Donate

UPDATE 2: According to the Syrian mediat, 3 soldiers were wounded in the Israeli air raid late on Decmber 35. The Israeli Air Force reprotedly fired at least 22 missiles. The strike was aimed at alleged Iranian shipment in the Damascus International Airport area. Pro-government sources claim that most of them were intercepted.

It should be noted that the Syrian Air Defense Forces (SADF) launched several missiles (allegedly BUK missiles) at Israeli jets. No hits were reported.

UPDATE: The Syrian media says several hostile targets [[most likely missiles] were intercepted.

***

Late on December 25, the Syrian Air Defense Forces were employed near the country’s capital of Damascus.

According to reprots, at least one target was eliminated west of Damascus.

Local media outlets and journalists say that Israeli warplanes were in Lebanese airspace when the incident took place

The situation is developing.

hey little jew….. is time running out for u satanic evil folks??? now playing the american?? for what?? LOL little jew…….but dont worry be happy…those folks to the east of u,,, will soon enough give u an answer u would have not been dreaming about getting………..little jew comes to southfront lolol

HaHa missiles intercepted must be those crappy US kind lol

  • Zionism = EVIL

hahaha the Zionist scum are too scared to come near Syria and now firecrackers are the go :)

  • alejandro casalegno

The land war is slowly ending………..but the air war just began…….

2019 will be the year of the SAMs!!!!

    • Zionism = EVIL

The SAA should move S-300 batteries near the Lebanese border and Iran also needs to focus on building an integrated air defence network covering both Syria and Lebanon. The Zionists only understand strength and a similar number of ground to ground missiles should be fired at Zionist targets in Golan and Northern Occupied Palestine.

      • alejandro casalegno

The SAA need time and training.before the battle against the IAF……….the zionist EW is superb, remenber 1982.

        • Zionism = EVIL

True, but this is not 1982 and SAA and Hezbollah are far better armed with huge missile inventories. The Zionist scum operate on Hollywood myths and in reality are very scared to suffer casualties. That is why, no matter what the cost, the SAA must retaliate proportionally for every violation of Syrian territory. It is a case of use it or lose it.

  • Lebanon airspace should be jammed and protected by S300 – oh moment. Putin has a secret deal with Netanyahu not allowing Syria to shot down any Israeli warplane.
And all chit chat about airport for an airport here on South Front was only propaganda bullshit.

    • Zionism = EVIL

The British devious criminals and Zionist scum are setting Russia up for a major conflict in Ukraine and Black Sea area so that they leave Syria. Most of the Russian fleet has already shifted from the Mediterranean to Black Sea. Also a large Turkish arms shipment was intercepted in Libya today. US, Zionists and Turkeys are coordinating a trap for Russia in the region. So far Russia has only shown weakness in Syria, largely due to its inferiority complex and penetration by Jews. Americunts, Turkeys and Zionists have literally killed dozens of Russians in Syria without any consequences. Putin is not fit for leadership as he was a corrupt mere major in the KGB and not really educated and his only posting was a useless position in Dresden GDR, where the Jews controlled the intelligence via stasi head Markus Wolf (man without a face), who worked for Mossad and provided wrong information to the Russians until the Berlin Wall collapsed and end of USSR.

      • Bigaess Wangmane

Assuming all of this is/was true, who would you recommend as Putin’s replacement? Khodorkovsky?

        • FlorianGeyer

          Lol

        • Zionism = EVIL

Too be honest, Shoigu or anyone with real Russian values of patriotism and from the military would be better than Putin and his corrupt Jew oligarch masters who have ruined Russia and sold out. Russia is not a monolithic country but has huge internal ethnic problems, which the Jews dating back to fcukwit Bolsheviks exploited.Russia has truncated population of barely 140 million and out of that around 20% of more Muslims and other groups. The ethic Slavic Russians are the only people besides Japanese that are in demographic decline, largely due to lack of medical access and alcoholism.

  • Sephy

Dear Southfront, where is your airport for an airport counter strikes?

    • Zionism = EVIL

Southfront just reports the news. It was the SAA that announced that policy. I had my doubts considering that Russians are still licking Zionist arse and SAA and Iranian forces have been hit over 120 times in Syria and have done nothing. Even according to the IRGC affiliated Tasnim news outlet Iran has lost around 780 servicemen in Syria, including 30 senior officers (actually a “general” in IRGC is merely a field grade colonel) however, these losses are unacceptable and there needs to be retaliation.

      • Sephy

To be honest, the news didn’t seem credible when I read that.

      • Bigaess Wangmane

How many times has Syria been hit since the S-300’s were given to the SAA? Zero. How many servicemen have lost their lives due to Scumraeli bombing since the S-300’s were given to the SAA? Zero. So, what exactly are you complaining about?

        • Patriotic_White_American

Israel has slapped those S300’s again and again

          Syria can’t do shit

          • Zionism = EVIL

No Jew “bro” you have ignorant shit for brains. Seriously !

          • AJ

Israel hasnt done anything in 3 months! now they fire of a few missiles, most look to have been shot down! great shit from you again.

          • Tom-Einar Nikolaisen

            Where? When?

Troll. The sun is setting on your empire…

  • @Inc2Get

Okay, some people are confused so let me be clear. Syria has NOT finished S-300 training and the systems can not be deployed until then. It will take approximately 1 more month until they finish full training. Russia has a deal with Israel that they can strike Iranian weapon transport but not Syrian and the Israelis have agreed. Syria is aware of this deal and is defending it’s borders.

One thing that makes me go crazy is, if the S200-SAM system is this effective, enough to shoot down missiles and rockets from F-35 planes, how will the S-300 compare to this? The S-200 systems are from Soviet era yet they seem very effective against missiles and rockets.

    • Zionism = EVIL

Well, that is no excuse, the Russians have had the decoration piece S-400 in Syria for 3 years now and done fcuk all. They are selling the S-400 to the Turkeys who are Russia’s mortal enemies and have openly said that they will allow Americunts and NATO stooges to examine the S-400. Seriously, how dumb are the Ruskies?

      • @Inc2Get

Lol, the Russians have driven a wedge in NATO, sold weapons to Turkey, a NATO member, and u think it’s bad for them? It’s all strategic moves. The US base in Turkey is the most strategic base in the world. It literally gives them an uperhand in the middle east. If Russia makes Turkey a good enough “ally” and make Turkey stronger both politically and geopolitically, they won’t need the US or they might demand more money from the US or even more concessions and that could make the US deny them the requests which would put Russia in a prime position for that base. Also, Russia has said many times that the S-400 systems and the S-300 systems will only protect Russian bases and no one else. Turkey and Russia enjoy a much better relationship than the rest of the west.

        • Zionism = EVIL

Turkey will never be a Russian ally for historical reasons going back to Czar Peter era. Russia is weak today and mere footnote of the USSR and Turkey and NATO know it. The Bilderberg Jews know that Russia is the last resource rich nation left and they will destroy it like Yugoslavia. Ukraine is just the beginning, unless Russia starts building dependable alliances. Selling S-400 to Turkeys and Saudis are is hardly very astute strategic policy. So far the S-400 has never been battle tested despite over 3,000 NATO sorties in Syria and 120 Zionist attacks.

          • @Inc2Get

First of all, Turkey and Russia have forged better alliance than Turkey and NATO or Turkey and the US. Secondly, it’s not the Bilderberg that controls these things but rather a secret organisation that we will probably never hear of. Bilderberg is just the front of it. Selling the S-400 systems world wide has not only made Russia a superpower but a reliable partner in terms of heavy weapons. You are right that Ukraine is the beginning and that they will seek to destroy it however, the 3000 NATO sorties in Syria were 99% against ISIS and Syrian infrastructure and not against Syria directly. Also, do you really want Syria to engage in a war with NATO? That would just give them reason to obliterate Syria. No one except for Russia and China can fight off NATO.

          • Zionism = EVIL

Some points are valid, but NATO is not that powerful as Afghanistan has shown. Secondly, Turks are the most devious people in the region and allied to Zionists and are the second largest NATO army. Why would any rational country sell its most “sophisticated” weapons to its sworn enemies. There is no restrictions on Russia or anyone to sell any amount of arms to Syria or Iran, including S-400 and SU-35, so Russia does not need to fight directly but via local actors in the region. If the Americunts can give the Zionist parasites $2 TRILLION worth of weapons since 1950, why can’t Russia support its allies. The USSR used to play the same games with Arabs and look what happened.

      • John Whitehot

“that they will allow Americunts and NATO stooges to examine the S-400. Seriously, how dumb are the Ruskies?”

Seriously, how come NATO has had S300s in their possession (Cyprus, Czech republic, Ukraine) and could never come up with a solution to them?

One answer is, that Russia (as other nations) never exports the same hardware it employs itself.

Another is, that these systems cannot be reliably jammed.

        • Zionism = EVIL

Well, S-300 have never been used in combat by the Russians, Greeks, Iranians or anyone so time will tell if they have been compromised.

  • Redadmiral

The Big Problem with the S-300 Favorite which Syria secured from Russia at the beginning of October is not so much where it is located but it’s size. Syria has a battalion strength S-300, whereas they really need 2 Regiment size systems, which would have 24 TELs and the capacity to guard multiple sites simultaneously. 4 TELs is one sixth of Syria’s needs and offers only limited capability. We are also only nearing the point of Syrian Air Defence training on the 4 TELs that they have. Hopefully Russia will in the New Year increase the strength of the SyAD to at least Regiment capacity. Now that would be a real game changer…

    • Zionism = EVIL

In all fairness, Russians are not that dependable or smart. If that was the case, the west would not have destroyed the USSR so easily and bled them to death in Afghanistan via the Wahhabi headchoppers. The Americunts and NATO are doing the same in Syria and Russia has not stood by its allies and is too scared of US.

      • @Inc2Get

You are very right man. Russia has to gain back their balls and stand it’s ground but I hope Syria is just the beginning of their reign. I would consider Syria a major victory for Russia because it is now considered a super power and the US left so it’s up to them now. Let’s see if they can achieve more than the west did in Iraq in terms of peace.

        • Zionism = EVIL

I totally agree and hope Russian grows some cajones, but I doubt it under Putin who is controlled by Jews. If Russia was smart it would start arming Iran, a large nation with an illustrious military history than can help secure Russia’s soft underbelly in the south. Russia took 8 years to deliver antiquated S-300 to Iran and backed out of other military sales programs. Not a good way to make friends or become a reliable ally.

          • @Inc2Get

You are right. Leaked documents from the Kremlin in 2013 showed that Yeltsin, the former president of Russia, received requests from Russian jewish elite groups to name 1 president to assume power and one that they could control. After that, Putin became president and Yeltsin stepped down. But dude, please don’t forget that ordinary jews have nothing to do with this and it’s merely the elites and filthy jews that do these things. I’ve seen many jews starve to death while these people cause wars to benefit themselves.

Edit: I will try to find the documents, It’s been a while since I saw them. I remember Wikileaks re-uploading them.

          • ZP

So Jews control both the US and Russia? Why are these two in a bitter conflict right now making the World shiver in fear about the future? Pretty sure you think Jews control the EU as well? What about China?

    • @Inc2Get

Okay, some people are confused so let me be clear. Syria has NOT finished S-300 training and the systems can not be deployed until then. Also, I doubt that Russia wants Syria to shoot down Israeli war planes because that would escelate things. They only want Syria to have the ability to defend against missiles but not shoot down the planes.

      • Patriotic_White_American

S400 has been operational for years and that junk can’t shoot anything down

        • AJ

Better then that Patriot system junk which most experts rank way lower down than the S400!

        • Tom-Einar Nikolaisen

          Where? When?

I’ve heard the F-22 has a tendency to leave Syrian airspace whenever the Su-30 takes off…

    • John Whitehot

I remember reading they have 3 regimental sets, but for what i gather, a regimental set is the basic operating battery, complete with radars, comms, launchers, reloads etc.

I’m going off of livemap, but I do realize it is not a pro-Assad source.

        • Manuel Flores Escobar

Debris and pieces( of both missile) of the explosion on air during the interceptation…no Israeli missile has hitted Syrian bases

          • Patriotic_White_American

            Hahahaha XD

Syria got fucked and you’re trying to lie about it

            Humiliating

          • Daniel Miller

considering their is no video or reports of missiles hitting anything in or around damascus it is possible also the fact only 3 ingured confirms this since if it was a direct hit or even a near miss their will be more ingured and ofc dead
but we will wait and see it might not be the case, but then again i am most likely talking to a kike form the IDF (since you only seem to be on isreli news articles on south front) ether way we shall see.

          • AJ

Big fail from zios again several missiles intercepted!!

          • Manuel Flores Escobar

Humiliating is to shoot 20 missiles for nothing!..have you seen explosion on ground or fire?…IDF should care of its Iron Dome…last palestine attack failed to intercept home made rockets

          • Sinbad2

I gather a couple got through, and there have been some casualties, 4 I think?

    • @Inc2Get

Dude, the missiles did not hit Syria, they were intercepted by S-200 systems. the S-300 is not deployed yet due to training.

      • Patriotic_White_American

        Yeah right LOL

        Syrians can only intercept IL20’s

        • Tom-Einar Nikolaisen

For a troll you hold really low quality.

Like, not provoking, just irritating. Lika a fly…

    • AJ

Missiles intercepted is not fail lol

  • Dick Von Dast’Ard

    Israel violating Lebanese airspace again.
Only a matter of time until Hezbollah violates Israels.

    • it is about time.

      • Dick Von Dast’Ard

From what I see on livemap, SAA has not taken this lying down but have fired a ballistic weapon back… At the aircraft.

    • Nowruz

Our government needs to buy some s200 or s300s from Russia badly. Without our airspace the Apartheid State would not be a threat to Syria or Lebanon unless they try the Mediterranean and then we can see a few downed jets.

      • Dick Von Dast’Ard

I’m surprised that Syria has any S-200’s left after several years of war with Israel.

        • Zionism = EVIL

You are right, SAA had 10 batteries of SA-2 and SA-6 mobile and most were left to rot. Iranian engineers repaired some to Sayyed 2 standard in 2016 and that is the unit that brought down the Zionist F-16I a few months ago. The Russians have also given Syria a few Pantsir medium range units, but so far SAA has not proven so proficient in using them or making hardened silos for them and the Zionists took out a Pantsir battery as the SAA soldiers left the unit in the open and were smoking outside. Arming Hezbollah with air defence is a far better bet.

          • Dick Von Dast’Ard

Houthi’s showed what R-27’s can do.

          • Zionism = EVIL

Absolutely. Any system used properly is lethal. Even volley fire SAMS in radar blind environment can bring down modern jets as Vietnam showed. The Americunts deployed the most sophisticated wild weasels and growler ECM systems in Vietnam and also in Syria in 1982, but even the SAA under Hafez Assad downed 3 US jets over Lebanon and Golan capturing US pilots. The problem is that for some reason the SAA does not have qualified or disciplined SAM operators. The Egyptians in 1973 also destroyed the Zionist airforce by properly using a combination of SA-6 mobile and SA2/5 longer range missiles over Sinai.

          • Gregory Casey

The biggest ‘double-standard’ of all is that both Palestinians and Jews are Semites. Anti-Semitism implies only Jewish Population according to today’s everyday usage of the term whilst the actual and real meaning is just what it says: Anti Semites. Palestinians are 95%+ Semitic Population and so the use of the term by and of the Zionist apologists, cheerleaders and trolls intent on highlighting their latest list of “Anti-Semites” for their criticism of Israel is, essentially, wholly ignorant, entirely misleading and a falsehood. The Internet Trolls who constantly bray “anti-Semite” on every occasion the Israel States commits another atrocity and people protest about it need to be called out for their ignorance and their falsehoods ……. in addition to their Racism.

          • Zionism = EVIL

Actually Arabs of all religious denominations are the real SEMITES. The ghetto Khazars from eastern Europe are neither Jews nor Semites. All fake Hollywood narrative to justify the Zionist criminal occupation of Palestine circa 1948.

          • Gregory Casey

            Sing it from the rooftops!!

          • Ewan

Are you trolling for Israel? Both Palestinians and Jews are NOT Semites. Palestinians overwhelmingly ARE Semites. Most of the Jews inside 1948 Palestine were semites (minority of the population). Almost ALL of the European settlers which now account for 80% of israelis, are NOT semites but converted Khazars/eastern Europeans with NO Semitic bloodlines.
Forget about historians that set about proving it (like Koestler), simply reference the latest genetic research. Israel is simply a European settler colonial project in the heart of the middle east and has to be dismantled.

          • Gregory Casey

I agree with you. I SHOULD have said that all Palestinians and the native-born Israeli Population of Palestine.

          • Sinbad2

I read the same thing about Syrian SAM operators. It’s a separate branch of the military. But to be honest all of the Syrian military was hopeless at the start of this war. For the army battle has made them get tough or die.
            But the missile brigade?
A big Russian boot up the are$ is what they need, and have been getting, since the idiots fired at a target when there was a Russian plane in the area.

          • Zionism = EVIL

Indeed, I have seen videos of three SAA soldiers parking a Pantsir missile and rapid fire cannon truck in open space and not even dug in and casually smoking outside. The SAA has always had discipline issues and the rout on the Golan in 1973 was part of the problem when tank units broke off attacks to stop for lunch and cigarette breaks. The Iraqis had to intervene and stopped the Zionist advance at Sassa Ridge at huge cost, the Moroccan special forces fought with great determination too or the SAA would have rolled back to Damascus.

          • John Whitehot

You can’t employ them in that way on high flying targets like the Israelis.

          • Dick Von Dast’Ard

Presumably the Syrians aren’t putting up MiG-29’s on CAP?

          • John Whitehot

Firstly, there is little info on Syrian Mig-29s, but it appears that they are training in Russia and basically get the same capabilities as Russian pilots of the same types.

Secondly, it would not make much sense, as even on CAP they would probably need to enter Lebanon to intercept the Israelis, and also risk being shot down by escorting fighters (the Israelis surely monitor the airspace during these missions).

Imagine what would happen if Syrians invaded Lebanese airspace.

At any rate, you cited Houthis R-27s, which were of the T (or unlikely TE) version, hence IR guided, therefore able to be launched from the ground with no need of a radar lock.

          • Dick Von Dast’Ard

Well the way I see it, the Israeli’s have no compulsion in launching attacks over Lebanese air space, why should Syria not do so?
First hint of Israeli aircraft activity over Lebanon, the Syrians should be scrambling.

          • John Whitehot

Because jews say that “double standards” are a clear sign of anti-semitism, when in fact most Israeli policies are based on them.

          • FlorianGeyer

I can hear the Western media hysteria now John :)

          • John Whitehot

I was referring to the “3d’s of antisemitism”, a rule that jews and others are taught to rate if a certain content is antisemite.

they stand for “Delegitimization, Demonization, Double standards”.

This, if they are used -against- jews or Israel.

Now go ahead and use the same principle for all the enemies of western media, starting with Russia, Syria, Iran etcetera.

I mean, the “double standards” part here assumes thriple, quadriple, multiple meanings.

          • Sukhoi-35

unfortunately they don’t have a lot of them

          • John Whitehot

“and the Zionists took out a Pantsir battery as the SAA soldiers left the unit in the open and were smoking outside”

and they had the courage to publish the video.

        • John Whitehot

Russia had hundreds of S200s in stock.
The weapons in itself only need to pass a brief diagnostic test to be deemed operational.

Russia has restored the Syrian air defences long before the S300 transfer – it was important as much of its operational capability was destroyed in the very first days of the “revolution”, when units of extraordinarily well trained “moderate rebels” disabled large part of it in a series of surprise attacks (a chapter in the history of this war, that I hope will be studied in detail and published some day).

          • Sukhoi-35

S-200 is a good system but cannot compete against active jamming from 4+ gen aircraft. ECM/EW completely disables it. S-300 on the other hand, can overcome ECM. That’s what’s needed here but SAA have NO operational S-300 in Damascus area.

          • John Whitehot

the F-16I shot down by an S-200 some months ago over the golan should be enough evidence that EW “completely disables it”. It may degrade it to some point, but there’s no such thing as 100% sure EW.

          • Sukhoi-35

completely is an overstatement exaggeration. But look at the SYAAD success rate using S-200. Literally 5+ years of isisrael airforce strikes and only downed 1 or 2 at most idf planes. This means EW and ECM pods do wonders for saving planes from old missiles. Fortunately, the updated S-300’s once operational, coupled with maybe even Krasutakh-4, will bolster Damascus a lot more. That’s what’s needed here. But in regards to older S-200, only way to make it updated and resistant to ECM is by making a brand new radar for it or heavily updating its existent tracking/early warning radars, either that or new S-300 lol.

          • John Whitehot

it’s just that S200 have to operate at the limits of their engagement ranges – when the missiles get near the targets they have already exhausted their fuel and aren’t able to keep tracking if the target is maneuvering.

S300s may solve the problem as they can be launched without the receiving aircraft even knowing that there was a missile directed against it, until a couple seconds before impact.

      • Zionism = EVIL

Actually, the Zionist entity is merely 60 kms wide from Occupied Golan to Haifa and its airspace can be shut down by a few batteries of S-300. Ben Gurion airport was shut down for 8 hours even when SAA finally fired an old Soviet era, Iranian upgraded S-200 and brought down the Zionist F-161. The only reason the Zionist scum strut is that the Arabs don’t retaliate. Syria needs to show some self-respect and hit back, regardless of the cost. The Zionists simply can not fight a long ground war as it will destroy them.

        • Ewan

The only reason why Zionist scum strut is because the US stands squarely behind them even when they massacre civilians in Gaza

      • Ashok Varma

It is strange that Russia sells arms to its enemies like Turkey and Pakistan and not Iran?

Forget about S-200, they are ineffective against electronic countermeasures and jamming. Upgraded S-300 and upgraded S-125 are the best choice. SAA S-300 are NOT yet operational in Damascus.

Your government has all it needs. It;s not a question of IF but WHEN Hezbollah invades the Galilee with full IRGC support. Can someone ask Soleimani when? i’m getting tired of waiting.

Russian forces were busy in Christmas events and Israeli terror state was looking for the right time to attack them. 2 days ago I have told them that Israel is going to attack Syria.

        • Ivan

Orthodox Christmas is on 7 January, as we use the Julian calendar. So Russians had no Christmas whatsoever.

          • Lazy Gamer

So maybe expect an attack on January 7 at their bases?

        • Peter Jennings

Christmas day does seem to be an appropriate day for the isreali regime to attack christians, muslims, anyone they choose. As with Netty’s drawings, they love taking the piss.

          • Rob

Israeli attacks are similarly to ISIS terrorists that look for events to attack civilians and servicemen.

    • Rob

Same like Israel the Lebanese aerospace is a serious threat to Syria.

    • Rodger

Let him continue. Israel might do a little damage to some targets but they are doing massive damage to their international image too. People aren’t buying their narrative anymore. When even on Breitbart 50% of the responders blame Israel you know they are running out of PR credit fast.

      • Peter Jennings

Successive western admins and organisations have let things go to such an extent that the isreali regime is becoming a major world problem. I agree, people are not buying the narrative. The accounts of isreali brutality and expansionism is well known and well documented. They cannot escape that record. It’s taken some time, but that record is now calling into question not only their current narrative but also those that came before which have been drilled into every school kid since the fifties.

When the truth wins out, the isreali reputation goes down the pan.

        • Rodger

It really amazes me that both Syria and Iran are smart enough to just shrug off the petty attacks on them to build up public support. Some unseen force must still be hidden that guides them. They shot back a few missiles this time to see how the world (and Israel) would react. Nobody was outraged so it certainly doesn’t look good for Israel. And worse 1 of those few rockets flew straight over Israel and crashed on the Mediterranean shore showing the Iron Dome is far from perfect.
Anyway Jordan is next and then it will be Iran as the proxy force behind the civil war.

          • Peter Jennings

The isreali regime is losing its mask and its composure. Both Iran and Syria, and Hezbollah for that matter, are being restrained by the Russian admin. The Russian admin got involved to help Syria, not Iran or Hezbollah. Although there is an alliance between those who want peace for the region and that includes all the aforementioned, except isreal of course.

IMO, Jordan will start to keep a low profile. They have been quietly backing out of this fight for a while. They allowed their borders to be used for terrorism, probably at the bequest of the UK gov’t and the King’s good mate, Prince Charlie. Now those borders are closed apparently.

Because the US political system is so corrupt, the isreali regime foreign policy and the US foreign policy are the same.

And a Happy New Year to you as well.
It is sure to be one of seismic events I think :)

          • Peter Jennings

Let’s hope that this year our politicians make some honest resolutions and stand by them. If they don’t, there is a risk of some citizens building fires and other citizens grabbing ankles and removing shoes.

          • FlorianGeyer

            In ‘yellow vests’ :)

I would not like to bet that UK/EU/US politicians will have a political epiphany though .

The current imbalance will only resolved in blood I suspect , as those in power have far too much to lose.

Even a front page UK Daily Telegraph had a large colour photo of the Queen with the headline, ” Queen: UK must overcome ‘deeply held differences’. ”

The room the Queen was sitting in was very ostentatious with guilded furniture and wall coverings. Surely a more modest setting would have been more appropriate ?

          • Peter Jennings

They are oblivious to the irony.
The queen is just apprehensive at the trouble which could erupt and affect her schedules. Other than that, i don’t think she cares too much about the people.

We should disregard what we are told by our ‘overlords’ as we have heard it all before. They sit in their luxury and tell the hoi polloi to tighten their belts and be happy in their poverty.

This has gone on for far too long already.

      • AM Hants

Fingers crossed, yet, doubt they will bother, owing to political pressure.

        • Peter Jennings

Either way it does show that the UN still has a pulse. I’m buying the popcorn just in case.

  • John Whitehot

note that the missiles seen in the videos are most definitely not S300s, as they seem to take off diagonally from some kind of ramp, like S200s or S125.

It would be very interesting to know more about possible usage of the S300s in Syria, as it would be the first known combat usage of the system.

In regards to Israeli strikes, they will keep doing them. It costs them little to launch from Lebanese airspace, and even if all the missiles are shot down, they can always tell their public that the “S300 hasn’t stopped the raids from happening”, which is probably the reason they have made this one – together with sending the message that “the US may be withdrawing, but Israel will persecute regime changing agenda”.

Perhaps it’s time somebody at the UN brings up the issue of Israel not only invading Lebanese airspace at leisure, but also employing lethal weapons from within it.

We are at the point that if Syria shoots down an attacking Israeli jet inside Lebanon, and it kills some civilians while crashing, we’ll have to hear the US and the clique condemning the Syrian regime for causing innocent casualties in Lebanon.

    • Dick Von Dast’Ard

I think I read a recent article stating that S-300 is operational close to Deir ez-Zor area.

      • John Whitehot

        One regimental set it is.
There should be two others, it seems strange that Damascus is not covered by at least one.
but in fact, the Syrians may not be using them as these attacks could be “baits”, done with the intent to make the new Siryan AD infrastructure turn on and study it.

        • Dick Von Dast’Ard

Isn’t Buk-M1 (SA-11/17) the main SAM in the Damscus air defensive zone?
          Lethal, but mid-range. (30 miles)

          • John Whitehot

            idk in the slightest.

afaik, Buks are corps level or army level AD system. They should defend tactical targets, not strategic ones, at least in Soviet doctrine.

But I can’t answer on Syria ‘s usage of it and their place in the IADS organization, especially in chaotic times like these.

          • Dick Von Dast’Ard

From looking at Syria’s list of SAM’s the Buk-M1/2 would appear to be the most capable missile that they can field and also a system the the Russians would have been most comfortable with – as a non escalator against Israeli interests.

          • John Whitehot

the perception of capability from a public, uneducated point of view is largely wrong.

If the attack has been aimed at fixed targets, logistical or infrastructural, as it has been stated, the Buk would not normally be one system employed in defence, as it would be attached to army’s HQs and kept ready to defend from attacks on tactical units under the command of said HQ, while other units apt to strategic defense will engage this attack.

But as I said, it’s not easy to put things in order in this situation.

          • Sinbad2

The choices available in Russian air defense systems is quite impressive.

But it does – they hate it. Christmas is not just a religious holiday, it’s a symbol – of peace, of hope… Israel is not attacking some shitty base, they are attacking that symbol. This is not a coincidence; it’s a carefully planed act of terror, they are exactly like ISIS… sending a message to Syrian people: “no peace for you, we will continue to kill you. Even on Christmas. Especially on Christmas. We enjoy killing gentiles on Christmas.”

      • justaminute

That is because they don’t actually read the Script for themselves, they let others tell them what is in it. I grew up in a family of them and am considered a heretic because I read it for myself and it says something completely different than what I was taught it says. When I try to tell them they try to shut me up. I tell them Christ called them serpents and vipers and you should hear them try to twist it. It i almost laughable if it weren’t so sad.

Tartus was not the only reason for Russian intervention, and I think they would have been prepared to lose it.
The American gas pipeline to Europe was an overriding factor.
If the US had been able to supply gas to Europe, they could have easily pressured the EU to give up Russian gas.

NorthStream2 and TurkStream are going ahead because Europe has no other choice, it needs the energy, and Russia is the only viable source at the moment.

In the future, when the Americans can no longer stop the Iran/Iraq/Syria pipeline to Europe there will be 2 suppliers of gas to Europe. I have read that Gazprom has a stake in the Iranian pipeline.

        All wars are about money.

      • Harvey Swinestein

Syria has had a long and close relationship with Iran for decades. They were allies with Iran (nominally) during the Iran-Iraq war and have supported Hezbollah for decades. Russia’s interest in Syria went way beyond Tartus, being much more regional and global in its strategy. Russians have a saying: “He who tries to defend everything, loses everything”. This is why they are not trying to police the world as the US is and they are not spending trillions trying to maintain 1500+ military bases worldwide.

        • Zionism = EVIL

True, but Assad senior kept arms supplies to Hezbollah at a very minimal level. Only after the Zionist scum were kicked out of Lebanon by Hezbollah, have the arms supplies via Syria increased under Bashar. In any case Hezbollah is stronger, more disciplined, unified and battle tested than any Arab army, including SAA which in 2014 had got down to 30% operational strength and if Iran and Shia militias would have not intervened the headchoppers would have been sitting in Damascus chopping body parts for their Zionist and CIA masters.

Here’s what my sources in Lebanon and Syria say about this jewy Christmas gift to Syria, verbatim:

    Dec 26, 2018

The Israeli air offensive on Tuesday night, Dec. 25, was conducted by IAF F-16 fighter jets firing Delilah cruise missiles from Lebanese air space into Syria.

Damascus countered the attack with Russian Pantsir-S2 and S-200 SAM air defense weapons.

The Israeli attack was aimed at Syrian military sites – not Iranian and Hizballah targets as earlier reported in Israel and Damascus.

The Israeli government and military chiefs had apparently decided to take advantage of the chaos generated by President Donald Trump’s decision to pull US troops out of Syria and Ankara’s threat of a
Turkish army thrust across the Euphrates.

After the F-16 jets failed to connect to their targets, the IA sent the F-35 stealth planes over in a second wave.

Early Wednesday, the Syrian army released a video claiming to depict the interception of one of many Israeli missiles hit by its air defense systems.

A blackout covers the circumstances of the massive explosion that rocked Israeli towns, including Hadera, Caesarea and Zichron Yaacov while the attack over Syria was in progress. Syria did indeed
fire a missile into Israel in retaliation. The IAspokesman would only say “The air defense system was activated against a missile launched from Syria, No damage or casualties.”

This laconic statement indicates that interception did not take place and the Syrian missile may have landed somewhere in Israel. Social media carry photos of its fragments. Witnesses attest to the activation of an Israeli air defense battery located at Ain Shemer.

This was the second time in six months that an IA air defense battery failed to down a Syrian missile. On
July 23, a David’s Sling anti-air battery missed two Syrian SS-21 surface missiles that were heading for the Sea of Galilee.

The targets of the Israeli attack were located at the military section of Damascus airport, where an Iranian transport plane – some say three – had landed, and two other locations: Dimas, headquarters of the Syrian army’s 4th Division, Qatana, site of its 10th Division, and the command center of Syrian artillery forces further south at Khan al-Sheikh.

One of the Israeli missiles was aimed at a high-profile Hizballah delegation which had landed in Damascus from Beirut at 16:00 local time ready to board an Iranian flight bound for Tehran. They were on
their way to the funeral of Ayatollah Hashemi Alshaharoudi. Only one member of the delegation was hurt.

  • Sukhoi-35

-48 isisrael missiles intercepted, 7 made it through and hit a SAA ammo depot and small building
    – S200’s were used to target isisrael jets, no hits confirmed because 1960’s tech cannot compete with 4+ gen fighter jets. Pantsir and BUK used to intercept enemy missiles
-reports of 1 or 2 malfunctioned air defense missiles on video… possible jamming/ECM
-S300 NOT yet operational in Damascus province
-IDF had very hard time penetrating syria missile shield, had to launch 4 waves of attacks and STILL only 7 missiles confirmed to get through

  • RichardD

An attack on Christmas day. The evil Jews did this just to be offensive and obnoxious. Israel and Judaism should be extinguished.

“It should be noted that the Syrian Air Defense Forces (SADF) launched several missiles (allegedly BUK missiles) at Israeli jets. No hits were reported.”

If this is true, it’s both good and bad news. The good news is that the baby rapers are now being targeted outside of Syrian airspace. And that there’s a high success rate of taking down enemy missiles in Syrian airspace. The bad news is that IAF planes are able to get away with it without being intercepted. These planes should be targeted whenever they pose a threat, and taken down on as needed basis. Letting them carry out attacks without eliminating the attackers when an effort is being made to do that is a big problem. When Syria has been provided weapons that are supposed to be able to do that.

    • John Whitehot

“When Syria has been provided weapons that are supposed to be able to do that.”

Except it was told from the beginning that their deployment would be complete in three months.
Add to that, that Israel presents as a “victory” the video of the destruction of a turned off, unmanned air defence system and you may come up with a large part of what is the situation on the ground.

      • RichardD

That’s a salient observation. But the only thing that may not be complete is the S-300s set up and some of the satcom integration. Once the rules of engagement changed, and there are media reports of SADF activity in Israeli airspace in response to this incident. Then Syria has a range of weapons to to take the fight to the Jews over Israel, Lebanon, and the sea, even if the S-300s aren’t operational yet. Including Mig-29s, possibly Mig 31s, S-200s, Buk and depending on range, Lebanon isn’t very wide, other systems.

The Mig 29s can be loaded with stand off weapons and serve as highly mobile air defense systems that operate in Syrian airspace near border areas, or over international waters.

The fact that the rules of engagement changed, but none of the weapons deployed were effective against IAF planes. Puts Russia and Russian equipment in a bad light.

        • RichardD
        • Gregory Casey

I don’t think they were deployed at all.

The S-300s have been there for 3 months already if I’m not mistaken. And they were supposed to be operational in that time. And if they’re not going to be used to defend Damascus, why not?

The public perception that the Jews are trying to make. And unless something changes have made. Is that Russian equipment is powerless from stopping the IAF from carrying out attacks with impunity. If this isn’t corrected. It’s a huge win for the Jews that will fuel the neocon crazies in DC and elsewhere into even more hostile behavior against Russia, China and anyone else using Russian equipment.

The Russians laid down the law and the Jews called their bluff. And until that’s corrected they are making the Russians and anyone else relying on them look like fools and ripe targets for Jew world order parasitical victimization. Right now this is a very big failure on Russia’s part.

I’m not against Russia at all. But right now they’ve got a serious problem with Israel that can, and until it’s corrected, will do a lot of damage to Russian, and anyone else who wants the Jew aggression worldwide stopped, interests.

“Russia has blamed Israel for the incident and, in response, improved Syria’s air defense network and shipped newer S-300 systems reportedly set to become operational in the hands of the Syrian military by January.”

Good to read those pieces in Pravda & Newsweek Richard : what happened, I think, is that Israeli AF took advantage of the fact that Syrian crews to man S-300 are only now finishing off their training and, from what I glean, won’t be fully operational for another few weeks, at most. I would strongly suggest to Syria AND Russia that they send a New Year Present to Israel.

What happened to Russia/Syria responding to attacks from Israel with force?

The first shipment of S-300s was delivered to Syria on October 1st. At that time it was reported that it would take 3 months to train Syrian crews on the system. Granted it’s a week short of 3 months since the first batch arrived. And taking longer than 3 months to learn to operate the system shouldn’t be ruled out. But the Syrians assisted by Russian specialists should be able to operate them within that time. And the Jews have made their point that nothing’s changed, and over three months since the Russian plane got shot down, they’re still attacking Syria from outside Syrian airspace with impunity. And until that’s stopped. With every attack that occurs, Russia’s reputation suffers further damage. This will only fuel the Jew neocons and their collaborators insane aggression against Russia and it’s allies. Russia drew a line in the sand, And the Jews are kicking sand in Russia’s face. I’m not advocating that Russia do anything rash. But until Russia and it’s allies can successfully mitigate the Jew attacks. It will be used against them.

STOP PANICKING, Iran, Hezbollah and Syria all said an “airport for an airport”, why would anyone think just because they haven’t retaliated immediately, it means they won’t retaliate at all, just wait for a while.
What is painfully obvious though is there should have been an immediate response from the S-300 systems, not the old BUK systems. The Russians aren’t telling us all there is to know about the new dynamic they have with Israel, or the new arrangements they’ve come to. I’ll bet the real new arrangement is nothing like anything that’s been revealed to us so far.
As to Syrians possible not being fully trained to use them yet, that doesn’t account for the Russians that should’ve been manning then 24/7 until the Syrians could operate them independently, afterall the Russians didn’t say they’d become operational only after the Syrians were trained, they said from now on the S-300 will actively retaliate against enemy targets from the time they were deployed, TO IMMEDIATELY PROTECT RUSSIAN PERSONNEL IN SYRIA. Twice now they haven’t been used to PROTECT RUSSIAN PERSONNEL IN SYRIA, that makes Putin look weak in my eyes, all talk and no action as they say. lets see if Iran at least lives up to its word, we have a Hezbollah/Iranian missile strike against Israel on the cards soon, that’s if they’re too be believed too, and I think they’ll do what they say they will.

If the Israeli F16’s had been engaged the F16’s would have shot down the passenger planes, and blamed it on Russia, just like the US did in Ukraine.
They will not fall for such an obvious trap.

      • Willing Conscience (The Truths

I wouldn’t put it past the Israelis either, but only if they thought they could get away with it.

If somebody could get Lebanon to hand over control of their airspace to Syria, the Israeli planes could be shot down the moment they crossed into Lebanon.
