A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:

  • On January 5, the Kurdish Asayish security unit captured 10 members of the Syran Army, including a major. The sides are negotiating to de-escalate the situation;
  • On January 5, artillery of Turkish-backed forces shelled SDF positions in the Ain Issa area;
  • On January 6, clashes between the SDF and Turkish-backed forces continued in the north of Ain Issa. The SDF reportedly repelled several attacks of Turkish-backed forces;
  • On January 5, 3 SDF members were killed in an attack by unknown gunmen east of Raqqah;
  • On January 5, the Turkish Army sent an new logistical reinforcements convoy to Syria via the Kafr Lusin crossing;
  • On January 5, Russia reported that Idlib militants violated the ceasefire regime in Greater Idlib 36 times: 23 – in Idlib province, 10 – in Latakia province, 3 – in Aleppo province.
