President Vladimir Putin has ordered surprise combat readiness inspection of the command and control organizations and arsenals of the Russian Armed Forces to check the Russian military’s readiness to quickly mobilize its forces. The military drills will affect all the military districts of the country and will last for a week, the Russian Defense Ministry press service reported.

Russia’s Defense Minister, Sergey Shoigu said that the military drills will focus “on the combat readiness condition objectives” and the command and control organizations’ capability to fulfill the set tasks, including in the sphere of mobilization.

The Russian military snapcheck started on Tuesday amid the reports that the second US aircraft carrier entered the Mediterranean Sea.
