Early on October 24, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Russian Aerospace Forces launched a large-scale attack on terrorists’ positions in northern Lattakia.
Warplanes and attack helicopters of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) and the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out dozens of airstrikes on terrorists’ positions in northern Lattakia, especially inside and around the key town of Kabani.
Terrorists’ positions in the region were also shelled by the SAA artillery and heavy rocket launchers. The results of the shelling are yet to be revealed
Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other terrorist groups control the opposition-held part of northern Lattakia. A news network of the terrorist group claimed that the SAA has launched a ground assault in the region. However, pro-government activists denied this.
The situation in northern Lattakia is slowly heading towards a large-scale military confrontation. The SAA could launch a ground operation to clear the region from HTS and its allies in the near future.
