Russia’s S-500 Prometheus mobile air and space defense complex will be displayed at International military-technical forum Army-2016 in September, the Defence Blog information website reported on Wednesday.

Earlier, open sources told RT that “the S-500 will be capable of simultaneously engaging up to 10 targets traveling at speeds of up to seven kilometers per second, which is an approximate speed of intercontinental ballistic missile nuclear warheads entering the atmosphere. The killing range of the complex is reported to be 600 kilometers, while the altitude of a target engaged could be near 180-200 kilometers.”

The Russian Aerospace Forces is allegedly planning to order five S-500 complexes up to the year 2020 and integrate them into the A-135 (and successive A-235) Moscow air defense system.

International military-technical forum Army-2016 will be held on the basis of Patriot Congress and Exhibition Centre of the military-patriotic recreation park of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Kubinka, Moscow region, on September 6-11.

I have been looking forward to seeing the S 500 for quite a long time now.
It is much discussed but there are no pictures that I could find.
Those that say they are S 500 don’t look like it to me are I would
    say are clearly S 400 or S 300.

Five systems does seem rather a small number . May be it might be
possible for Southfront to do an analysis on this topic.

As usual South Front made a mistake, it’s 5 regiments.

Because a lot of people (authors included) are talking bollocks. They speak as though the S-500 has already been deployed. In fact they’ve been talking as though it is in service when it is still being developed.

According to articles in May, they plan to introduce them into service in the “near future”, so I assume some time next year.

More or less. This is display of the system to the public, but the system has been worked on for quite some time. Rumor has it, it was seen via satellite in Kapustin Yar.

“Five Systems” by my knowledge does not mean five vehicles, but five complete “units”, each of which has command vehicle, multiple radar vehicles (detection, acquisition, etc…) and few (3-8, depending on the type of unit) launch vehicles. That would mean 15-40 launch vehicles with around 60-240 missiles ready to launch.
