The Israeli military had wiped out the Syrian air-defense base responsible for the April 22 missile incident, new satellite images revealed.

The base, which is located near the town of al-Dumayr around 35 km to the east of the capital, launched an S-200 anti-aircraft missile at Israeli warplanes that were going to launch airstrikes on the outskirts of Damascus early on April 22.

The Syrian missile missed its target but went on to land some 250 km deep in Israel, 40 km away from the Dimona nuclear reactor. The Israeli military attempted to intercept the missile. However, it ultimately failed. The advanced Israeli Arrow anti-missile system was blamed.

Satellite images released by the Aurora Intel account on Twitter revealed that the al-Dumayr base had been completely wiped out as a result of Israel’s retaliatory strikes.

The fairly large base used to host a complete Soviet-made S-200 long-range air-defense system as well as other high-value air-defense equipment.

Israel’s retaliatory strikes wounded four Syrian service members, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency. Pro-government sources also revealed that an air-defense officer, 1st Lt. Bassel Khadur, was killed in the strikes.

The April 22 missile incident highlighted some real flows in Israel’s state-of-the-art, multi-tiered air-defense network. Many sources believe that what happened was not the result of chance.

That’s what you get for trying to hit our planes and help Iran, Syria would be smart to kick out the iranians. If not, we will keep bombing them and wipe out their bases. Don’t F with us.

    1. Emad Irani says:

They will not, as soon as Iran get out Syria will be another failed state :)

Iran is there to stay, and some Soviet S200 old 1960s systems can be replaced by better reliable systems. although Israhell gained nothing from 2011 until now in Syria hahaha

      1. zman says:

You just know Lyin Zion was under his bed wetting himself after he heard the boom. Too funny. What are the imposters from Kazaria going to do when it’s not just 1 (supposed) AD errant missile? I don’t think it was an S-200 at all, I think it was a surface-to-surface that was to send a message. All the videos from Dimona area seem to have disappeared. No pix of impact either. Hmmm, wonder why? I mean if there’s nothing to see…Other sources say it was a ballistic Tashrin or Fatah-110. All I’ve seen is bits of remains, which if there were more/better pix of, the true type of missile could be determined. Go to Haaretz and read the mass stupidity from Israelis…they are believing their own lies, the stupid fools. They truly believe a S-200 flew to it’s max range, blew itself up, created the loudest bang Israelis ever heard (their words), shook buildings many miles away (again, their words)…all after easily evading their vaunted AD (you know, designed expressly for this)…while traversing the ENTIRE length of Israel. Never mind that NO sirens sounded until it got to Dimona area, never mind Israelis did not get their text message until AFTER the missile exploded. The stupid Israelis even blame Syria for their own aggression. What do they think would happen if this were a volley, not a single missile. I suppose they would believe their excellent systems could stop many, just not one? Who’s shitting who here? The real kicker is the reality that the Israeli government is lying through their teeth to them and most are too stupid to know it. They are terrified should the truth come out that their AD is truly shit, no better than the crap the Houthi’s are getting the best of and that’s the real reason they want Iran’s missile systems in negotiations. They keep blathering about nukes…but they ALWAYS come back to Iran’s missiles.

I’d say that Syria/Iran just sent the squatters a message…the only kind they understand and listen to (if they’re smart). Now, I’m sure we’ll all hear about their Samson option from the troll brigade…but, likely it would be just as effective as Israeli AD.

        1. Emad Irani says:

From one of my responses here on SF: “Operational range of S200 is 300 kilometers, after that the
self-destruction system of the missile will lead to an explosion no
matter what happen. Because of the old age of SA-5 this system sometimes
doesn’t work and the missile will fly a straight parabolic flight route
and land somewhere. After burn-out and system failing it can fly beyond
300 kilometers because of the specific impulse”

I don’t care what some zionists hasbara are saying, I care only about facts and technology or mechanic. No matter what is was, Soviet S200 missile (SA-5) or Fateh 300 or another ballistic missile. The thing is beyond that: Failing of Israhelli Air Defense Systems and the holes of Israhelli air which is covered by Systems like Barak-8, Davids Sling, Arrow-2 and Patriot PAC-2 or -3.

Actually this is big that a 1960s era missile without any high evasive maneuvers through the terminal phase…

          1. Jim Allen says:

These aren’t the same missiles from the 1960’s, you know.

      2. Jim Allen says:

Those S-200’s, and Panstir are responsible for rendering these IAF attacks into Syria ineffective since the war began. That’s shooting down the incoming weapons. S-200 is old, but funny thing about Russian military hardware, it’s infinitely upgradable. There are plenty of examples including a strike on an IAF F-35 by S-200 which isn’t able to see stealth aircraft. Shot down an
F-16 just prior to that. IAF F-16 had to duck inside a Russian Il surveillance plane’s radar signature to avoid an
S-200, that was landing at the time. Shooting it down, and really pissing off MoD Shoigu.
Maybe IAF has come up with some EW, hard to tell,as Syrian Air Defense Forces just resumed targeting aircraft again.
SAA has a growing inventory of Air Defense systems, and a couple dozen MiG-29SMT with Russian trained Syrian pilots. The upgraded MiG’s easily match, or are superior to the best the West has.
Maybe BiBi should see about an S-400.
Western military technology doesn’t really upgrade too good.
Remember MiG-21 is still in service. Now that’s ancient.

        1. Matt Fallson says:

Injured Syrian soldiers and a dead officer is not “ineffective”, nor is the Russian open door for another country to bomb a sovereign country, unless you bend over backwards to justify it.

          1. Jim Allen says:

Hey, it is war, dumbass. People get killed in war, munitions don’t always perform.
But armchair generals offer up their big uninformed opinions on many things they know nothing about.
In this case a particular missile defense system.
Yes, IAF with it’s silly ass pinprick attacks on Syria are ineffective. The pretenders make a lot of noise about their attacks made from Lebanese airspace, but the after-action reports show a high percentage of the munitions fail to reach their targets. Night, after night, after night.
That performance is what is called “ineffective.” German Stuka pilots did better.
This has nothing to do with Russia, beyond the fact Syria buys Russian military technology. Russia keeps it upgraded.
Whatever the Hell you’re on about has nothing to do with this subject.

    2. MikeH says:

Israel and the cabal fomented the civil war and was attacking Syria prior to Iran supporting Syria. If the Iranians leave, would Israel stop bombing and supporting head choppers? I very much doubt that.

      1. zman says:

Explain that to retards who believe if Iran leaves, Syria will be at peace. Then there are the other retards who want Assad gone. Without either or both Syria would have to change it’s name to Greater Golan. Personally, I think they are too stupid to breathe if they believe that. All those evil people will just go away and Israel will be friends. In a pigs eye.

      2. Steve Standley says:

      3. <> says:

YES WE WOULD. The only reason we keep the strikes is because Iran is building military power in Syria right next to us and we can not accept it. Israeli officials already said it too.

this is why you attacked Syria in 2007?

        2. jaimeintexas says:

Nope. The reason is that Israel wants to keep Syria in turmoil, regardless how many Syrian lives it costs. And does it because these USA is Israel ‘s backstop.
I guess you think that Iran will not leave Syria, that Syria will not ask Iran to leave, once Syria regain their territorial integrity.

They will leave in the end – dead or alive. But they will leave.

    3. The Objective says:

I don’t believe this was accidental fire towards the Dimona nuclear reactor. How far is that base from Israeli borders? at least 100 km I guess. Add that to 250 km (penetration of Israeli territory) and you get 350 km. S-200 do not fire a missile of that range. This was a different missile and was no accident. That’s why Israel reacted so strongly. This isn’t the first time that Syria is launching missiles at Israeli planes, neither is it the first time that a Syrian projectile lands on Israeli soil. Why did Israel not react so harshly in past incidents? this one must be kind of different.

    8. Ulli says:

Actually I agree with Iron Zion. Irans provocations and missle buildup complicate everything in Syria. This fight makes no sense at all. How many resources of Iran are wasted in this pointless struggle. After the de facto victory of the SAA, Russia,Iran & Hisbollah in the bloody civil war it was a good moment to deesclate in rethoric as well as military actions. But chance missed. And one other thing you can clearly see: This air strikes have nothing to do with Syria! I know thankfullness is very important in this world today. But to allow Iran this military buildup in Syria is not the right way. Iran too has to think about the consequences it causes for Syria and Russia with its policy.

      1. zman says:

What the F have you been drinking? Have the terrorists been eliminated yet? Has Israel stopped attacking the SAA? Are they still providing materiel support for the headchoppers? Have the US/Kuntz/Turds stopped stealing Syrian assets/burning crops? Where do you get the idea that deescalation is up to the Syrians? They didn’t attack their own country…and it is NOT a civil war. Russia and Iran are there because they know that after Syria, they’re next.

        1. Ulli says:

Look most problems in Syria would disappear, if Iran would stop to fill bunkers with missles there. I can only advise Iran to sent their diplomats to a meeting with the Israeli side and negotiate something before this situation goes totally out of hand. Iran behaves imo as stupid as Sakaschwili, Pashinyan and Selenskyj. But the last three acted on behalf of their Democrat masters in US, Iran is more guilty, because they do it on their own.

          1. Rafik Chauhan says:

Good people doesnt negotiate with Devil who destroy and occupy Human and thier land. As god doesnt negotiate with Satan. The day Israel goes back to 1948 land and all the settler go back from where the came . Then may be its possible peace . otherwise no Mercy with the cannibal devil

          3. zman says:

Absolutely delusional. Either that or a Turk fan boy/zionist troll. Before Iran ever joined the fight in Syria, Israel was attacking both. They have been attacking their neighbors unabashedly for years. You talk about negotiations? Really? After Israeli Trojan Horse Trump ditching the JCPOA for Israel? Listen for 2 seconds to either Gantz or Nutsack..do they sound like they want anything but war? That time is past, long past. Israel seeks to attack Iran at every turn and you blather this horseshit that all would be well if Iran minded it’s own business? More absolute crap. Israel’s ONLY game is to divide the resistance and conquer. When did Lebanon or Iran (not to mention Yemen) ever attack Israel? How many times have Israel attacked Iran, not to mention nearly every neighbor they have, in one way or another? How often does Israel violate Lebanese airspace? Daily and at will? The only thing that needs to disappear to end confrontations is Israel. I notice that your brothers in arms upclicked your comment…at least you guys are all on duty, eh?

    1. The Objective says:

The Muslims killing each other are the bad ones and their death is cleansing our religion of the bad eggs. The smart ones are in Ankara, Islamabad, and Doha. Those are the ones you should be worrying about, not ISIS. Things will only get hotter until a day comes that this fact stares you in the face.

  6. The Objective says:

Good news. Weakening Assad further and adding the bill for Russia. They need to build that base back, probably with better anti-aircraft systems such as the S-300 or S-400 which Russia has so far refused to allow Syria use. Russia fears that the S-300 and S-400 would probably be disgraced by Israeli pilots and its market destroyed.

S-200 does not fire missiles that can penetrate “250 km” into Israel. That’ll put the missile range above 300 km from the base, and the fact is that the S-200 do not fire such missiles. This was a different missile and was not fired accidentally at Israel. The strong Israeli reaction only goes to highlight this fact.

Good luck fighting for the next ten years Mr. Assad.

    1. Emad Irani says:

After burn-out the SA-5 missile can fly its parabolic flight route and land somewhere in the city or desert. It is not impossible. Israhelli “harsh” reaction was only against some S200 Systems, means it was the missile. Beside that leaked photos showed Russian letters and words on missile debris

      1. The Objective says:

what is the range of missiles fired by the S-200 and how far is the base from Israel’s border? If you can satisfactorily answer these questions with proof, I’ll agree.

        1. Emad Irani says:

Operational range of S200 is 300 kilometers, after that the self-destruction system of the missile will lead to an explosion no matter what happen. Because of the old age of SA-5 this system sometimes doesn’t work and the missile will fly a straight parabolic flight route and land somewhere. After burn-out and system failing it can fly beyond 300 kilometers because of the specific impulse.
Based on your comments, I came to the conclusion you don’t know too much about military and policy stuff

          1. Anduin Lothar says:

That self-destruct system is called selflliquidator. ;)

          2. The Objective says:

“Based on your comments, I came to the conclusion you don’t know too much about military and policy stuff”
I’m no expert in this field and never claimed to be one. What I use is common sense.
You should have answered all the questions I posed in that comment before making the statement qouted above.

Missile range is max. 300 km. I knew that before reaching my conclusion.

Now tell me how far from the Israeli border is this Syrian airbase from which the missile was launched. Then we’ll do the maths.

          3. Emad Irani says:

it is just a little bit more than 300km, so small that it hadn’t any influence on my calculations. Because just like I said, the flying missile is still flying even after burn-out because of the specific impulse (!). Even without aerodynamic maneuvers or evasive maneuvers it could easily fly beyond 300km and land somewhere in the nowhere, sea, desert or populated city.
In 2019 the same missile landed in Cyprus.
If you can do the basic calculations it is not that difficult for the first simple results.
“I’m no expert in this field and never claimed to be one. What I use is common sense.” then you cannot give an exact answer because “common sense” alone is too little to be serious.

For doing exact calculations you need things like stage diameter(s), missile mass and its payload, missile length, specific impulse of the stages propulsion system, mass of missile with and without fuel, propellant, efficiency of the propulsion, efficiency of the nozzle, etc. … now time for doing the math. Good luck and give me your answers I will compare to my one

          4. The Objective says:

You still haven’t answered my question though. All this physics and mathematical assumptions isn’t necessary if we can know the exact or approximate distance of this Syrian airbase from the Israeli border. It could be 200, 300, 400 km, etc. from Israel. Then we add the 250 km penetration of Israel to this range, ignoring all the maneuvers and assuming the distance to be horizontally straight. Even at that, I’m pretty confident we’ll be talking of a 500+ km distance, because Syria cannot station such a strategically important base so close to the Israeli border.

You still have to tell me how far this Syrian base is from the Israeli border before your argument can hold.

          5. Willing Conscience (The Truths says:

The missile was launched from a Syrian airbase located just a few km southeast of Ad Dumayr, and the distance between the Syrian airbase and the nuclear facility in Israel is 317 km, but the missile fell 30 to 40 km short of the nuclear facility, so the missile travel distance would’ve been somewhere between 275 and 285km, well within the stated maximum range.
The flight trajectory would’ve also included travel over Jordanian airspace and the dead sea, which may have been a factor in Israelis failure to intercept the missile.
And concerning it being anything other than a S-200 missile, this is what the Israelis think.

“Addressing the likelihood of a Syrian anti-aircraft missile overshooting its target and flying a long distance into Israel, Uzi Rubin, an Israeli missile expert, said the scenario was “consistent with the characteristics” of an SA-5.

“The trajectory of a stray anti-aircraft missile on an unintended descent is very tricky to track,” he told Reuters.

“Israel’s air defence systems are in theory capable of carrying out such an interception with proper preparation, but it would be at the edge of the capability envelope”.

          6. Emad Irani says:

thanks, I forgot to mention the 30km distance of impact and Dimona facility, then it would even fit his childish “common sense” concept (if a missile has an operational range of 300km it can only fly 300km and land somewhere at 300km, not more…)

      2. Rhodium 10 says:

Israel dont show debris of the SA-5 which cause a big hole if it hit ground or a big debris if it explode on air…some Iranian sources have told about a drone vs Dimona..

    2. Lone Ranger says:

      Hi Shlomo…

    3. AJ says:

The only disgrace I see is the failure to shoot down a 50 yr old missile by Israel.

      1. zman says:

And the Israeli’s are ignoring that for all they’re worth. They do not want the sheeple there to focus on that.

  7. Blas de Lezo says:

LOL. Those two IAF aircraft look really good. Why would Biden have an issue with Southfront.

  8. swedish_viking says:

No one can make out anything of that low resolution images.

  9. Rhodium 10 says:

Aurora Intel satellite photos has less reliability than Navalny working as a real estate agent in Gelendzhik!…by the way Israel have attacked many times S-200 base in Al Dumayr and always the base are operational….

    1. Lone Ranger says:

Nuttibubu can destroy the same launcher 12times in a row.
Either he is lying or they are shooting at holograms…

  10. Lone Ranger says:

More pixel BS from the Shlomo Disney devision…

  11. ELPuerco says:

Exclusive/Confirmed: Powerful Syrian surface to surface missile hits near Dimona nuclear weapons plant
    – The “Dimona Fajr” missile was fired by wise hands and very cold minds, and deposited it in a very delicate environment, from a highly studied area, which no one will understand and realize like the “Israeli” !! ..
Israel has ordered its assets, beginning with Google, to erase evidence of these events, this attack and the one previous, and evidence of the utter failure of their air defenses.

    Good read!..

    1. Pave Way IV says:

The Dimona Nuclear Site is the most worthless, unlikely of sites for Syria to target. It’s always used as misdirection by the MSM because ‘nuclear’ – that’s all people will remember.

Israel’s huge Nevatim AB is 20km north of the Dimona site. That’s the one with the IAF F-16s, F-35s and their latest ISR aircraft. If you were expecting to spoof the U.S. and Israeli radars and get a ballistic missile through, you would probably want to hit the air base – where the jets are coming from that are bombing you. Hitting Dimona and spreading around nuclear waste isn’t likely to win you any friends and it wouldn’t ‘take out’ Israels’ nuclear weapons stockpiles. Israel sure doesn’t want its citizens to think Nevatim is vulnerable or was hit. Claiming a ‘Dimona’ target demonizes Syria and deflects the inability of layers of their air defense to stop a ballistic missile. And didn’t Syria threaten to strike the air bases of aircraft attacking Syria a while back?

      1. Dicksonrp says:

Correct with the promised retaliation but Pootin forbade it against isrealhell. Chickenshit Satanyahoo is Pootin God.

      2. Daniel Rich says:

        @ Pave Way IV,

Dimona‘ is a trigger word for jews. It’s on par with the holocasut hoax and ‘They’re all out there to get us‘ angst.

You’re absolutely right about Dimona not being the right target at all. I’m sure Hezbollah has completely different targets on their white list :o]

      3. Free man says:

What you have written may make sense.
The basic mistake is that Syria, in its current state, cannot threaten Israel. Like Liechtenstein can not threaten France.

  12. Gaijin says:

Too late too little. Dimona in Israel is by far the most strategic asset in the Middle East, followed by the oil facilities of Buqayq and Khurais in Saudi Arabia. Iran being able to demonstrate its capacity to hit both targets in little over two years is a warning sign for all regional powers.

  13. angrycitizen says:

And how many times has Israel bombed this air defense site? Seems like it stays operational despite all that bombing.

  14. Ivanus59 says:

The tittle is flawed since Israel is actually responsible for all violence between Syria and occupied Palestine since Israeli terrorist regime is the one constantly attacking Syria.

  15. Assad must stay says:

impossible to tell what is in that gif/pic, is there confirmation by syrian govt? syria should have put dimona out of commission for good lol

    1. Voldemort says:

with a stray air defense missile?

    2. Matt Fallson says:

“Israel’s retaliatory strikes wounded four Syrian service members, per the Syrian Arab News Agency. Pro-government sources also revealed that an air-defense officer, 1st Lt. Bassel Khadur, was killed in the strikes.”

  16. Zyklon B says:

This image aint shit, it could be ground features that are white for all we know. There’s no discernable building ruins or anything. Southfront, dont publicize jewish bullshit!

  17. cechas vodobenikov says:

Israel more and more desperate—when US empire soon dies, everything will change for US colony

    1. Fog of War says:

Israhell is a Rothschild project and It will go on as long as they see fit.

      1. farbat says:

rothshilds are a bunch of parasites who will be purged just as the whole bunch of them will be annihilated

        1. Fog of War says:

Please inform us how because so far even nations have been afraid to confront them.

  18. chris chuba says:

The S200 looks massive and its an older system. The S300 is more mobile, correct? The idea of having large fixed bases is not going to work well in that neighborhood. They need to move things around, at least a little bit.

  19. Fog of War says:

People who claim this attack was fake need to ask themselves why the SAA would announce its casualties afterwards.

  20. Dicksonrp says:

And the Russian stooge, Pootin, bowed down once again as he slurped Chickenshit Satanyahoo arse once again and begged forgiveness. What an ally does Syria have in Pootin. Assad needs to move closer to Iran as they are more dependable

  21. Brother Ma says:

Do we care if it was a drone, ground to ground missile or s200. I don’t ! Two of them got to Dimona and that is all that matters.

It was so embarrassing that Israel had to lie and say it was a explosion- exercise done by contractors and it was preplanned The videos of the mushroom clouds still got out and they had to walk -back the story.

A self destructing S200 that somehow was lost and missed the airbase is Not cause for bombing the crap out of the S200 airbase in Syria. After all it was an off -track S200 ,right… Bullshit! This has got Israel really worried and s ares the hell out of them.

Someone just proved to Israel that they can take out those nukes ANYTIME THEY WANT.

You don’t think that is why the US and Ukraine pulled back a day or two ago , do you?

  22. farbat says:

syria needs much more deterrance and i dont think s200 matter here if they have enough striking power than the zionists can do as they please they would be hit in return anyway but syria right now is still very insecure about its own territorial intergrity which is why the zionists can do as they please but this will have great repercussions for them since syria isnt a far away place they dont need to worry about in future but right infront of them

  23. Mario8282 says:

The mystery just deepens: why doesn’t Russia secure the Syrian airspace?

    1. farbat says:

this doesnt fix it anymore the zionists need to get a response they couldnt even dream about in their wildest nightmares

    2. farbat says:

every single strike they made against syria should be one missile per day fired

    3. farbat says:

how many missiles would that be 300 or more doesnt matter they should be showered badly with missiles for a while to make sure their capabilities to sustain such a terrorism are absolutely nulled
