This map provides a general look at the military situation in eastern Syria on December 7, 2017. The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), Hezbollah and their allies have cleared the western bank of the Euphrates from ISIS. Now, they are preparing to launch an operation in the Homs desert.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry offered the US-led coalition help in fighting ISIS in western Iraq and adviced it to focus on fighting ISIS istead of establishing bases in Syria.

      Its interesting to look at a satellite image of the desert. There are a few wadi’s that will presumably be infested with ISIS . This is where drone recce will come into its own and helicopter and light vehicle assault groups supported by bombing attacks I suppose.
