Syrian Air Defense Force Fired S-200 Missile At Israeli Warplanes Over Lebanon – REPORTS

Donate

On September 10 at 11:30 local time, the Syrian Air Defense Force engaged two warplanes of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) over Sidon city in the South Governorate of Lebanon, according to a local pro-government source. The source added that the Syrian Air Defense Force launched a S-200 missile from an air defense base in southern Syria.

The missile was aimed at the two IAF F-15 that were conducting a regular reconnaissance mission over Lebanon. None of the warplanes were hit. According to the source, the main aim of the missile launch was to push the Israeli warplanes out of the Lebanese airspace.

No official Syrian sources have confirmed these claims so far. However, a photo of the S-200 launcher that allegedly fired the missile was published on social media.

The IAF warplanes have not flied that low over Lebanon for safety reasons since 2006 war. The IAF warplanes left the Lebanese aerospace at 11:35, according to the Lebanese Army statement.

If reports about the Syrian Air Defense Force activity are confirmed, this could be another indication that Damasucs shapes its approach towards the Israeli actions in Syria.

In a related development, the Israeli ImageSat International satellite company released photos of the Syrian Scientific Research Center (SSRC) facility in Masyaf that was bombed by the IAF on September 7. The photos show that only 7 buildings inside the facility were hit, with only 3 of them severely damaged.

IAF warplanes attacked the SSRC facility from inside the Lebanese aerospace. Experts believe that Israel used stand-off weapon systems like the Israeli-made guided bomb Spice or Delilah cruise missile.

ImageSat claimed that the SSRC facility is located next to a Russia S-400 air defense system. However, these claims cannot be verified.

On August 25, Deputy Commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces Major-General Sergey Meshcheryakov announced at Army 2017 military expo that a joint Syrian-Russian air defense network was established in Syria. Some experts speculated that the joint air defense network was established to counter the IAF.

Howeve,r it’s more reasonable to believe that the network was established to improve air operations safety over Syria, and to exchange information and experience faster between the two allies. Unlike what the main stream media and Israel media claims, Russia never announced that it will ban the IAF from striking the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Too bad they didnt blow them out of the sky – no doubt Bibi will see this as an overt aggression

    • Moussa Saab

It was not their real intention to destroy the planes, but to show Israel that they would still retaliate against Israel no matter what. But it would have been best if they did fall.

      • gustavo

If you are right, Syria-Russia-Hezbolah must stop doing stupid demonstrations because Israel will not make any demonstration at all.

  • bcbingram

If Israel keeps pushing, there is bound to be push back.

  • Eskandar Black

I havent seen any confirmation of this event. It seems like this is a multifold push book after an israeli attack, and also a message to the SDF advancing on Deir Ezzor, that Syrian patience is not infinite. Assuming this even occurred, Israel could escalate or more likely wait and watch.

  • Serious

So, israel pentrate lebanon sky and the lebanese army say nothing ????

    • They have complained countless times to UN about this, but UN doesn’t take any action.
Lebanon is a very weak country while Israel is a mid power

      • Serious

        Why is Lebanon weak ?

        • Not all countries care about buying weapons or participating in wars.
Lebanon only wants peace and Lebanese people only care about peace not war.
They have no plan of invading other countries

          • Serious

They are weak because they like to be weak. Instead of trying to destroiy Hezbollah which is the only entoty in Lebanon that looks like something, maybe they should try to buy some weapons and why not create some to protect their lands.

If you spent your time doing the opposite of what you should do, why crying ?

          • Nigel Maund

Mate – no point in arguing with you!

You are the epitomy of the old saying: “Never argue with an idiot as he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience”

          • AliS

not sure who told you this, @swirlydragon:disqus .

Lebanon wants arms but US won’t supply anyone bordering Israel, and 1/2 the Lebanese government doesn’t want to receive military equipment from Russia / Iran. Hence why the Lebanese military is poorly equipped.

        • FlorianGeyer

I am sure that even you can answer that question Serious.
You ‘ know’ about everything else but then many Americans do :)

          • Nigel Maund

Unfortunately, the US ranks 45 down the list as being one of the least educated countries in the world, with a typically poor level of academic achievement. Hence, many of their people are constantly intellectually challenged and can hardly string a sentence together let alone spell. As for their mathematics it’s about the level of an 6 or 8 year old. The only way they can cope in an argument, or debate, is to resort to four letter vulgarities. Don’t worry, they will be “the sweat shop labor” of the 21st Century working for Chinese, Russian, Far Eastern and Middle Eastern companies for 6 days a week for about the equivalent of US$ 20 / day if they’re lucky!

          • FlorianGeyer

The dangerous part of course is that after the few worldly and educated Americans passed away several decades ago the House has since been left to the children who never grow up mentally and are almost feral BUT they do have the keys to the ‘gun cabinet’.

Its almost akin to circa 50% of Americans having cognitive abilities, attitudes and lack of manners of the Irish Traveller gangs who travel around Britain in the Summer and loot, desecrate , intimidate and plunder wherever they go. America is doing this to the world.

          • Nigel Maund

Good commentary. The US has become increasingly dangerous as its populace has been systematically and continuously brainwashed by an utterly corrupt and evil media and, moreover, seen it’s entire education systematically “dumbed down” over 50 years to the point that most US graduates, outside science and technology, remain largely uneducated. Worse still many faculties have been utterly politicised to push key agenda’s of the “Deep State” to further the degree of societal brainwashing. To this degree a large section of young American’s are products of a sustained system of intense brainwashing and no longer comprehend the political and economc system they now inhabit. Hence, they are now the “snowflakes” or “libtards”.

          • FlorianGeyer

” most US graduates, outside science and technology, remain largely uneducated ”

Indeed and they carry huge Student Debt as de facto slaves to the elite. Those that end up in jail provide a bonus to the elite via the profits from Private Prisons etc.

          • Nigel Maund

Correct FG! ……..US student debts are topping US 1 Trillion!!. The country is absolutely broke. This is why they are now utterly deperate to start a war before Wikileaks, the Atl Media and a market crash fully expose the enormity of their crimes and the people finally wake up and overcome their inate apathy.

          • FlorianGeyer

War has oft been the chosen method to unite a nation BUT it always relies on a captive media to disseminate unchallenged propaganda which these days is rather difficult.

The additional problem that the US has is the total mental unpreparedness of all to many Americans to endure a war with Russia or China that will impact directly upon their lives, towns and cities . They and their forefathers have never endured such violence at ‘home’ since the US Civil War and never on the scale of a nuclear war as Russia arguably did and overcame in WW2 when 26 million Russians perished.

There is also the issue of the general physical unfitness of the American poor who are traditionally drafted to die for the Glory of Amerika whilst their Zionist ‘betters’ stay at home in their Safe Places.

          • Nigel Maund

The poor Americans have been brainwashed by a highly pernicious and evil media over 50 years. Also, Hollywood has worked to further the deepening of the brainwashing process. Hollywood is run by Illuminati Zionists; of that I can avalanche you with proof. MONSANTO with its; GMO foods and the enormous US food chemical industry has bombarded US with a cocktail of dangerous chemicals causing all sorts of diseases for more than 50 years and this is only getitng worse. Then you have the equally dangerous huge Pharma industry which is totally unethical and corrupted plying vastly overpriced and unwanted medicines to the US populace by the bucket load. This is covered brilliantly by www,naturalnews.com (Dr Mike Adams). Finally, to top it all off big Pharma and the medical profession have been injecting US citizens with contaminated and doctored vaccines for decades. Is it any wonder that US children have the highest incidence of ADHD, ADD, Autism and other such afflictions on the entire planet. America is run by criminals for the crimnals and those are the facts.80% of the US Government are criminals and corrupt. You guys are going to have to wake up before you’re all marched off to FEMA camps when the economy comes down and you can’t afford to buy food and gas for your cars or pay for your accommodation. The “American Gulag Archipelago” has already been prepared. The education system has been systematically destroyed over 50 years as a Governent “Deep State” policy. Next come the robots to replace all unskilled and semi – skilled workers. These “Precariat” will be wiped out.

Too weak to challenge them. If lebanon had S400’s the story would be substantially different.

  • Deo Cass

That’s what a true ally Russia is to Syria! Give me a break. Russia only wanted to get a long term contract for its military and naval bases there. The collusion of Russia with the Zionist tyrannical entity and betrayal of the Syrian state is obvious from the fact that this facility was supposedly protected by Russian S400’s close by. If I were Assad I would order the Russians out of Syria unless they live up to their role as a true ally of Syria and shoot down any Israeli or of any other nation’s intruding warplane which dares breach Syrian soveignty. Or naybe this by Israel was a message to Russia that it has the means to destroy Russia’s S400’s without Russia being able to do anything about it? Whatever the case, Russia is a total fail!

    • Serious

Assad can’t buy because Russia will not sell because netanyahu said so. That’s why I said that Russia betrayed Syrians. Russia just want the naval bases. Russia doesn’t care that much about Syria.

      • Nigel Maund

Wrong! There’s a great deal more than Naval bases at stake here. Think in geostrategic terms and a great deal longer term and what this all means. Yours analysis is way to shallow. Do I have to explain it all??

        • Serious

Yes. Russia wants the naval bases and doesn’t want ISIS to be a threat for Russia. But, Russia doesn’t protect enough Syria. Russia wants to please the west and israel which act like spies. have to choose very wisely your allies.

          • RichardD

Really? Is that why the Syrian government coalition has steam rolled the Jew world order terrorists for the entire year, what war are you watching? And when the war is over Israel will have a conventional and nuclear military coalition on it’s northern borders that it’s no match for in the first time in it’s history. That has every intention of implementing the 100+ UN resolutions that Israel is in chronic and flagrant violation of. You really need to get up to speed with what’s actually happening in Syria.

        • FlorianGeyer

” Do I have to explain it all? ”

Sadly Nigel even explaining it would be comprehended by Serious. He is a product of American Exceptionalism.

          • RichardD

As are many Americans still brain washed by the lying Jew media that they’ve been inundated with from birth. If it was most Americans, Trump would have never gotten elected. There hasn’t been a candidate who talked America First before Trump. And the Jew world order has fought him and America First every step of the way. And is losing. Which is part of why the Syrian war is going so well.

Thank God you ain’t Assad else Syria would be long gone. Leaders don’t make decisions based on emotions, not that they don’t have emotions but any leader worth his salt must weigh the pros and cons, cost and benefits before making any decision especially and I mean more especially when his nation is under existential threat. The relationship between Russia and Syria is mutually beneficial but right now Syria need Russia more than Russia need Syria because Russia is a pivotal part of the collision pulling Syria out of the jaws of death.

Not exactly. Russia is trying to avoid a WWIII at any (almost) any cost. Russia can of course shut down any Israel or USA plane without any problem, at any distance in the middle east with the S-400 system, but I think, there is a ISrael-Russia agreement for Russia not to use missiles against Israel planes (have you notice that Netanyahu has gone to Russia several times to talk directly with Putin ? ). The only nation that can stop Istael is Russia. So, it is up to Russia if he wants to stop Israel.

    To hell with Israeli jets.

  • Why did Syria bomb that plane?
This will give Israel a perfect excuse to invade Syria now.
Media will manipulate the news and call Assad a terrorist.
Syria should have shown more patience.
Israel wanted Syria to attack IAF from the very beginning so that they may have a excuse of attacking Syria now.
They will probably claim that Syria has become a rogue state and it needs to be put down when in reality Syria was only protecting itself.

  • abel_kotze

Hezbollah, PMU and Syrian forces are saving their air defenses for the next Israeli invasion. Then you will see see jets fall like flies!!!

  • Nigel Maund

It’s way past time the IAF realised that it cannot act in complete transgression of International Law and launch missiles at a Sovereign State (Syria) which is engaged in ridding its country of terrorists that Israel has had a big hand in financing and supplying. If the SAA now engage the IAF aircraft with the S200 or, better still, the S300 system, Pantsirs or Manpad equivalents and shoot down several aricraft they should not be surprised or disappointed; they have been warned . They may realise that there are limitations to their power in the Middle East and they may have to negotiate from a position of growing weakness. However, we all understand that Zionists prefer violence and a “final solution” to diplomacy and negotiation. If they (the Israeli’s) do come to the table and negotiate a peaceful solution I will be totally amazed!!…………Please pass me the smelling salts!

  • DJ Double D

‘Unlike what the main stream media and Israel media claims, Russia never announced that it will ban the IAF from striking the Syrian Arab Army (SAA)’ – why not. It doesn’t make any practical sense that Russia will continue to allow Syrian assets be destroyed that easy and on some occasions, Russian servicemen were also killed. Southfront argument doesn’t sound convincing at all. If Russia doesn’t want to attach her name in any counter action against these raids, then simply attach Syrian name to it. Tell the world that Syria now has these capabilities having purchased them from Russia.

    • John Whitehot

So Russian servicemen were killed by Israeli action?
      Where and when?

  • John Whitehot

  • Manuel Flores Escobar

no significant damage..surely Pantsir s1 destroyed many israeli air to air missile!

  • RichardD

If this report is true. Then it means that the Syrian air defense system has been brought to a level of capability that it is able to deal with Israeli efforts to shut it down. The Russians don’t need to engage Israeli targets when the Syrians can do it themselves. And with Russian airspace tracking capabilities. They’re of necessity watching all non Syrian government air activity, including Israeli, closely.

As a practical matter. I’m sure that the Russian and Syrian air defense systems are integrated. And even if Russian controlled weapons aren’t being used to shoot at IAF planes. They are providing tracking and targeting capability. And for the Israelis to shut down Syrian air defense systems they’d have to shut down Russian systems as well. Which would mean directly engaging a conventional and nuclear superior adversary, which could lead to an escalation that could quickly do a lot of damage to the IDF.

Their exist nothing in all of Russian arsenal that can scratch the paint of even a single Israeli plane.
Since they are F-15’s, that means that Russian equipment is useless against NATO asset’s haha.
So LAME, looser engineers in Russia must eat vodka cause their equipment is useless against 1980’s or newer US technology.

Publicaly, the isaerli claims they attacked masyaf because of alleged chemical weapons at the site.

Which we all know is false.

Now we see it was chosen because it was right next to russia’s S-400. It was to send russia a message, israeli cruise missiles can penetrate and take out the S-400. If russia doesnt bow to israelis wishes for syria then israel will attack russia.

    • Tudor Miron

Than Israel will attack Russia? Let them try – that’s the shortest way to end the ugly story about Israel state.

This wasn’t an attemt to shoot the planes down – it was a message. Let’s wait and see what happens next.

    • gustavo

Syria must stop sending messages. This is not a game, its country has been destroyed by Israel puppets.

  • yrral01

Why is Syria firing missiles over Lebanon? That’s as bad as Israel flying over Lebanon. Where did the missile land? On Lebanon’s territory? They spent years under Syrian occupation.

    • Wahid Algiers

Do you accept drawn borders of colonialists? Lebanon is a part of Syria.

  • gustavo

I want to point out that the Israel attack to SSCR facilty could only be made with Russia authorization since S-400 are not so far away this facility. RUSSIA AUTHORIZATION !

    • RichardD

They didn’t hit the S400s and no IDF jets were over Syria. The S200 over Lebanon is a shot across the bow to the Israelis putting them on notice that their belligerence is being rolled back one step at a time. And if they keep it up their planes are going to be taken down when they’re violating somebody else’s sovereign airspace without their permission.

  • Rick0Shea

I believe it was Jim Dean from the Veterans Today’s web site who reported that Israel has moved its anti missile ‘defence’ system right up against Syria’s border so it can be used offensively – when Israel jets attack targets in Syria and Syria launches anti aircraft missiles, Israel intercepts them with their Iron Dome system.

    • RichardD

It was Duff not Dean. And Iron dome didn’t do any good against the S200 launch over Lebanon if it really did happen.

      • Kell

Iron dome is basically fireworks for the benifit of the israeli public during attacks, totally ineffective but puts an impressive sky display for their population to keep them in fear and to make it look like something is being done.

  • RichardD

My guess is that the Israelis have been told to stay out of Syrian airspace or else. And that now they’ve been told the same thing about Lebanon. It’s one thing for an IDF jet to be brought down over Lebanon, it’s a much more serious matter if it’s brought down over Israel.

It doesn’t look like the Jordanians are allowing IDF over flights, at least not for offensive activity against Syria. The same probably holds true for Iraq and Turkey. Which leaves attacks from Israel or from the sea over Lebanon. Which are both within range of Syrian government coalition air defenses.

  • ALTERNATE HISTORY

It’s about time to keep the IAF out of Lebanon and Syria.

  • Rob

Russia never announced that it will ban the IAF from striking the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). However, Israel are US ally and not of Russia.

How many servicemen of Russia and their allies have killed in Syria are due to Israeli intelligence.

  • dutchnational

Well, one could ask what a Syrian missile placement is doing in the independent state of Lebanon, a state that has in the past required all Syrian troops and installations to be removed after Syrian government murdered their president.

    Just saying.

    • dutchnational

      As expected no replies.

Assadophyles having no problems Syria commmitting the same “crimes” they accuse Israel of.

I think Lebanon would have rejoiced if that missile would have hit an F15. Israel is violating Lebanese airspace without permission.
