Russia Deployed S-300V4 Advanced Anti-Ballistic Missile System to Syria - Reports

The US Fox News TV channel has reported, citing military sources, that Russia had deployed the S-300V4 “Antey-2500” anti-ballistic missile system in Syria. S-300V4 is an upgraded version of S-300.

It’s designed to defeat short- and medium-range ballistic missile, aeroballistic and cruise missiles, fixed-wing aircraft, as well as loitering ECM platforms and precision-guided munitions. The system has a range of about 400 km.

According to Fox News, it was delivered to the Russian naval facility in Tartus via the sea. In 2015, Moscow deployed the S-300 long range surface-to-air missile system after the incident with downing of Russia’s Su-24M bomber aircraft by Turkey.

The new phase of strengthening of the air-defense capabilities of Moscow’s military grouping comes amid the increased US-Russian tensions over the ongoing conflict.

If the report is comfirmed, it will indicate that Moscow believes there is a chance of some kind of military confrontation with usage of ballistic missiles in the region.

I just can’t believe the morons in our State Dept. that dismiss the possibility of war with Russia in Syria.
How can adults who study foreign affairs believe that imposing a no fly zone in a foreign country deny that it is an act of war? It is scary that my country is filled with people like this.

I can disagree with someone who embraces war and still respect their ability to reason but people like this are disconnected from reality.

let me remind you this. your high ranking public officials openly said, when the time comes to invade iran they will strike before israel, to prevent israel from being counter-attacked by iran. israel must suffer at least as possible is the main goal of the US public officials. this is something they say openley in a very proud way. you have to understand that your country, the strongest country in the world, The United States is not SOVEREIGN !!!!

Very good , need an installment over in Dayr az Zawr as well , and a few new bridges. Destruction of those bridges cannot be justified by “attacking ISIS” , as they unfortunately were not manning them. And 3 or 4 days in a row is beginning to be a bad habit . A few of the Persian “Thunderbolt”‘s to protect Damascus would also be helpful . On the other hand , any news out of Fox is highly questionable .

Like Vietnam. ….Empire may rule the skies. …and die some.
Yet the turf war means win it on the ground.
Something US cannot do….as it must be occupation and Coffins into Andrew’s AFB
      At night.
Americans now have 10 years HBO TV series showing how fast the American soldiers
      Becomes double amputee.

Why would anyone join up to wear all that heavy gear….be hot and tired all the time.
      And then double amputee?

They did at the airbase. They also deployed the naval version of the s300 just off the Syrian coast though.
