Russia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin “died suddenly” in New York, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.
“A prominent Russian diplomat has passed away while at work. We’d like to express our sincere condolences to Vitaly Churkin’s family,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
No further details are now available.
Churkin has served as Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations since 2006.
