Slow but steady de-chimping. R. David Harden from November in The Hill (link) [with my bonus snark]:

“…the incoming Biden administration gives Saudi Arabia an opportunity to exit the Yemen war, a conflict that is counterproductive, expensive, and unending. The Kingdom, of course, has legitimate security concerns in Yemen, including stability along its southern flank and unimpeded shipping through the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Yet after years of war, Riyadh has not achieved its strategic objectives. Instead, the insurgent Houthi militia controls 80 percent of the population — including the capital Sanaʽa — and retains the military capability to launch strikes deep within Saudi territory [and all this without shoes]. Make no mistake, the Houthis are bad actors [your dim-witted, mistaken characterization is noted… bitch]. They have driven the economy to collapse [Houthis? Um, Saudis stealing their oil, central bank and bombing their infrastructure are unrelated, I guess], failed to govern [during bothersome Saudi F-15 strikes], and are substantially responsible for much of the horrific suffering of the Yemeni people [they ARE the fucking Yemeni people, idiot]. But, at its core, Yemen is an internal civil war that will be resolved by the Yemenis [=resolved by the Houthis] themselves [where the fuck were you five years ago, Einstein?]. With a Biden nudge, Saudi Arabia could recalibrate its Yemen policy to mitigate Houthi threats by pulling back from the conflict and opening deeper economic channels with its southern neighbor [personally, I would use the thermonuclear B61 dialed up to a 340kT yield with a 1700 ft. air burst to ‘nudge’ the Saudi Wahhabi chimps to ‘recalibrate’].

Frankly, the Saudi idiots are up the creek, a fully laded oil tanker has just been hit by a massive explosion off the coast of Jeddah on the Red Sea.

Saudi shipping firm Hafnia says its tanker was hit by an unidentified ‘external source’, causing a fire and an explosion causing it to list off the Red Sea coast. The BW Rhine loaded about 60,000 tonnes of gasoline from Yanbu port on December 6, according to shipping data on Refinitiv. The tanker is currently 84-percent full, according to its draft.
