The Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies deployed more troops and heavy weapons at their positions south of the strategic city of al-Hudaydah on the western Yemeni coast on September 19 and 20, according to media center of the UAE-backed Giants Brigades.
The heavy weapons, which were deployed by the Saudi-led coalition, included AMX Leclerc main battle tanks, G6 Rhino 155mm self-propelled howitzers, Oshkosh Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicles, BAE Caiman Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and AJBAN 440A armored vehicles.
These reinforcements are likely a part of the Saudi-led coalition preparations to launch a new offensive on al-Hudaydah. The city’s port is one of the key logistical hubs of the Houthis.
Earlier this month, the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies launched a surprise attack on the district center of al-Durayhimi and the area of “Kilo16” south of al-Hudaydah. However, the Houthis managed to repel the attack within ten days.
