For the second day in a row, Russian warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on terrorists’ positions in different parts of Greater Idlib.

Opposition sources reported on October 17 that the airstrikes targeted the towns of Kafar Sijnah and Rakaya Sijneh in southern Idlib as well as the town of Kabani and its outskirt in northern Lattakia. The three towns are controlled by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the former branch of al-Qaeda in Syria, and several other terrorist groups.

The results of the airstrikes are yet to be revealed. Idlib terrorists are well-known for hiding their losses in order to keep the morale of their supporters high.

The airstrikes were likely carried out in response to violations of Greater Idlib ceasefire. Nevertheless, pro-government activists are reporting that the Syrian Arab Army is preparing to launch a new ground operation in the region.
