On June 17, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a second phase of its military operation against ISIS cells in the eastern al-Suwayda countryside, according to the pro-government blog al-Masdar News. Currently, units of Hezbollah, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) are supporting the SAA operation there.

Al-Msdar News said that warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) conducted a series of airstrikes on several positions of ISIS in the villages of al-Kara’a, al-Tamthounah, Khirbet al-Ambashi, and al-Habiriyeh. A day earlier, the SyAAF carried out a similar wave of airstrikes.

Meanwhile, the Syrian al-Suwayda 24 blog revealed that ISIS fighters ambushed a vehicle of the SAA in the area of al-Haramiyah in the eastern countryside of al-Suwayda on June 16. According to the independent blog, several soldiers of the SAA were killed and injured as a result of the ambush.

The first phase of the SAA military operation in the eastern al-Suwayda countryside began on June 7. Back then, the SAA and its allies captured several key positions within a few days. However, the SAA was forced to end the first phase of the operation after losing more than 30 soldiers and officers.

The second phase of the operation will likely be more successfully as new well-armed units of the SAA are participating in it. Among these units is the 62nd Brigade which joined the operation a day ago.

Finally the SAA is starting to look like a actual army instead of some poor mans PMC groop.

  • Gregory Casey

The 62nd Brigade’s participation bodes ill for IS and their American protectors !!

They’re shifting strategy and bringing a few reinforcements. Looks like they encountered more resistance than they expected.

I recall that Saddam’s forces had a similar tactical problem with Kurdish separatists. They used gas.

    • Ronald

SAA doesn’t use gas, unless you believe the White Helmets propaganda.

      • Smaug

They won’t now because politics, they probably didn’t at Gouta but…

Many crimes have been committed by both sides of this war, I in no way support UN organizations but in this case it is blommin’ obvious what happened. Just because you choose one side does not mean they are incapable of wrongdoing.

Ask yourself why this war began? The anarchy and carnage and the radicalism and general lack of sympathy for others can’t simply be due to the actions of any one party.

        • Ronald

You seem to have missed the Clinton Libya emails, under her the State Dept not only smuggled guns to Al Qaeda, but had the jihadists shoot students and soldiers in order to create a flash point and a “revolution”, in 2011.
If you read “WikiLeaks Files” by J. Assange (2015), and only consider the Freedom of Information government documents, you will see that this war was really started back in 2006. And yes due to the actions of one party, the State Dept of the United States of America, Syria has anarchy and carnage.

          • Smaug

            Troll alert.

          • Ronald

            Truth is hard to face.
Closing your ears will not help you or stop the suffering of the Syrian people or the nightmares of the US Special Forces who had to train the barbarian jihadists.

Stop outing yourself, it’s not necessary, we all know.

How long did it take you to read 251,287 top secret files?

          • Smaug

I recall once when South Front republished something found on wikileaks. To a Russian or Syrian it might have been revealing as to US intentions. But to anyone in a NATO coutry it was a statement of what everyone already knew, but that didn’t stop SF and these twerps from trying to paint it as a Machiavellian scheme.

          • About as long as it took FBI (Federal Bureau of Islamization) to read Hillary’s 33,000 missing emails.

          • Joe Dirt

HA! I haven’t blocked you yet? hmm…anyways you’re just another asshole who plays the victim card!

          • You should. Simpletons like yourself are incapable of rational thought.

        • Sinbad2

They never did use gas, the USA is the biggest proponent of banned weapons.
Nukes in Japan, plague bombs in Korea, chemicals in Vietnam, radioactive shells in Iraq.
If war crimes were an Olympic sport, the US would always win the gold medal.

          • Along with the cyanide gas used to kill unarmed women and children in Waco.

        • gustavo

The war started because of USA-Israel-NATO plans to destroy Syria, that is all.

    • HardHawk

provided by the americans why don’t you mention it also? And also against Iranians during the 8 year wars between them that was when Saddam was the golden boy of the UK/USRAEL.

      • Smaug

I didn’t mention it because I’m not willfully schizophrenic.

        Muting you.

        • Sinbad2

          When were you diagnosed?

    • Sinbad2

How do you think it would have gone if Donald Rumsfeld had not delivered the poison gas to Saddam, in the nick of time?

I support Houthis army of Yemen, and IRGC forces of Iran.
I support Hezbollah army forces of Lebanon, PMU army forces of Iraq.
I support Hamas and all Palestinian army forces.
I support SAA forces of Syria and LNA forces of Libya.

These all heroes united together fighting voluntarily for their lands and sovereignty against child butchers KSA, US, UK, France and their proxies Israel, ISIS, Al-Qaeda.

Thanks for letting us all know you’re a terrorists.

Yemen Explained: Saudi Coalition, Houthis and Famine

Yemen: On the brink of starvation – BBC News

How the Saudi Blockade is Starving Yemen
Oh my God small kids dying due to starvation. They have no food due to blockade …..

    1. The Largest Humanitarian Disaster.
    2. 8 Million People Hungary.
    3. About 11,000 people killed.
    4. About 50,000 people injured.
    5. Entire villages and towns have been demolished and erased from the earth.

Russia, China and Pakistan could help to open blockade on Houthis, stop oppression and aggressions on them and send humanitarian aid in emergency. There is need of reconciliation between different groups. Saudis tell to Yemen nation that accept Hadi as president otherwise you all will die and nobody will know. Shame

How the Saudi Arabian prince lose their money. This will be a shame history.
