Probably, the only thing in which Saudi Arabia has achieved some success in regard its failed intervention in Yemen is ability to cry foul in any situation in which it suffers retaliatory strikes from the Houthis. At the same time, the Kingdom, which likes to pose a ‘victim’ of Houthi strikes, continues its devastating bombing campaign on Yemen destroying civilian infrastructure and fueling the already wide humanitarian crisis.
The situation around the port city of al-Hudaydah, which is controlled by the Houthi-led Yemeni government, is an example of this situation.
On March 25, Saudi-led forces once again opened heavy artillery fire at suburbs of the port city wounding at least two civilians. The Houthis side regularly reports violations of the UN-brokered ceasefire in the area. Nonetheless, this behavior of Saudi-backed forces remains underreported in mainstream media outlets that tend to paint proxies of the invaders as the ‘fighters of democracy’, the Saudi kind of democracy apparently.
