On April 19, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the new stage of the Russian military operation in Ukraine aimed at the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk Peoples’ Republics had begun. In his turn, spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov claimed that the special operation is going according to the plan.
Traditionally, Russian high-precision missiles hit a number of Ukrainian military facilities throughout the country at night. This time, the main targets were located along the main front lines in the Donbass region and in the south of Ukraine, in the Nikolaev region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, 13 strongholds of the AFU were destroyed with high-precision air-based missiles in the areas of Slavyansk, Barvenkovo and Popasnaya. The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) hit 60 military assets of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense published a video of Russian Su-34 striking AFU military equipment with high-precision X-29 air—to-surface missiles.
2 depots of Tochka-U missile warheads were destroyed near Chervonaya Polyana and Balakleya. 3 command posts of the AFU as well as 53 areas of manpower and military equipment concentration were also hit.
As a result of attacks by the Russian missile and artillery units, the following targets were destroyed:
- 25 command posts of Ukrainian units near Nikolaev, Kirovsk;
- 2 missile and artillery weapons depots near Voskresensk and Nikolaev;
- 2 Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile launchers near Gulyai Pole and Nikolaevka II,
- 1,214 areas of manpower concentrations.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet was shot down near Malinovka in the Donetsk Region. 4 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed near the villages of Mar’inka, Kamenka, Semenovka and Sinichino.
In turn, Ukrainian forces resumed shelling on the Russian border regions.
Early on April 19, the village of Golovkino in the Russian Belgorod region was shelled. Three civilians were injured, and about 30 houses were damaged. According to local residents, their houses were hit by cluster munitions.
According to the head of the region, the gas pipeline and power line were damaged by the AFU strike, but they will be restored in the coming hours.
Moscow has already warned that attacks on civilians on the Russian territory will be followed by the strikes on the Ukrainian decision-making center in Kiev.
