Yesterday, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and groups from the US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) announced the establishment of the “Jaysh Muhammad” operations room and launched a military operation with a goal to capture Al-Baath city and to reach Damascus.

After hours of fighting, the Jaysh Muhammad operations room claimed that it seized 60% of Al-Baath in Quneitra province. The Syrian Army denied the claims of Jaysh Muhammad revealing that militants had seized the Fire Brigade, Al-Mashtal and Al-Manshara.

The clashes continued and later Syrian Army sources confirmed that it managed to recover all these points and killed one of the commanders of Jaysh Muhammad and 20 other fighters. Government forces also destroyed a tank and 3 vehicles armed with 23mm guns with ATGMs.

According to the Hezbollah media wing, Jaysh Muhammad’s shelling of Al-Baath wounded 25 civilians.

Syrian Army sources confirmed that the Israeli airstrikes on Saturday and Sunday were aimed at supporting the attack of Jaysh Muhammad after their failure to achieve significant gains in the city.

It’s worth mentioning that Jaish Mohammad claimed that they were behind the assignation of the National Defense Forces in Quneitra, Majd Haymoud, who was killed few weeks ago .
