The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed its anti-ISIS operations north of the Homs-Palmyra road and managed to capture new strategic positions after launching a successful attack from its positions in Tal Tafha and Manukh.
According to reports, the SAA also continued its advance east of Palmyra and managed to capture the Al-Hal gas field located in only 18 kilometers away from the strategic town of Sukhna.
From its side, ISIS claimed that its fighters attacked SAA positions west of Humaimiya village located between Homs and Deir Ezzor provinces. ISIS allegedly captured an SAA position, killed 9 Syrian soldiers and injured 15 others during the attack.
ISIS also claimed that its members captured a T-72 tank, a BMP-1 vehicle and a technical armed with a 23mm gun, as well as, a Konkurs launcher with several missiles.
Syrian and Russian Air Force warplanes targeted ISIS positions in the vicinity of Humaimiya and east of the Arak gas field in the eastern Homs countryside. The strikes led to the elimination of dozens of ISIS terrorists and the destruction of several armored vehicles.
It’s expected that the SAA will resume its operations in the southern Raqqa countryside soon at the same time with its operations in eastern Hama and its operation in the direction of Sukhna.
