On November 7, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that its fighters captured al-Qushayriyah village on the eastern bank of the Khabur river in the southern al-Hasakah countryside. The SDF added that it fighters killed seven fighters of ISIS, and destroyed a vehicle armed with a 12.7mm gun during their advance.
Kurdish sources claimed that the SDF captured all the villages north of Markada town on the western bank of Khabur by November 8. However, the SDF is yet to confirm these claims.
In the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, the SDF announced that its fighters captured al-Khan village 32km southeast of Deir Ezzor city on November 8. Five fighters of ISIS were killed by the SDF fighters during the clashes in the village according to the SDF.
The SDF advances in the southern al-Hasakah countryside and the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside show that US-backed forces are now seecing to consolidate their recent gains on the eastern bank of Euphrates. The goal is to get a stronger position after the Syrian Army and its allies liberated al-Bukamal city.
