Syria's Warplanes Conduct Air Strikes in Northern Homs Indicating Ground Assault

AlMasdarNews reports: The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) is lighting up the northern countryside of the Homs Governorate with relentless airstrikes that are targeting Jabhat Al-Nusra’s (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) positions in the Al-Houla and Al-Rastan plains.

On Friday night and early Saturday morning, the Syrian Air Force conducted over 25 airstrikes above Al-Houla and Al-Rastan, hitting several Jihadist targets near the Orontes River and Hama Governorate border.

The frequency of these airstrikes is due to the recent Syrian Arab Army (SAA) initiative to attack the Jihadist positions in northern Homs and retake the southern bank of the Orontes River that separates the Hama-Homs borders.
