Russian helicopters raid ISIS positions in eastern Palmyra

AlMasdarNews reports: Following the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) strategic withdrawal from the T3-Airbase and Arak in eastern Palmyra, both ISIS-held sites and their surrounding areas have once again become the target of Russian warplanes.

With SAA reconnaissance units currently re-stationed near the sawmills and al-Talilah crossroad east of Palmyra, government troops are looking to the Russian Airforce to propel their advance into the vast oil-rich Islamic State areas of eastern Syria.

In a cunning military move, Russia seems to be attempting to lure ISIS into open desert terrain where they are left vulnerable to the fearsome MI-28 helicopters:
