On December 27, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Tiger Forces captured the strategic villages of Umm Haratayn and Tell Tawila, according to pro-government sources.
Syrian pro-opposition sources said that the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Arab Air Force backed the SAA attack and destroyed several positions of HTS and its allies in the villages of Umm Haratayn, Msheirfeh and Hamadaniyeh.
The US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups of the Free Idlib Army, and Jaysh al-Izza revealed that nine of their fighters were killed by the SAA in the clashes in the northern Hama countryside. Moreover, pro-government activists claimed that dozens of HTS fighters were also killed in the clashes.
Pro-government sources said that the ongoing SAA attack in the northern Hama countryside didn’t reach its full strength, as dozens of units of the Tigers Forces didn’t join the attack yet. The upcoming days will likely witness the collapse of HTS and its allies in the northern Hama countryside, as they will likely fail to organize an effective defense lines in the region.
