On November 22nd, a photograph was shared online, showing a S-70 Okhotnik-B (Hunter-B), presumably the very first prototype demonstrator of the Russian heavy reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicle.

The photograph was taken back in October at the 929th V.P. Chkalov State Flight Test Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in Akhtubinsk.

It is, as can be seen, next to a Russian Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet.

After a short lull in news, back in October, the Sukhoi company posted on the public procurement website information about the tender for the creation of a ground control center (NPU-70) to ensure the development of the S-70 Okhotnik-B strike UAV.

In accordance with the tender application, it is planned to allocate 2.25 billion rubles (approx. $30 million) for this work by September 30th, 2025. The documents indicate that the NPU-70 developer must take part in the manufacture of the third and fourth prototypes of the “Okhotnik”. Back then, it was confirmed that one drone has been built.

It is, almost entirely certain that it is the drone on the photo.

According to the draft contract, two prototypes of the NPU-70 for the development of the “Okhotnik” should be handed over to the customer in mid-2021, the third in January 2022.

Preliminary state testing of products is planned to be completed by the end of 2023, and the full volume of GSE is to be completed by October 2025, after which it is planned to start organizing mass production.

Also, the public procurement portal published data from several more tenders and already concluded agreements under the same state contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense – the total cost of these works exceeds 2 billion rubles.

All contracts are due in September 2025. Thus, more than 4 billion rubles will be spent on the continuation of work on the creation of the heavy attack drone S-70 “Okhotnik”.

The S-70 Okhotnik is Russia’s first heavy strike drone. On August 3rd, 2019, it took to the skies for the first time.

According to “Interfax-AVN”, in August 2020, the head of the UAC, Yuri Slyusar, said that on the instructions of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the development of the “Okhotnik” would be accelerated, and deliveries to the troops should begin in 2024. Prior to that, it was planned to start serial deliveries from 2025.

According to Slyusar, this is “a drone with unprecedented capabilities, the largest combat radius, the widest range of weapons, the widest range of equipment.”

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Okhotnik’s payload was 6 tons, the flight range was about 6,000 km, and the height was 18 km.

According to open sources, its takeoff weight is 20 tons, making it the heaviest drone currently in development. The dimensions of the “Okhotnik” (length – 19 m, wingspan – 14 m) are comparable to the parameters of the Su-57.

The photograph also provides some insight into that, as the drone appears quite bulky and imposing.

The UAV has a flying wing design. Outwardly, the drone resembles the American B-2 strategic bomber. Although the drone is slightly inferior in terms of stealth to the US aviation, it is distinguished by its high speed and maneuverability.

These are the most important characteristics, since the S-70 was developed as an addition to the Russian Su-57 fighter. The maximum range of the UAV is 4,800 kilometers, and the speed can reach up to one thousand km/h. The Okhotnik has a lot of free space in the fuselage, which can be used for storing fuel. Such characteristics allow the UAV to accompany the Su-57.

If necessary, the S-70 will fly in front of the fighter to interfere with the enemy’s anti-aircraft weapons. The UAV will become a distraction and a hindrance to air defense systems.

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Russian anti-drone systems are more effective than foreign ones. The advantage of the complexes has been proven back in Syria.

Yawn)))

occupybacon

Marx and Engels oppenly promoted homosexuality.

Lone Ranger

Thats NATO in a nutshell.

occupybacon

Then why so much hate from Ruskies?

Lone Ranger

Why so much hate from NAZIATO?
Usually people dont like to be hated…

occupybacon

Lif a cute pussy hates you, must be very disagreable.

Lone Ranger

Was that even in english…?

occupybacon

Grammar nazi :)

Lone Ranger

+1 for the cute kitty tho ??

Sauron

Still 1 prototype?

JIMI JAMES

They don’t build and develop just one bud,use your head:

Lone Ranger

You only know of…

Random Dude

“The UAV will become a distraction and a hindrance to air defense systems.” Why spend this much? Just use old planes, like Azerbaijan used An-2. Im sure Russia has plenty of plenty in storage.

Kenny Jones ™

Those belong in a museum, you have no respect for culture and history

Lcr34

AN-2 is still a very sought after plane.

Random Dude

If the museum puts it up for sale, then probs

occupybacon

Needs to fly as fast as SU-57 to be its wingman.

JIMI JAMES

Depending on mission they could follow the su 57 which is undetectable (factually)

occupybacon

You’re tryingvtoo hard :)

Lone Ranger

Jets rarely fly at top speeds.
If they can both supercruise at Mach 1.2-1.3 its both fast enough and fuel efficient.
Also they font gave to fly by side all the time, they can randevous at a given location.

occupybacon

That’s what I was saying.

Lone Ranger

Than all is good ?

Random Dude

Mig21, Mig23, Su17, Su7. Plenty of plenty in storage

occupybacon

That would be brilliant. But I guess they keep them for when they make cheap stealthy coating for everything :)

WNSS

I am not sure if the entire concept of these types of drones is good. It is certainly a better idea to relegate bomber function to drones, there is no question about that. (Possibly also the figther role, though that one is more difficult to “program”). However, having larger number of disposable or near disposable smaller drones is possibly a better choice for most use cases. An advantage fo these big and expensive bomber drones is only obvious, if hitting the targets require a long range, which is rarely the case. Or if the bombing needs to be carried out from a very high altitude. However, the problem with this latter is, that for low-tech adversaries ordinary bombers will do the job, the high-tech adversaries can for sure develop air defense systems that are effective up to 20 km at a lower cost than what it takes to develop the Okhotnik-type drone.

occupybacon

It’s meant to fly in front of the not so stealthy SU-57 to take the first hit.

JIMI JAMES

Not so stealthy, lol, that’s why cia/ bushy goons in iraq failed to notice anything,in oz we gp got three 6th gen unmanned boeing jet fighter strike planes all ok to date, the idea is to fly along the lethargic f35 which is simply too expensive to risk ,where as these will only sell for a pittance 40 million bucks each,so much for cia.lockheeds debt traps

occupybacon

How do you know they failed to notice it? Antonov is regulary flying above Iraq, that means it goes undetected?

Lone Ranger

The Su-57 is the most stealthy jet currently in production.

occupybacon

So stealthy nobody wants to buy it because they can see them.

NITRAM28

The SU-57 is not for export.
The export vatiant of the SU-57 may be sold in a few years but no one will know for shure.

occupybacon

Is not for export because is not finished yet.

Dick Von Dast'Ard

It’s a combat capable technology prototype.
The Su-35S is more than capable of taking out anything in-service and flying in the Western air forces catalog.

NITRAM28

Its not for export cuz its not for export if the aircraft was not finished it wont be in production rn. The SU-57 will never be for export and never was offered for export.
A seperate export variant will probably be developed if at all it may just end up like the F22.

occupybacon

They said they will add stealthy coating in 2022. Is not finished. They begged India to buy it 2 years ago. They promised Indians they will add better engines after they buy it :)))

NITRAM28

ok seriousely dude i think you are the victim of miss info first you claim the S-125 is IR guided now this…ffs plz use goodle and try to find reputable sources and not some article writen by a person whom cant even tell the differance between a assultrifle and a battlerifle let alone anything more.

and no the SU57 does indeed have RAM on it idk form what article did you read it will get it in 2022 maybe you confused the next gen engine upgrade with a RAM coating?at this point it wont really suprise me.

Also actually now that you menton it it was india whom begged the Russians to give them the tech for the SU57 but they pulled out of the contract for the HAL FGFA since it was a severely downgraded version of the SU57 so they just left the program.

occupybacon

So they will add them new engines too? Well maybe then India will test it again. And Russia was the one begging Indiana to buy the unfinushed plane, to use money to continue working on it. India said the plane engines are too weak and Russia admitted that. Now the added new engines. But if you say they will even add another engines, why would Indians beg to buy that shit? :)

NITRAM28

littearly nothing of what you just said is true India was never part of the SU-57 project no nation was it was a exclusevely Russiaon project the HAL-FGFA was the project India was part of plz stop pulling shit out of thin air.

Also what? the izdaniye 30 engines are only for use on the SU-57 the HAL-FGFA wuld only use the S117 engines.
plz better inform yourself before talking about any subject but to be fair their is a massive imout of miss information on this particular subject so i am not really that supprised that you do not really understand this.

The indians begd to be part of the PAK-FA program but they got the HAL-FGFA
the PAK-FA program is far more advanced then the HAL-FGFA program it may be based on the basic SU-57 airframe but they are almost 2 compleately diffrent aircraft kinda like the SU-27 and SU-35S.

occupybacon

Keep saying Indians begged. Russians begged India to buy it when it was kalled pak fa or something. The same plane still.

NITRAM28

wrong the PAK-FA was a Russia only project no other nation participated or was allowed to participate.
The HAL-FGFA was not the same project the indians wheir not happy with its performance since it used older tech compared to the PAK-FA project india wanted to be part of the PAK-FA project but Russia refused so they pulled out of the HAL-FGFA project.
Ffs this is easely googled info how do you not know this?

Lone Ranger

According to soros news…

Lone Ranger

Both India and China wants it.
They only want to drive down the price.
India did that with the Rafale too.
In fact the French are so fed up with the Indians they told If they dont quit the BS they wont deliver anymore jets and walk away from the already done deal.
?

occupybacon

Everybody wants it but want to drive the price down, when it will low enough I will drive test too.

Dick Von Dast'Ard

I suspect Algeria will be the first export customer.

occupybacon

I can’t wait to learn if it’s real stealthy, but the most optimistic estimation is 5 years from now.

Dick Von Dast'Ard

I think you have already found out it was stealthy with it’s Syrian deployment.
Can already out-fly, out-perform anything comparable to it in the Western air forces.

occupybacon

Doubt.

paolinks

Are there stealth fighters as of today? Nope. Radar technology has greatly improved since the ’80s, when the first stealth mass-produced bomber ( F-117 ) appeared.

occupybacon

There are at least two types of radars, one that detect them, one more precise that guide missiles, they are stealthy for the second ones, you see them coming but can’t guide missiles towards them. The only chance you have is to guess where they are and fire missiles that use infrared guidance and if you are lucky they go for engine heat, like the one in Serbia 99.

NITRAM28

Is your dumbass talking shit about things you have not idea about again?
Stealth is ment to lower the radar signature of a aircraft to the level it dosent look like an aircraft it dosent make the aircraft invisible.
Also if the scanning radar can find it you can bet your ass the FC radar can and will track it as well since both share the same data with oneanother.
Also the missile witch shot down the F117 in 1999 was a RADAR guided S-125 NOT a IR guided missile.

m8 their is something called goodle fucking use it.

occupybacon

Nope, the radar detected the F-117 only when it took off from Italy, they guessed the speed and direction and fired two missiles, one missile cought it with its IR.

NITRAM28

And how exactly did they manage to make RADAR guided V-600 variant missile (S-125) is able to lock on to a ircraft with IR when it dosent have any IR……dude for real try and at least use google ffs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-125_Neva/Pechora
Its not that hard.

occupybacon

Well, my bad so they spotted it with the traps open at veey close range. No IR. My mistake. Still you need to be lucky enough to get its bay open before it gets your radar.

PZIVJ

This is much better than your last wild guess. LOL
F117 probably lost stealth when it opened the bay doors.

occupybacon

It was not a guess, I have a funny memory.

NITRAM28

if a obsolete S-125 can pick it up and shoot it down keep in mind the F117 is considered to have a lower RCS then the F22 and F35 due to its dimond shape and RAM coating combo then anything more modern will have a easyer time doing it too stealth has proofen to be not enoth to stop SAM’s thats a proofen fact since the F35 is not as stealthy as eather the F117 or F22 and thats a good thing since it hinders performance.

occupybacon

It was one plane from hundreds of sorties. Why they didn’t shot down at least a dozen if it’s that simple?

NITRAM28

Most Yugo airdefenses had been destroyed or just did not function after the early days of the bombing also you must understand alot of their A/D system did not function cuz of sanctions they culd not buy spare parts.

paolinks

Missiles are infrared and vision guided too! It is a non problem. Also, systems like the S-500 use phased array radars to detect them and to guide the missiles towards them.

occupybacon

I’m sure that if NATO will go against a country that purchase that system, won’t rely on F-35 alone.

paolinks

So? Isn’t the F-35 the top-best-uber-alles super-ultra miltech with UFO parts inside? LOL

occupybacon

USA makes integrated weapons, they are not so good alone but rather when interconnected. I know it’s a complex concept for Russians to understand :)

paolinks

Ehm, this thing was invented by the soviets and is used everywhere by the russian military, under the name of “multilayered defense”.

occupybacon

And America was discovered by the Soviets.

paolinks

Butthurt?

Have fun with your “invincible” patriots https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS4i2InVB-Y

HAHAHAHAHAHA

occupybacon

At first I thought it was the Syrian S-200 shooting the Russian plane.

occupybacon

If you search on youtube the inside of an aircraft carrier, indeed it looks like Enteeprise comparing to the rusty Russian junks.

NITRAM28

what part of the SU-57 is not stealthy?

occupybacon

The plane.

NITRAM28

illogical i will try again what part of the the aircraft is not stealthy.

occupybacon

The aircraft.

NITRAM28

tell me why? give me detalis on to why its not stealth if you cant support your argumen with solid technical data then you have no argument and your statment is just flat out unproven and or wrong.

occupybacon

They said they will add stealthy coating in 2022.

NITRAM28

link me a credible source that states this.

NITRAM28

the moment i read that and i quote “India withdrew from a joint program with Russia to create a fifth-generation fighter. The Indian Air Force was dissatisfied with the Su-57’s lack of stealth, weak engines for such a platform, and the numerous delays in terms of program implementation”

i knew this was just the usual bs article but i kept on reading and found the usual crap written by ppl whom haven no idea what they are talking about and did not find anything about the SU-57 receaving a “stealthy coating in 2022” all i found was a very sus report caliming the SU-57 will recive a fully mecanical electric drive instead of its hydraulic drive (smth that dosent make sence since in orderf for it to perform well it needs hydraulics to do that).

so again link me a source that states the SU-57 will and i quote “stealthy coating in 2022” i mean ffs did you even read what you linked?

occupybacon

I will give you something 10000 times better, I will show you how to aquire unlimited knowledge. Copy the exat sentence, paste it in google field and click search button. Kabooom! You master the Internet now.

John Brown

The Armenians realized, far too late, that by taking them away from Russia for the USA, Nikol Pachinian had bet on the wrong horse. They understand in retrospect that however corrupt the former team that led them was, it was patriotic, while Soros’ men are opposed to the very concept of nationhood, and therefore to the independence of their country..

occupybacon

We can’t know from outside what happened in the country, the corruption of the pro-Russian politicians could be greater evil than losing Artszakh. That’s what I see in all the ex-Soviet states.

John Brown

Thanks for the confession. You favor the destruction of all ex-Soviet states. Total destruction is better then some corruption? Why don’t you then do as you say and destroy Israel and its global evil empire?

“The corruption of the pro-Russian politicians could be greater evil than losing Artszakh. That’s what I see in all the ex-Soviet states.”

This is a keeper.

Yes as a member of the racist supremacist global Jewish satanic slave empire dictatorship, you seek the destruction of all Goyim states and their peoples enslavement by your evil empire.

After all Soros needs those Ex Soviet women and children for his global sex slave and organ harvesting businesses.

occupybacon

You seem a bit upset, what happened?

NITRAM28

aaaannnd all i got wheir the same articles form the same unreliable biased source witch dosent even diferentiate between the PAK FA and HAL FGFA.

occupybacon

So when you were asking me for ‘reliable’ sources you were expecting some dark web shady blogs?

NITRAM28

no i mean acutal official source for your information but you wont find one since one dosent exist i have tryed to find it for littearly months i cant it made up bullshit but it is to be expected weapons systems of all nations have alot of fake news writen about them.

occupybacon

It is funny when I say something bad about Russia, people here ask me for official sources, someone even asked me for ‘academic data’ but they throw all kind of conspiracy theories about USA :)

NITRAM28

m8 idc about if you say smth bad or good about anyone i only care if its factually correct and you have a history of spewing flat out retarded bullshit for no reason tho its no better then anyone else on this sight its just that you are so convinced in your own bullshit that i have to call you out on it.

occupybacon

Let’s not pretend you care the same if anyone spews same bullshit, but praising Putin.

WNSS

This is a very expensive way for being a decoy.

occupybacon

I think F-35 will have this tactic too.

Mr T

if drones are supported by electronic defense systems, these drones can be not seen on radar. then will be a killer.

Lcr34

I think if Russia come out with a wingman system around Su57 it would be ideal. Su57’s powerful AESA paints enemy aircraft, wingman drone fire BVR missile. Also drones could be fitted with jamming pod/towing decoy etc. Frees up valuable internal storage on Su57 (if any).

Mr T

Russian junk without high tech electronica and not supported by air defense, attack systems it is just flying balloons. Russia is miles behind in drone systems.

JIMI JAMES

On the contary usa are miles behind Australia (period) when it comes to radars we got avid soviet scientists whom also in queensland develop the most advancepolice radar systems and supply usa cops such radars to utilise on land, converselt russia rules in radars(period)

Mr T

you said it yourself, all scientist left Russia.

If we had that oil, gas and minerals like Russia. Turkey would be local super power.

Russia is destroying itself with Zionist Putler and its regime. All that money and still they cant develop a effective drone, AD systems.

Cheap TB2 fucking Pantzir and all Russia AD systems.

Lone Ranger

Salty ukropnazi tears detected ?

Mr T

long live Ukraine.

Lone Ranger

There is no such country left anymore, only the CIA/soros/neonazi colony called Ukropisstan…
Have a nice evening ?

Servet Köseoğlu

interesting but ı would better go for much cheaper ”hale” class drones with payload small diameter bombs range minimum 100 km..sounds good to saturate aa’s though every country’s threat is different.

paolinks

Surely, such a thing is NOT intended for saturation attacks. Frankly I don’t understand what its real objective is. It is too slow to be an efficient attack platform. Too unarmed to defend itself for a long time. Too big to evade radars.

I wonder if this is just a test platform for hypersonic UAVs…after changing the engines of course.

Lone Ranger

Good job Comrades ?
CIA trolls and hasbarats are already crying and raging.
Free Tampax for Ukropnazi trolls…

Dick Von Dast'Ard

I guess if the drone is packed with electronic warfare technologies the Su-57/60 becomes more radar invisible than thin air.

Dick Von Dast'Ard

Naval aviation version would be handy…
Possibly a ground control station in Syria and Sudan.
