Unknown activists in Odessa held a flash mob on the day of the arrival of the new governor of Odessa Mikhail Saakashvili to the regional center. They hung red ties on poles.

Ties with the inscription “For Misha” could be seen as the monuments, signs and trees in Odessa. Especially many of them were hung near the Regional State Administration. There is no publication of information, who has organized this event.

On May 30 Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko announced the appointment of former Georgian leader Saakashvili, the governor of the Odessa region. The official event was held in the capital of Ukraine. On May 29 Saakashvili received Ukrainian citizenship.

The incident with the tie became wide famous after August 16, 2008 when BBC Television and Radio broadcasted footage of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili chewing his tie.
