Russian forces received over 600 new weapon systems in April-June 2018, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said speaking at the single military output acceptance day on July 20.
“Over this period, defense enterprises delivered over 600 new items of armament, military and special hardware to the troops,” Shoigu said according to the state-run media.
The defense minister pointed out that the Russian military received 11 planes of various classes and designation, five helicopters, 36 radar stations of various modifications and three warships, including the Project 18280 medium reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs and the Project 21631 missile corvette Vyshny Volochyok.
According to Shoigu, most of the advanced weapon systems “will be demonstrated at the Army-2018 international military and technical forum where everyone who wishes so will be able to get acquainted with their technical and combat capabilities.”
He revealed that defense contractors built 1,281 buildings and structures in the first half of 2018. The number of finished buildings and structures doubled in comparison to the previous year.
“Special attention is paid to building facilities for the three-component strike grouping of the nuclear containment forces. A total of 219 buildings and structures of the Navy, the Space Troops and the Strategic Missile Force have been put into operation since the beginning of the year,” the defense minister said.
A total of 3,573 buildings and structures of the Russian military will be put into operation in 2018.
Additionally, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko noted that the Russian Navy had received 49 Kalibr cruise missiles and four anti-ship missiles in the first half of 2018.
