The new Serp-VS5 [Russian for Sickle] anti-drone system has passed tests and is ready for supplies, Andrey Sorokin, deputy CEO for Business Development at the Vektor Research Institute told TASS on March 16.
The Vektor Research Institute is a part of the Ruselectronics Group, a subsidiary of the Russian state-owned tech corporation Rostec
“All the tests are over. The system is ready for supplies under orders and currently work is underway to agree upon the delivery timeframe. Orders for the new system are already available,” Sorokin told the Russian news agency.
The Serp-VS5 can detect and disable small drones across 360 degrees within a 5 km range. It was designed to jam the drone’s control channel, break its communication with the operator, and disable its navigational equipment, ultimately causing its to crash.
The system features five frequency bands ranging from 900 MHz to 5.8 GHz that enable it to operate against both civilian and military drones. It can jam GPS, Glonass and Beidou signals in the L1, L2 and L5 frequency bands. In addition, it can disrupt drone Wi-Fi control.
Kiev forces have been using light and ultralight commercial drones to monitor and even attack Russian forces since the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. Electronic warfare systems similar to the Serp-VS5 are the Russian military’s main line of defense against this threat.
The new system with its fairly long range will further boost the anti-drone capabilities of the Russian military. However, it is still unclear if it will be deployed in the special military operation zone.

Look to be big. Is important to can be built with simple and coomon, commercially electronics, things not hard to aquire because of embargo. Also it is electronics, it need electricity to work. this can be an issue on frontline.
Okay, we get it. You’re retarded.
Ever heard of a portable generator? You are really lacking in knowledge and yet you open your mouth to comment.
Awesome. I kinda now how those things works eg. Drones, and can only say it is ingenious design.
Only 5 km ( 3 mile ) range ? Not enough to do much good.
post 10 of them outside Donetsk (separated 5 km from eachother) as well as 10 of them outside Belgorod and they will do a LOT of good.
They don’t have any dumbass and they can’t build any dumbass , well maybe another cardboard mockup EH
Cool, and now ship it to the Front line in Donbass
The range is EXACTLY what the needs of a proper defense require. ALL good stand-by rapid recon is take from bellow 3 km range for any drone. Even for the pro ones. And artillery systems almost always use that kind of rapid target pointing method. Very good news. The most useful will be for the first line trench warfare assaults. I hope this will speed up a little the denazification program.
Ukros have been counting on L5 band Serp VS5 will kill their new drones.
Another layer of defense needed on the battle front. Logistics is going to get more complicated. But I suppose with experience integrating SAM radars into defense, the russians are prepared.
Russians should design new trench clearance weapons. Anti-personnel RPGs are definitely a great idea that should be explored more. A kind of RPG could be created that just detects when it is over a trench because of the height difference, then explodes and sends all the fragments directly downwards.
Ha ha ha it cannot be built in the Russian wasteland it’s just another chunk of cheese for the stupid Russian trash minions to google up , EH
