Syrian Army Retreats From Shulah Village On Deir Ezzor-Palmyra Highway (Map)

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies reportedly retreated from the key village of Shulah on the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway amid an intense fighting with ISIS terrorists.

Earlier today, ISIS launched an attack against government troops in Shulah and pushed the military to close the highway. ISIS also claimed that it captured 2 “Russian soldiers” in the advance.

Following the SAA retreat, multiple airstrikes were reported  in the Shulah area and government forces started re-groupping for a counter-attack.

Again shows SAA High COmmand poor military planning and tactic

    • Barba_Papa

Again you show poor comprehension as to what planning and tactics actually are.

    • PZIVJ

Again you choose to post bull shit on this sight.
Do you expect to have solid front lines in the fricking desert? Stupido

      • Claudio

It is not a good time, the war will be very long if ISIS has powerful friends (USA-Israel)

      • FlorianGeyer

John Doe is a US apologist and a Zio Troll so please have a little sympathy for him PX1VJ. John Doe’s planning abilities are limited to taking a taxi to the Bagel store.

        • Joe Doe

Never lite it idiots like you, who sweep the problems under the carpet and portrait that everything is OK. Put simply losers!

          • FlorianGeyer

Your opinions matter little here as you see every day John Doe , so all I can be bothered to say to you is ‘Whatever ‘.

  • goingbrokes

As in many previous occasions this attack clearly based on superior intelligence which, in theory, daesh don’t have access to. Weak points identified from satellite surveillance etc. the daesh boys are not miracle fighters, Israel aids them!

    • You can call me Al

or is it reverse phycology ?…. take a small group at a time the next morning ?

      • goingbrokes

From SAA side, this may well be the case.

  • Shylo Duffy

You would think the international world would have more to say about the crimes being done in Syria.Everytime I see pics of the Syrians trying to get their life’s back with huge smiles on their faces and then I think of the US and thugs trying everything throwing everything they got at em to take away away what little peace they’ve found it breaks my heart..May the good Lord allmighty have mercy and bless the people of our world who suffer at the hands of these monsters.

  • Wahid Algiers

Exactly – lure them by retreatment to come out of their holes and then purge them out by air strikes.

  • qveenz

Hope the SAA take the chance to puh the southern flank of the ISIS attack.

  • DJ Double D

Cool Down Guys, this is a tactic of the SAA to lure them out and crush as many of their tanks, amos and other equipment and that will in turn aid in the final push towards Al-Bukamal.

    • Gabriel Hollows

Exactly, this is how they wiped out Jaish-Al-Fatah back then on Aleppo. Draw them out of their fortifications, then crush them with superior artillery, air support and training.

    • MH370

      i hope you are right

      • DJ Double D

They are going deeper than originally anticipated. But the deeper they go, the better.

  • dutchnational

Commenters here are debating about the tactics involved here.

If SAA is forced to retreat out of a key city resulting in a cutting of a key supply route, then this is not about tactics but a plain retreat, however temporary.

It shows SAA is not as much in control as was thought and will force SAA to deploy more forces to guard its flanks and supply routes.

It must be hoped that the route is cleared as soon as possible. I am not a fan of the SAA, but IS is worse.

    • RichardD

Justin has exposed your duplicity you lying ziotroll.

      • dutchnational

You and trollyboy Justin still having anal problems?

        Still have no arguments?

        You poor man.

        • RichardD

Are you a Jew pedophile rape cult member, or just a supporter and collaborator of this evil cult?

          • dutchnational

            Proven my point again trollyboy.

          • RichardD

            You’ve proven nothing without evidence.

    • Serious Dude

This is the problem for socialists/communists (Ba’athism is a socialist offshoot). At first, they are enthusiastic and want to defeat all, then they fail and then they blame everyone else for their mistakes (capitalism, US, Israel, etc…)

      • RichardD

“then they fail and then they blame everyone else for their mistakes (capitalism, US, Israel, etc…)”

        Their mistakes?

The entire war is a Jew world order fabrication that wouldn’t have happened without intel and mercenary units invading Syria and attacking the government in an externally supported regime change operation.

        • Serious Dude

          Blah, blah, blah…

          • RichardD

Like I said earlier, you can’t engage in rational debate so you post nonsense and idiocy instead.

          • Serious Dude

You are the one that believes in Jewish world orders and I am the irrational? Hypocrisy or maybe you are reading David Icke and Henry Makow too much?

          • RichardD

Even the lying Jew media msm can’t hide it:

            List of prominent Jewish Neocons
            hugequestions.com/Eric/TFC/FromOthers/list-of-neocons-for-Iraq-war.htm

“The movement had its intellectual roots in the Jewish monthly review magazine Commentary, published by the American Jewish Committee.”

I deal in reality, you deal in stupidity.

          • Serious Dude

It is a just a lobby.

          • RichardD

That’s responsible for a lot of crime and evil.

          • Serious Dude

I am not neocon. Not to mention that pedophilia is widespread in states ruled by sharia law.

          • RichardD

Do you approve of Jew pedophile prostitutes statutory raping 1,000 cult children a week in Israel, the US and elsewhere and having exemptions to avoid prosecution to get away with their crimes unprosecuted?

          • Serious Dude

Nope but I approve that you need psychiatric help.

          • RichardD

You’re lies, insults and false accusations unsupported by proof just show that you’re an idiot and coward afraid to engage in rational debate because you know that you’l lose.

          • Serious Dude

I may lose a debate by a nuthead but hundreds of thousands of Syrians are not winning because of evil people like the ones you support.

          • RichardD

You’re the one supporting the evil Jew pedophile rape cultists who are responsible for the war not me. I’m supporting the people that are stopping it.

          • Serious Dude

Who are going to stop pedophilia? David Icke, Henry Makow or Saddam Hussein?

          • RichardD

What do you care, you support their Syria war that has killed a half a million people and injured many more.

          • Serious Dude

            I haven’t supported any war.

          • RichardD

            What do you call this:

“Syrians are not winning because of evil people like the ones you support.”

          • Serious Dude

That you support evil people that create wars.

          • RichardD

More lies and false accusations, the Jews that you support created the war, not the Syrians that I support. Who are the victims not the perpetrators.

          • Serious Dude

The war was created by the Sunni-Shia Proxy conflict of Iran-Saudi. Israel is neutral.

          • RichardD

            You’re a big liar.

          • dutchnational

His record player is stuck on repeat. You will not be able to get one civil, let alone intelligent, word out of trolly Richard.

          • RichardD

You’re the lying truth hater and pedophile rape cult supporter not me.

          • dutchnational

Not to mention honor killings, gender inequality, undereducation, oppression of minorites etc.

          • RichardD

They don’t rape their children and have 100 UN resolutions against them, the Jews do.

Even Erdogan has used and paid the jewish lobby in the States

          • Marc Fischer

Save your breath buddy…he’s just a Zionazi Shill. It’s obvious by his negative, demeaning Zionist rationale. It’s STUPID and highly MORONIC to deny the Zionist shadow forces behind the current agendas in the ME

          • RichardD

Yes, I think that you’re correct. And rather than let them shill on unopposed. I sometimes try to point out the disinfo that they’re peddling in an effort to counteract it.

Idiot and nazi and murderer, why do u not go to pages of Jerusalem post?

    • RichardD

You’ve been running this type of anti Syria pro terrorist duplicity for months:

“Strategically HTS and allies should attack direction of Hama, Aleppo city and the highway north towards Aleppo city to isolate the whole of Aleppo city and all of SAA in the north and north east, for as long as they can hold that road. If they can hold it for say two weeks, then SAA will start collapsing there because of no resupply. IS will be glad to help by attacking the same road and all SAA forces in southern Raqqah.”

      https://southfront.org/syrian-army-repelled-hts-attack-northern-hama-countryside/

    • Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The only ones beating a hasty retreat right now is your beloved SDF as they lose more to these band of ISIS and not Shammar fakes pretending to be ISIS.

The SAA have currently kept their pushes quiet and still increase security in the region of Deir Ezzour and still are able to maintain this style of fighting, as ISIS needs to be drawn in and committed so the real pushes can advance.

The route will be cleared along with massive gains and heavy equipment and manpower losses for ISIS.

  • John

Once again, 24 hours and this is done, except for the final screaming. T2 is about to go, it is a sound tactical move by IS for today and means nothing by Saturday night, except less guns available for IS elsewhere. IS is kicking the SDF in the teeth farther north and the SDF situation is much worse than the SAA now, in terms of the ramifications of the IS moves. A good day to all.

    • FlorianGeyer

My own ‘guess’ is that the US subverted an criminal Arab opportunist ISIS component in Deir Ezzor to change sides with US $ and the more fundamental ISIS zealots are not happy about that.

      • John

Hello Florian. The fun and games never stop over there. Almost anything is possible.

        • FlorianGeyer

With the myriad of global and local puppeteers pulling the strings in different and often disjointed ways, the result is a disaster for typical Syrians of monstrous proportions.

Sadly many or indeed most major conflagrations throughout time have been such as this.

  • Attrition47

By coincidence last night, I was looking at that road and the relatively shallow depth of the Syrian occupation of the southern hinterland.

  • r0b1n

One step back, 3 steps forward.

    • dutchnational

Yes, SAA takes one step back and the SDF has taken three forward.

There is something to be said for these worn out expressions.

      • Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Heard even the SDF retreated from al suwar and took 3 steps back and are still losing ground in Raqqa despite their reports of everything rosy as they say.

What happened is ISIS was 5km into the region and now are being ripped a part piecemeal , this is how the real fighters draw in attacks to encircle them and destroy them all the while pushing on other flanks.

      • Marc Fischer

You don’t seem to understand that in any war there will always be reverses buddy, especially in the case of the SAA, which is stretched out over huge expanses of new reacquired Syrian territory.. It’s a normal and expected thing. Just as the Ardennes offensive(Battle of the Bulge) in WW2 seemed to be a reverse for the allies, it actually shortened the war and brought it to a fast conclusion. Hitler shot his wad, but then had little strength left for defense of Germany proper..

  • RichardD

The Jew world order terrorists engaged in a suicide mission across the open desert and will die and be defeated with their equipment destroyed or captured. The Syrian government coalition is expecting these types of attacks and will deal with them as they occur. It hasn’t stopped and isn’t going to stop the government from expanding the areas that it controls.

  • Turbofan

When that area is retaken. It will be littered with death ISIS bodies like in the aftermath of the retaking of Palmyra

  • Leon De Elias

I smell yankee terrorist spec ops and cia/mossad behind this..How come they did not attack the Yanks on the other side of the Euphrates river..? Yeah the answer is there..

  • Terence Silvestre Jr.

The same mistake of underestimating the enemy again and again being committed.
Where ISIS suddenly led so many men into an attack without being seen and reported from the beginning?
Why such a strategic place was not sheltered enough given its crucial value?

    • Terra Cotta Woolpuller

You under estimate the SAA and Russia as this is a twofold plan to draw their armor into the open and decimate it piecemeal, weaken their fronts. They will end up losing all that ground as they expend it on being drawn in to battles they can’t escape from, this is how they fight. This type of tactic is like a boxer dropping their guard to draw in an opponent and lull them into the false sense of security.

The thinking it’s a high strategic value is what they have lulled ISIS into believing as DE has 3 other routes that are secured. Think carefully and you will see their game as this will make huge gains once it’s achieved.

      • Terence Silvestre Jr.

I hope you are right and in the end, the time may gives all the reason to your reasoning my dear friend.
Meanwhile the situation does not look good for our Syrian friends and all their allies. They will need more Russian aircrafts involved with tens of thousands of troops from Iran and Hezbollah to attend all fronts and stabilize that military maneuver with American signature and instigation to divert attention and facilitate the advanced Kurdish in the rich areas of Syrian energy resources.

  • Rafik Chauhan

logistic support given to daes by us/Israel thugs so SAA/RUSSIA ALLIES DIVERT THIER MIND . NOW IS THE TIME SAA AND RUSSIA KILL THEM AND MOVE TO BORDER WITH IRAQ FROM SUKHNA AND FROM DIER ZOR CITY BCUZ THE RATS ARE OUT FROM THE HOLE . BECOME EASY TARGET.
