A prototype of the Orlan wing-in-ground-effect craft armed with missiles will be developed in Russia under the state armament program through 2027, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said on July 31.

“The state armament program for 2018-2027 includes the Orlan R&D work, which stipulates the construction of the wing-in-ground-effect craft. The prototype will be created as part of this armament program and it will carry missile armament,” Borisov said adding that it will be used to protect the Northern Sea Route where infrastructure is allegedly weakly protected.

Borisov claimed  that the wing-in-ground-effect craft could be operated as a patrol vehicle to rescue ship crews.

Russia and China can develop anything they want because their economy is strong.

Actually the US with their reserve currency status and swift system administrative power is strong enough to built anything. They’re just overly corrupt, greedy, and fascist to go anywhere.

Yes, but it would take them 3 times as long because total corruption takes time to milk the (cash) cow.

    Very interesting.

Vessels of this type are good in calm seas, but wouldn’t function on a good day in the southern ocean.
