On October 15, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that its fighters captured al-Barid district in the center of Raqqa city. The SDF said that its fighters killed 10 members of ISIS, a half of them was foreigners.

After losing the strategic al-Barid district, the defense of remaining ISIS fighters inside Raqqa will likely collapse in the coming days.
Meanwhile in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside, SDF fighters reportedly repelled an ISIS attack on their positions in al-Sa’ad village south of al-Suwar town. According to pro-Kurdish sources, the SDF killed 7 fighters and destroyed a vehicle of ISIS while it was repelling the attack.

Lately, ISIS shifted some forces to counter the advance of the SDF in the southern al- Hasakah countryside and the northern Deir Ezzor countryside. However, after capturing Raqqa city, the SDF will be able to redeploy hundreds of fighters to boost its operations in al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor governorates.
