AlMasdarNews reports: The Syrian Arab Army’s 60th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division has restarted their military operations in the east Palmyra (Tadmur) countryside after spending the last three weeks on the defensive against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).
An Al-Masdar field correspondent spoke to a soldier in east Palmyra on Wednesday and received uplifting information from the Talilah Crossroad for the first time in several weeks.
According to the Al-Masdar field correspondent, the Syrian Arab Army’s 60th Brigade, backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), has recaptured the Talilah checkpoints after a violent battle with the Islamic State on Wednesday.
Furthermore, the Islamic State’s large-scale offensive around the ancient city of Palmyra has been officially repelled by the Syrian Armed Forces, leaving this area once again secured.
The Russian Air Force has also been spotted above the skies of Palmyra for the first time in several weeks.
The Russian Air Force carried out several airstrikes above the oil rich village of ‘Arak and the T-3 Military Airport, killing a large number of Islamic State terrorists in the process.
