Swarm Attack: Saudi-led Coalition Intercept Four Drones Launched By Yemen’s Houthis

The Saud-led coalition announced on February 7 that its air-defense forces had intercepted four suicide drones which were launched by the Houthis (Ansar Allah) from Yemen.

The first drone was intercepted by the coalition’s air-defense means in the morning. The remaining three were downed in the evening hours.

In a statement, Colonel Turki Al-Malki, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, claimed that the drones were launched at civilian targets in the Kingdom.

“A total of four bomb-laden UAVs launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Southern Region have been destroyed today,” the spokesman said in the statement. “The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will continue to undertake all necessary procedures to neutralize and destroy the Advanced Conventional Weapons capabilities of the terrorist militia in accordance with the customary International Humanitarian Law.”

The Houthis are yet to comment on the coalition’s claims. The Yemen group usually uses locally-made copies of Iranian suicide drones, like the Ababil-2.

The Saudi-led coalition’s claims came following a decision by US President Joe Biden to end all support for the war on Yemen. Furthermore, Washington is now preparing to drop the Houthis’ terrorist designation.

The Houthis launch drone and missile attacks at Saudi Arabia and its proxies in response to the continuous strikes and siege on Yemen. The group will likely back down, if the Saudi-led coalition ceases its attacks.

Wouldn’t be surprising if the Ziowahabbi Iron Dome went operational in the Gulf monarchies in less than a few weeks, US taxpayers crowdfund the Ziocorporate war profiteering machine’s operations after all.

Frank

Iron DUD can not even stop WW2 era grads from Gaza let alone modern low flying NOE drones and loitering munitions. The Saudis look ridiculously weak when 10,000 US and other puppet NATO forces can not even defend their capital.

Frank

Let’s be Frank, it is not looking very inspiring when a failed state like corrupt Saudis spending over $60 billion a year on weapons and a paper bag military can not even defend their capital as drones and missiles come a calling every day now.

Ashok Varma

At $73.2 billion last year, the Saudis had a bigger defence budget than India or Russia in real terms, and they still can not defend their capital and are being thrashed by khat chewing teenagers in rubber thongs. What a glaring indictment of humiliating incompetence.

Just Me

If you look at the latest map, the Ansallah control almost all the populated areas of Yemen and are knocking at the gates of Aden, which will fall soon. No wonder even the dumb Americans recognize that and lifted the absurd designations. Today, the Ansarallah also displayed a new air defence system which looks very much like the Iranian Khordad 15. That is reason the Saudi planes are having a hard time even killing Yemeni women and children.comment image

Condor

Saudis are looking very vulnerable. Sooner or later they will be hit with swarms of loitering munitions at different locations and no interception system will work.

Saudi military sources are NOT reliable…thats why people in Saudi Arabia are not allowed no post videos of damage, drones or missile hitting ground, explosions on ground or fires.

Potato Man

“Swarm attack”…I don’t think four drones would be consider as “swarm attack” tho…

Ashok Varma

The Ansarallah should send at least a dozen drones at multiple targets to overwhelm any interception system, like the successful strike at the oil refinery previously.

Especially spaced 12hrs apart :-)
Only three drones in the evening attack.
