Syrian Army Liberates al-Shula Village In Final Push Towards Deir Ezzor City - Reports

On Sunday, government forces, led by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) Tiger Forces, captured the strategic Bir Ghabaghib and al-Shula villages on the al-Sukhnah-Deir Ezzor highway and deployed less than 15km away from Deir Ezzor city, according to pro-government sources.

Al-Shula was one of the last ISIS positions on the al-Sukhnah-Deir Ezzor highway.

If the liberation of al-Shula is confirmed, few remaining ISIS positions in the desert that can be easily overrun by the SAA.

The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq claimed that ISIS fighters destroyed a tank and a BMP-1 vehicle of the SAA with an ATGM near Haribshah village in the western Deir Ezzor countryside.

Moreover, Amaq claimed that ISIS fighters destroyed 2 BMP-1 vehicles and 2 guns of the SAA with rockets near Haribshah village.

Local sources from Ma’adan town in the northwestern Deir Ezzor countryside claimed that ISIS deployed units from “Jaish al-Khilfah”, “Assud al- Khilfah” and “Ashbal al- Khilfah” to the town.

ISIS might be planning to launch a counterattack on the SAA positions near the strategic Bishri mount northwest of Deir Ezzor.

If everything goes as planned for the SAA, the SAA might break ISIS siege on Deir Ezzor city within few days.

ISIS uses an ATGM against a SAA BMP:

Awesome, I hope they dont lose the initiative when they reach Deir Ezzor, looks like a force might be swinging north towards Al Tibni and cut of that IS force in Maadan thats trying to encircle them.

    • Alex Mayers

If they reach Deir Ez Zor in time (even if ISIS manages to cut them off) the city will gain valuable forces which will clean the city center and strengthen their positions in general, Leading to a victorious 2nd puss by the SAA forces :)

      • Kell

They are entering Div 137 as we speak

      • gustavo

What are you talking about ? SAA is already there !!

    • gustavo

Not way, those ISIS forces are right now been destroyed by Russia aerospace force. Forget about hsi point. Russia is given a very strong air support to Syria-Hezbolah-Iran-Russia ground forces.

  • PZIVJ

    GREAT JOB SAA!
Al Shulah fell rather fast. ISIS trash must be in pretty bad shape in this area.
Nonstop air strikes have probably turned their vehicles into burning wrecks.
This makes me so happy! :)))

    • Ono&Dsz

Yes.. but SAA must be very careful because of Ma’adan flank.. there are infos about rats reinforcements arrived today in Ma’adan… They will try counter offensive from that direction for sure…

      • PZIVJ

Air and satellite recon are probably on high alert for ISIS movements out of the Maadan area. Hopefully the weather remains good (no sandstorms). Air assets will be kept on station no doubt.
        GO TIGERS :)

        • Jesus

Tyas and Jireh airfields are in close proximity to Madaan, Suk 25 are ready to pounce on any significant ISIS gatherings.

      • Kell

Yes I would be tempted to send the main force north up towards Al-Tibni, they will want to celebrate and do the hand shake ceremony with the other top General in Deir Ezzor but not for to long I hope, the other option mat be tigers stay an assist taking the city but with other forces in the Hama pocket cleaning hopefully not far away I would be making use of the Tigers manouver ability to cut off Maadan in the North and isolate the large force there.

      • gustavo

Russia aerospace forces have the responsibility of eliminate these terrorists. Russia can see an ear everything in Syra, and for sure, they can see any grouping of terrorists. For Russia aerospace forces there is not excuse.

      • gustavo

Nop, this part has been right now in total Syria control, and ISIS is on the run.

    • Thegr8rambino

me too!!! i wish we could all throw a big party!!

  • WinstonSmith

Excellent way to start September, and the only way the ISIS rats concentrated around Maadan could make it to DeZ would be with US airlifts. The US terrorists have to resort to bombing bus convoys of surrendered rats to appear to be doing something besides killing civilians in Raqqa.

    • Jesus

ISIS force around Madaan will be entrapped and cut off.

      • gustavo

This is for sure with the help of Russia aerospace forces.

  • Lupus

Tigers ve reached DeZ comrades already!

    • Ono&Dsz

If it is true, it was quick !!

      • Ono&Dsz

        let the celebrations begin!!

        • gustavo

Not yet, the war is not over !!

    • Tudor Miron

Lupus, I heard great news from you lately and it was reliable. Are you sure this time? :) I’m asking because it seems easier than anticipated… Anyway, even if that rat bites another couple of times – it’s still nothing more than agony.

      • Lupus

        its true u can celebrate!

        • Tudor Miron

Great news, Brother! Great news! Ура!!! (If you know what I mean :)

I have 2 questions: where did these armies withdraw from—to check accuracy, and is al-Baghdadi attempting to concentrate his forces?
    Wish I had a map.

    • Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They were being hit from 3 places and not good when your 3 flanks are under attack, they pushed along the road from as Sukhna all the way to Al Shoulah along the M20 and pushed North and west from the Bishri Triangle west of M20 which runs all the way to DE. They used classic pincer movements all the way.

SAA and allies already have broken the Deir Ezzor city Seige and now Tiger forces are in the Deir Ezzor city.

  • Semper Prudens
  • dutchnational

SDF supporting site claims SAA reached DeZ base, not yet the civillian part. If correct, the siege is at least partially broken.

    Now for the civillians.

The big question will be whether IS tries to keep its hold on the region or will withdraw to fight elsewhere.

    • gustavo

Do not put attention to any SDF news because they are right now the new USA-puppets.

  • RichardD

There’s a river along the main Palmyra DE highway. Which even if it’s dry, can be tough going for a mechanized force. North of the highway where the main advance has come to within 10 miles of DE. It’s flat desert with no built up area until you get right to the city limits. The invaders aren’t going to be able to stop a mechanized force of any substance for long with air and ground support on that terrain.

I’m sure that there are commando units in the city now locating and neutralizing anti armor weapons so that they can get heavy weapons into the city to support clear and hold operations. It’s nightfall in DE now. Motorized and mechanized units may be entering the city now under the cover of darkness. Motorized units in particular. Bikes and 4x4s.

    • FlorianGeyer

Thardah Mountain also must be cleared of ISIS. The SAA airport would then be able to receive flights again and resume combat flights as well.

      • RichardD

Is that a built up area with civilians, or can it be hammered without collateral damage?

        • FlorianGeyer

Thardah Mountain is a purely military outpost on a High Point. There are no civilian villages there. Its the mountain that the US Coalition bombed ‘by accident last year and ISIS just happened to be ready to assault and take the fortified base at the top. It overlooks the SAA airfield of Deir Ezzor.

“A recent photograph circulated on Russian military forums shows what the tank looked like after impact. Sure enough, the T-90’s Kontakt-5 reactive armor appeared to save it. Reactive armor explodes outwards and stops incoming missiles from penetrating into the tank and killing the crew.
The Research Institute of Steel, a Russian company which makes reactive armor plates for the T-90, was pleased. The crew lived, according to Russian press reports, and the only visible damage was on one of the T-90’s two Shtora transmitters” http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/russias-deadly-t-90-tank-vs-americas-tow-missile-who-wins-15611 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8Mg2No3haE

Celebretion ? Not yet, let us wait until war is over. There is still a long way to go. First, finish with ISIS-Daesh-Nustra and moderated terrorists. Second, how are the new USA puppets (kurds) going to move ? Third, how to get rid of Turkies ? Those are also difficult thing to deal with.

      • Hmph

Don’t worry, it’s going to become easier and easier. No one can stand in the way of the SAA and its allies.

      • Ice Icegold

        You are absolutely right.
I was talking about the celebration inside the city of Deir Ezzor.

  • Rodney Loder

Deir Ezzor civilians are out on he streets celebrating the approach of the Tiger Forces, the revolution failed, I told my Brother’s it would since the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), – which was really a Ba’athist Organisation the same as the old Pan Arab affiliations under the Ba’athists when Syria was joined with Egypt, – was a Divine inspiration manifested by Allah as a ruse to trap worthless jew lovers.
That’s why Brother Baghdadi was able to break in 2014 with Ayman al-Zawahiri’s al-Qa’ed, and don’t forget his younger brother Mohammad al-Zawahiri the Brotherhood Chief is and was best mates with Morsi, Brother Baghdadi broke clean from the both of the idiots, that enabled al-Sisi to eliminate the Brotherhood in Egypt (3 rd. July 2013:Morsi was ousted), because Allah revealed to al-Sisi that al-Qaeda was soon to be a spent force, so that gave al-Assad a massive boost at a critical time, and we owe it all to IS, so spare a thought for the pregnant women and children beseiged by US Air dying in buses stranded after gaining agreement to leave Lebanon, US is the enemy of Allah , IS is the Blessed Slaves.

    • gustavo

Let me clarify something…..USA-NATO-Israel created ISIS-Daesh-Nustra and moderated terrorists with the help of Qatar, Saudis, Jordan, and Turkey (NATO member). Of course, there are other countries involved (Serbia, Arab Emiratos).

      • Rodney Loder

They did, all those State that you mention except Serbia.
They were thinking that Daesh because it came out of Saudi Arabia and hit the streets close to Damascus rising to prominence quickly was going to become another Moderate brand name loosely affiliated with al-Qa’ed, this was late 2013.
There were many demonstrations at the time asking Obama to take The al-Nurash Front off the US Terrorists Classification List, but Obama said no, however since Daesh was very close to the al-Nurash Front efforts were made to rollover al-Nurash into the Daesh Brand name, that’s why IS members don’t like being called Daesh now.
Recruitment was a big reason for the split with al-Nurash, but so was Mullar Omar who was thought to be still alive at the time, and so was the Saddam’s Intelligence Network who had infiltrated Daesh Organisation from the US confinement in Iraq, that is the main US connection, they were treated really well and trained and paid by the CIA.
Brother Baghdadi betrayed his handlers and thats how got the support to take on Zawahiri and won. After that transpired, then late 2014 only Turkey supported the Caliphate, Israel was buying oil off them but mainly Mossad always supported al-Nurash. Three things happened that made Turkey change 1. NATO didn’t start the expected bombing campaign, 2. Russia entered the war October 2015 because IS was chopping Western heads and Obama was powerless to complain about Russia coming in, this upset Turkey enormously so they shot down a Russian SU-24 and murdered the pilot thinking NATO would react, they didn’t and Turkey looked bad, and that was November 2015, 3. Because Turkey looked bad the CIA used their operatives aligned with Gulen to oust Erdogan, July 15 2016 attempted coup d’etat, my informants in Heaven were delighted, but Allah changed Him Mind and Erdogan was a changed man after that.
That’s when Turkey betrayed IS and then the only help IS got was of a pragmatic nature from the US and Salman to do with tactics on the battlefield.

  • Lumen

Lots a russians in syria right now ….

    • gustavo

Thanks to russians-iranis -hezbolah and tiger forces the war is very likely to be won by Syria government.

  • gustavo

Russia aerospace forces must increases their support a lot (300%) to Syria-Iran-hezbolha-Russia ground forces immediately without any wasting time. Russuia night vision helicopters must flight all over the dessert to find and kill these terrorrists. There is justification of a ISIS conter-attack since Russia can see and ear everything on Syria land.

  • John Brown

Again on the schedule I predicted. By mid September the SAA will clear ISIS out of Deir Azur province including north of the Euphrates, with perhaps some small surrounded hold outs in Madan, Al Buchmal and Deir Azur city.

  • Thegr8rambino

YAAYYY!!! VICTORY!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!! FOR ALL THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN OF SAA AND ALLIES!!! I WISH WE COULD ALL THROW A BIG PARTY!! :)))

If this happens today, it will totally make my day. As did the recapture of Aleppo.

    One word here…

    DEIR EZZOR SIEGE BROKEN! FANTASTIC!

  • gustavo

SAA is already in Deir Ezzor city, and the siege will be over very soon. I hope Syria people make a short celebration because the war is not over. i think, it is possible to go immediately toward Al-Tibal and As-Sabkhish along the Euphrates river to make a another ISIS pocket. At the same time, SAA must cross Euphrates river in Deir Ezzor and go east up to Iraq border to stop kurds (new USA puppets) o going north Syria. This is possible to do next week if Russia aerospace forces help with planning and STRONG air support. Just do it. Meanwhile, and at the same time, Syria forces of the north can reach Euphrates river at al-Bukamat and to start moving north along Euphrates river. That will be the end of ISIS-Daesh-Nustra-moderated terrorirsts since all other small pockets will fall very fast. The next problem is….how to get rid of USA-puppets (kurds) and Turkey, that is another big problem to come, but probably, Russia diplomatic can make the difference here.
