Not quite as Exceptional as they were before the 14methinks….. Lol

        • jerry hamilton

          Not sure what you mean.
If you are referring to Viktorija Sokolova, I need to read further before commenting about it.

        • jerry hamilton

Oh. if you mean the 105 missile attack, I don’t know.
          I am not American.
I do however live in one of it’s puppet countries but don’t watch television or read newspapers.
From what I read on the internet, Britain is filled with brain dead sheep.
Quite frankly I am so ashamed, I want to live elsewhere.

    • Mortal

I wanna believe that this is another PR move, maybe a switch guard of the carrier that is almost always near the gulf, I think Theodore Roosevelt. It’s true, just one carrier is not enough to overwhelm with “shock and awe” made in America tactics. As the S300 move in Syria though it looks like the tensions aren’t easing up at all.

      • jerry hamilton

They are playing a very dangerous game though.
Russia is very capable of taking out every ship in the region.
America know that because they have been monitoring Russia and China all along.
        They recently admitted it.
There appears no logic to what they are doing.

        • George King

It will start with a false flag Israel sinking a US or NATO ship. Once reported Russia will have no choice but to immediately Finnish the sinking of all ships with aircraft still on board. Just saying, …..help us all.

          • jerry hamilton

I do agree with you that Occupied Palestine will start it.
They will not allow America to back down, not that I think they would anyway..

          • Bob

Israel has track record of attacking US Navy as false flag trigger – USS Liberty in 1967. It wasn’t a ‘mistake’ as Israel later claimed, when caught out, the original plan was to blame-shift events onto Egypt with intent to trigger US attack, possibly nuclear, on Cairo.

          • jerry hamilton

“It is widely believed this was no ‘mistake’ ”
The video I watched had Israeli radio traffic. It is 100% certain it was deliberate.

        • Promitheas Apollonious

because all of you here think that the figure heads for the cameras are the ones who call the shoots. If you think that are just what I am saying figure heads and errand boys and girls, then it make perfect sense. They are ordered to do what they are doing and they have absolutely no choice but obey their masters.

And a personal message to you Jerry. I think you mistook a post I make as personal and it was not I was talking to you not about you.

          • jerry hamilton

Yes. That’s how I see it too.

      • John

Hello Mortal. Desperate/Stupid people will try anything, especially politicians of all stripes. No US Commander is eager to engage the Russians in a no holes barred get down, only a stones throw away from Russia. The eastern Mediterranean is nolonger a NATO playground. It would be at a cost but, every piece of equipment, all the bases, all of the allies are vulnerable now. So I tend to agree with you. It’s a big ole dog and pony show, not a force that could survive and let alone prevail. A good weekend to you.

    • Peter Ravenscroft

      G’day, John,

Very good comment, thanks, on behalf of most humans.

Any ship is sinkable, Russia is not. Two reactors on the Med seabed from the USS Truman, unrecoverable and/or one from the submarine USS Watson? Wake up, Europe, you seem to have a death wish.

      PSR, Oz.

      • John

Hello Peter. I wish well to you and have a good weekend. :)

  • Ziad Adda

russian must go home. they can’t protect syria. all what they did is just propaganda. the s 300 – 400 are never used to proove that they can stop occidental agression.

    • jerry hamilton

Don’t worry. America is like a dog barking on a lead.
If the lead snaps, the dog will run very fast away from the Bear.

  • Manuel Flores Escobar

All these deployement is to discredit Russia during Victory day Parade and also world football cup as surely USA will attack Syria or Syrian troops with any excuse….Terrorist have lost the war…Assad have won…so the godparents are nervous!

  • bonami

And the next fake CW attack will take place in 3….2…..1..

    • Drogba

      Lights,chemicals,Action.

    • Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The Russians had reliable information it is going to be in Tabliseh in Qalamoun and why they are dealing with that pocket right now and Qadam never know they might say ISIS are there assets.

      • bonami

        Thank you. Why there?

  • Drogba

That is a sitting Duck for the unstoppable Russian missiles. The zionists are very adept at sending the Goyim to fight and die in their manufactured wars.Hopefully Syria and it’s allies will make the israhellI regime suffer the consequences of its warmongering.

  • jerry hamilton

Came across this. How much credibility do you give it?
    http://www.domigood.com/2018/04/russia-we-told-us-where-in-syria-it.html

    • Ivan Freely

Plausible. But, we’ll never know the whole story. It’s understandable the Russians were willing to wheel and deal as they don’t want to further escalate the situation. Communication via back channels.

  • Joe Dirt

Hey Asssssssad and Pootin here comes the pain!!!!!

  • pjt

Not happy that this additional attack escalation by my Country. Hope reasonable agreements can be made & carried out.

  • Roger Snellman

Wonder where the next strike is headed. Might be nice to send 49 missiles to one of Assad’s residences. The presidential palace would be a good example. Probably smarter to start taking out every Syrian air force base before instituting the no fly zone. That will force Assad to use chemical weapon shells or missiles.
Hopefully Russia will get the hint otherwise the rebels/militants/terrorists/freedom fighters what ever they are will start taking out Russian aircraft with US technology. When those Syrian militants get their hands on a downed Russian pilot… well we have all seen the video from last time.
