The S-200 (NATO reporting name: SA-5 Gammon) is a Soviet very long range, medium-to-high altitude surface-to-air missile system. It was designed in the 1960s and since then have been widely ussed in several conflicts. Each S-200 battalion has 6 single-rail missile launchers and a fire control radar. It can be linked to other, longer-range radar systems.
The Syrian Air Defense Forces actively use S-200 missile defense systems as well as other Soviet and Russian weapons in their regular confrontations with the Israeli military. In February 2016, an S-200 missile shot down an Israeli F-16I fighter jet involved in strikes on targets in Syria.
