Putin Advises Saudi Arabia To Buy S-300 If It Really Wants To Protect Oil Infrastructure (Video)

On September 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin advised Saudi Arabia to protect its people and oil infrastructure by buying Russian-made air defense systems.

Putin made the remark at a press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after US officials blamed Iran for the recent attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil infrastructure.

“We are ready to help Saudi Arabia to protect their people,” Putin said. “And they need to make one clever decision as Iran did, buying our S-300, and as Mr. Erdoğan did by deciding to buy the most advanced S-400 Triumph air defense systems from Russia.”

“These kinds of systems are capable of defending any kind of infrastructure in Saudi Arabia from any kind of attack.”

The Saudi military is currently armed with US-made Patrior air defense systems. Since the start of the Saudi invasion of Yemen in 2015, Saudi Patriots have repeatedly demonstrated that they are not capable to defend key Saudi infrastructure objects from missile and drone strikes by Yemen’s Houthis.

A brief look at the S-300 missile system:

Saudi and Emirati pimps are Americunt slaves and milking cow for the Jew Bilderberg weapons peddlers who have sold trillions in worthless JUNK to them and do you think they will let go of their golden Wahhabi goose?

  • verner

the cost of the fake leonardo da vinci painting mohammed bin salman shelled out 450m$ for would have been a good way towards a complete set of the s300 missile defense – guess the unhinged states of A will find that a few of the buyers of the patriot-system have changed their minds and demand repayment of money paid up front and rescinding the deal. like boeing and the 737 max, not really air-worthy and the patriot-system not really up to the job. what a larf when the insipid american’s exceptionalism turns to dust a step at the time.

    • Zionism = EVIL

Not only that, the Saudi and Emirati degenerates spend on gambling, drinking and whoring in one night in Europe than the embargoed people of Gaza or Yemen spend on medicines for a whole year. The House of Saud is a perverted criminal enterprise sustained by Americunts and Zionist parasites.

        The Empire can steal, destroy or sanction the crucial oil exports of; Venezuela, Iran, Syria, Libya, Iraq (partial list) Yet we must bend down and sacrifice our sons for a conspiracy who’s only real goal is world domination, when they are challenged . Take your pick who you would support;

        A) Starving people fighting, nobly, for their lives.

        B) Fake royalty who chop off the heads of anyone that disagrees with their regime, fighting for more power and for the oil under the barefoot feet of A.

Putin’s sarcasm is more subtle than it seems. Obviously the Russians know how (not) the things went with the (supposed) Houthi’s drone attack

In fact, they do use of Tor-M1

      • Zionism = EVIL

No sire, the Saudi shitheads have some old Hawks, patriot THAAD and Oerlikons. No Russian systems there. The Americunt operate all Saudi air defences and you can see glaring “success”.

          I mean Russians defending Lathakia

          • Zionism = EVIL

Sorry, I misunderstood. Indeed, the Russians have Pantsir S1 for low level, TOR M2 and BUK for medium level and S-400 for high altitude long range interception. The SAA has SA/2/5/6 ( Iranian Sayyad 2) and S-300 and now Iranian Bavar 373 and Khordad systems.

Seriously, these Tornado IDS were pretty modern aircraft and once the Pakistanis withdrew, the Saudi illiterate Bedouins just let them rot as they could not maintain them. Look at Iranian engineers sheer genius and brilliance in contrast, as they have not only maintained but upgraded the F-14A Persian Cats despite a total Americunt arms embargo. The Americunt sore losers even destroyed every UNS F-14 so that Iranians will not get the spares. Despite that pathetic Americunt spite, over 50 IRIAF F-14A are now operational and with enhanced radars and weapons systems. Same with the F-4E and F-5E in different variants including domestic models. The Saudis are real shitheads

Iran’s F-14 Air Superiority Fleet is Actually Growing; Why More Tomcats Are Very Bad News For Tehran’s Adversaries

F-14 jets in the Iranian fleet have reportedly received over 250
modifications and upgrades each, including the provision of new radars,
cockpit displays, electronic warfare suites and other critical
avionics. Combined with the new AIM-54 derived Fakour-90 missiles, this
has made the Iranian Tomcats possibly the most lethal fighters in the
            Middle East.

Must admit, when Russia used the whicker basket, laden with Magrav non-tactile weapons, to take out the Donald Cook, I was seriously impressed that it was an Iranian who came up with the idea. I just loved the idea that they went for humiliation, rather than loss of life. Finding that seriously impressive.

Have you seen the Moon of Alabama article, which supports your comment and provides some humour?

It was a pleasure to read and here are a couple of snippets from the article:

How Russian And Iran Beat Their Opponents’ Strategies…

‘…Yesterday, during a press conference in Ankara with his Turkish and Iranian colleagues, Putin trolled Saudi Arabia (video @38:20) with a similar offer as he had made to Trump:

Q: Does Russia intend to provide Saudi Arabia with any help or support in restoring its infrastructure?
Putin: As for assisting Saudi Arabia, it is also written in the Quran that violence of any kind is illegitimate except when protecting one’s people. In order to protect them and the country, we are ready to provide the necessary assistance to Saudi Arabia. All the political leaders of Saudi Arabia have to do is take a wise decision, as Iran did by buying the S-300 missile system, and as President Erdogan did when he bought Russia’s latest S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft system. They would offer reliable protection for any Saudi infrastructure facilities.

President of Iran Hassan Rouhani: So do they need to buy the S-300 or the S-400?

Vladimir Putin: It is up to them to decide…

            …………………………….

Plus, this section, which fits in with your comment.

…Iran, in contrast, developed its weapons along an asymmetric strategy just as Russia did.

Iran does not have a modern airforce. It does not need one because it is not aggressive. It has long developed other means to deter the U.S., Saudi Arabia and other opponents in the Middle East. It has a large number of self developed medium range ballistic missiles and a whole zoo of short to medium range drones and cruise missiles. It can hit any economic or military target within their 2,000 kilometer reach.

It also makes its own air defenses which recently enabled it to take down an expensive U.S. drone. Here is General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of IRGC’s Aerospace Force, explaining how that was done (video, engl. subs).

Iran developed relations with friendly population groups in other countries and trained and equipped them with the necessary defensive means. These are Hizbullah in Lebanon, various groups in the Syria, the PMG/Hashd in Iraq, the Houthi in Yemen and Islamic Jihad in Gaza.

None of these groups is a full proxy for Iran. They all have their own local politics and will at times disagree with their big partner. But they are also willing to act on Iran’s behalf should the need arise.

Iran developed a number of weapons exclusively for its allies that differ from the ones it itself uses. It enables its partners to build those weapons themselves. The cruise missile and drones that the Houti in Yemen use are different from the one Iran uses for its own forces…’

Those patriots seem to be not working. Is that its true capability or someone told somebody to stand down?

          • Zionism = EVIL

The patriots are dud, even in 1991 they had a 100% failure rate and crazy Saddam’s SCUD-B even got through. Most Americunt weapons are total Hollywood hype, just ask the Vietnamese who shot down close to 5,000 helicopters and planes with Russian SAMS and AAA.

          • Barba_Papa

In 1991 their use was mostly for morale reasons as their accuracy was highly inflated in the media and became soon apparent after that war. New software was developed after that war though. I reckon the Patriot’s current capabilities are obscured by the fact that its Saudi chimps who are handling them. And the Saudi army is the worst army currently in the world.

          • AM Hants

Didn’t Serbia take down one of the stealth US aircrafts, back in 1999, using one of the old S-200s?

          • Vitex

because they had Russian-trained ops. Made trouble for the South African air force over Angola in the mid 80s too

          • Ashok Varma

India has defeated Pakistan four times with Russian weapons.

        • AM Hants

That makes the comment from President Putin even funnier. Bet the US Military Industry are having humour failure, as I type.

        • Ashok Varma

Amazing that Saudi spend more on weapons than India which is 100 times their size.

          • Barba_Papa

Saudi Arabia does not spend money on weapons for defense, it spends money on weapons to buy influence in Washington and London, so they will look the other way when Saudi Arabia exports Salafism and terrorism and so that they will do the fighting to defend Saudi Arabia for them. For Saudis are lazy buggers who would rather have foreigners do the working and fighting for them. Unfortunately occasionally you get a moron like MBS who actually seems to think that having all that hardware translates into an actual competent fighting force. Just like it was with Saddam Hussein and his Iraqi army. Only unlike Saddam nobody has invaded Saudi Arabia yet to cure MBS from that particular illusion. Its high time it happens, too bad that having bought all that weaponry did buy Saudi Arabia some influence in the US and UK to prevent that. Which was probably Saddam’s biggest problems, maybe if he had bought as much American and British weapons as Saudi Arabia had he would still be in power. The Empire rarely moves against its vassals who spend a lot of money.

  • Leon

The S300 and 400 are not appropriate for drones and missiles. Does the proposition indicates that Russia knows that the strike was done by F35 ( Israeli’s ) ?

    • Tiresia Branding

      BINGO! ;)
alternatively it may allude to the fact that the attack can be totally false or staged or suitably magnified

      • Leon

Suitably magnified yes : because the Houthis claim the strike.

        • Tiresia Branding

yes, we must remember that the Houtis had announced that they would attack Saudi oil infrastructure. So the empire had plenty of time to prepare a narrative to pull out at the right time

    • rafa374

What are they then appropriate for? Just planes? I can believe you though. Putin’s sales pitch is a bit rich. It wouldn’t have been hard to demonstrate the S300’s capabilities. Just shoot down the odd Israeli plane attacking Syria. Everyone would rush to buy them. Seems that Russia is too afraid of Israel.

      • AM Hants

Darling, I thought President Putin was the President of Russia, not Syria. Surely, what the Syrian Government use, is up to them to decide, not Russia?

        • rafa374

Huh? Putin’s missiles are supposed to be protecting Syria. AFAIK they’ve never been fired. Israel likes to test its hardware every few years on the Gazans to boost sales. Why not Putin? IMO an important question/issue.

          • AM Hants

Russia is there to help with defence, not, to take on the work of the Syrian Government, who are in control of their own systems. The Russian systems, are there to protect Russian military assets, are they not?

          • goingbrokes

S300 is there to stop a nuclear attack by israel, the planes are just a nuisance. Some people just don’t get it.

      • Ashok Varma

Looks like Bibi lost the election and may do jail time like Olmert.

        • AM Hants

Brilliant and fingers crossed. I did wonder if he would rig it to win. There again, no doubt his successor will be just as bad, but, you never know.

  • Uwe

I think the Saudi are the worst warriors ever existed. They can be armed with any kind of high tech weaponry, they are too idiots to use it properly. Don’t sell S300 to these idiots, the results would be the same. Israel is doing just fine with Patriot stuff and Iron dome and any other US provided weaponry. Conclusion: Saudis military is a bunch of idiots.

    • BlueHeadLizard

I’m no expert but if S300 etc follow same design principles as the Kalashnikov, I suspect operating and maintaining Russia SAM systems is a lot easier than USA systems as they will be more robust, easier to learn, execute and maintain, so more exportable than USA more complex military kit which is still top of the range in the right hands like Israel.

  • Barba_Papa

Thing is though, Putin is hardly much in a position to brag when the performance of S-300 in Syria is not really stellar either. It’s stopping how many Israeli attacks exactly? Either its being handled by (Syrian) chimps, either its not as good as advertized, or either the Russians don’t allow the Syrians to use their S-300’s to their full potential. Either of the three is not really a glowing letter of recommendation.

  • AM Hants

Love it, never miss out on a business opportunity, at somebody elses expense.

Especially, saying it when you are in negotiations with Iran and Turkey at the time. Just so love the wit of President Putin.

He offers Trump Russian hypersonics and Saudi, the S-300 (not S-400) system.

  • Taz T

They don’t seem to work in Syria against Israeli planes just like US patriot missiles. They are all after making money.

    • goingbrokes

They are not there to shoot israeli planes, they are there to shoot down the nuclear missiles from israel.

Talking of Russia and Iran, I do like this article, which features the full quote, from President Putin and the response of the other two Presidents.

Erdogan, Rouhani and Putin all laughed over this exchange…’

  • Boycott-Israel!

So, at the end, saudi don’t have RADAR that can detect drones? And they were TOO RECKLESS to let attack on the oil refineries? Seriously, that is pretty much either advancement on Houthi side or it was mere false flag.
